The Amalfi Coast is a wonderful stretch of coastline on the southern side of the Sorrentine Peninsula of Italy extending from Positano in the west to Vietri sul Mare in the East. The area is popular with walkers with its rugged terrain, scenic beauty, and picturesque towns.
Since 1995 the beautiful historical centre of Naples has been declared a World Heritage Site. The home of pizza, Naples is a passionate, lively city. Take a rail trip to the excavations of Herculaneum and Pompeii and hike to the summit of the active Mount Vesuvius. The beautiful volcanic island Ischia is blessed by hot springs, a thousand year history and a picturesque landscape.
Sorrento is a popular tourist destination. With rocky cliffs at the end of the peninsula, Sorrento has wonderful views across the Bay of Naples and of Mount Vesuvius. Pompeii is only 20 km away and it is at the western end of the picturesque coastal Amalfi Drive.
