A Fantastic Break in London

A customer  who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Stay Date: 03/03/13

Overall Hotel Rating:

3 out of 5

Our hotel had a superb location, with a view over Hyde Park, a bus stop outside and the underground across the road. The room was basic and had some traffic noise at night. The food in the restaurant was excellent - freshly cooked and well presented. The service was excellent too, all the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We visited the Houses of Parliament by prior arrangement with our MP and had a memorable visit. We then went into St Martin's in the Fields and came across a boys' choir rehearsing Faure's Requiem for a competition. London is full of delightful surprises. We visited Westminster Cathedral, the RC cathedral. It was beautiful, with gorgeous mosaics and a serene atmosphere. More of a place of worship than a museum. We popped into Harrods to goggle at the Food Hall, on our way to the V & A. Just walking around in the West End is interesting. We were pleased to find that our local bus passes ( seniors), were valid in London too. We took a boat from Westminster to Greenwich to see the Cutty Sark. The new visitors' centre is a museum in its own right, with the delightful Meantime pub and restaurant. The Cutty Sark experience is far, far more interesting than it used to be. I thoroughly recommend this trip. All in all a fantastic visit, with some memorable moments.

We were so looking forward to this break, unfortunately my husband broke his leg,so this made us both a little apprehensive about so much in taking this break. But we needen't of worried. We had one of the best weekends away ever. Every thing went so smoothly, even though we could not do the amount of sight seeing we both normally tend to do,we were so very well looked after and made to feel special thank-you so much for the hotel you advertised

New Year in London

A customer from Spalding who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Stay Date: 31/12/12

Overall Hotel Rating:

4 out of 5

We purchased a theatre break, with friends, for New Year's Eve in which we had a good hotel in a good location with good bed and breakfast. The show was We Will Rock You, a story set to the music of Queen. London Transport got us from place to place, then came the Embankment and and the most magnificent firework display to welcome 2013.After a good nights sleep and breakfast in our hotel off to watch The London Parade with all its marching bands, Cheerleaders and floats - excellent.A great couple of days with friends.

Good location opposite lancaster underground and bus stop outside. Hotel room furnishings dated and shabby but everything clean. Gap under bedroom door letting in light. View from window poor. Hotel staff all pleasant and polite. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Would have liked tea making facilities in room. Ok for short break.

Lovely staff, fabulous "home cooked" style food and the best cooked element of breakfast I've had in london (out of hundreds) but room whilst spacious and comfortable very much in need of an upgrade - a pity because a facelift for the hotel would make it a "find".

Stay Date: 29/03/12

Overall Hotel Rating:

We spent the time going to places we had planned. The oyster card bought through Superbreak was brilliant. Superb weather the whole time. The London elizabeth hotel is very tired and in need of refurbishment, which had actually started. Our first room had a non funtioning shower so we were moved to another room without fuss. The decor was well worn, the water barely hot. The bed was like a block of wood. Wouldn't stay there until it has been fully brought up to scratch.

London Elizabeth, a very good choice. A safe in the bedroom and luggage storage after vacating the room was included in the price. Position was excellent, park over the road, Lancaster Gate tube station yards away, we are in our 70's we walked to Price Edward Theatre and back again.; pavements were good , well lit we felt safe. The owner & staff were helpful and friendly. Room service was quick & cheerful. The bed was clean and comfortable, there was a table, chairs, wardrobe and drawers. The bathroom/shower had plenty of towels, hot water, soap, shampoo and large mirrors. Breakfast was pastries, wide choice of cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cooked breakfast (hot too) bread, toast, jam, honey and marmalade. There were chairs in reception for visitors. A member of staff hailed a taxi for us when we left. The decor was a little tired, but that is nit picking.

My cousin and I fancied a weekend break in london and to see a show. The hotel was very close to the tube station and paddington and opposite hyde park so perfectly located. Hotel was charming and room was nice, staff excellent. Other guests rather noisy though getting in late and cleaning staff up and about early so a little tiring. The show was brilliant (billy elliot) and we walked from the hotel to victoria and saw many sights. Many restaurants and bars in easy walking distance.

Went on a one night break to london. Stayed in the hotel elizabeth which was ideally situated just across the road from hyde park. The weather was warm and we had an enjoyable stroll through the park and saw the statue of peter pan which is well worth seeing. Also visited the memorial fountain (paddling pool) for diana princess of wales. The children were enjoying themselves paddling in the pool which i'm sure diana would have loved but feel like many others that they could have a better memorial for her with the amount of money spent. Booked rail tickets separate as we got a better deal than with Superbreak and returned 1st class for just £1 extra each which made a nice end to a memorable weekend. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly and had an excellent breakfast. The only downside we were on the top floor and the rooms were small and areas needed upgrading. There was only one small (and very claustrophobic) lift in the hotel.

My friend and I came down to see barry manilow at o2 which was an excellent show. We also went to see jersey boys which was superb. We also visited westminster abbey to see the trees and flowers from the royal wedding a few days before our visit. Hotel location was superb just round the corner from lancaster gate tube. The staff were all very helpful and friendly especially patrick the night porter. The room was quite spacious adn you could see the serpentine from the window. Each morning you could see and hear the police horses being exercised. Breakfast was good with plenty to eat. Rooms being done up bit by bit very central area and would certainly stay here again.

Hotel elizabeth is a comfortable, slightly old-fashioned hotel; the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were superb (so substantial that we didn't need any lunch! )the bedroom was clean and comfortable, although we did miss having tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Stayed at the london elizabeth. Staff and location excellent. Breakfast good. Two things spoiled it. 1. The pillows! rock hard foam and all the same. 2. They still have smoking bedrooms. Even though we requested non smoking, one of the three was very obviously for smokers and it stank. When we asked at reception if we could change, they said they had no others available. I know they don't guarantee requests but this had been booked well in advance and it spoiled the stay.

A Night In London

We went to london on the train to stay at the london elizabeth hotel. It did not start well as all trains from our station to crewe had been cancelled because the drivers would not work overtime, hence an unexpected car parking fee. It was also the day of the cuts demo in london so we had to suffer idiots everywhere. We went to watch les miserables at the queens and it just was not for us. Didin't like being high up in the upper circle suffering from claustrophobia and it told us that in future we will not rely upon Superbreak to book things like that as they always seem to be at the bottom of the feeding chain! we left half way through and went back to watch the rioting! the hotel however was fine with a really good breakfast. Our room was on the front and although a bit worn was acceptable. The noise outside however was bad, the windows are not double glazed and the road very busy. London emergency vehicles also seem to think that putting two tones on at every opportunity is acceptable despite it being in the early hours when the traffic is lighter.

Enjoyable mini break in elizabeth hotel, hyde park, London. The hotel is in need of refurbishing outside and is tired inside, but we were made very welcome and the staff are excellent. Due to old windows you will be disturbed by traffic noise. The hotel is in an ideal location for the tube and buses. Highly priced for the facilities, so would not stay there again unless they had a special offer.

Took my grand-daughter on trip to London and stayed at London elizabeth hotel. Old fashioned, but staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Located wonderfully for tube access and beautiful walks through hyde park which took us to the albert memorial and albert hall. Went to see 2 theatre productions - wizard of o z and wicked. Saw andrew lloyd webber during intermission. Had hair done, eyebrow waxing then shopping after having visited aquarium and madame tussaud's. Entry to both were expensive, and long wait to see waxworks, so would book in advance. Purchased all day tube/bus tickets which was better than tour bus options. Tubes get really busy, so stay together. Wonderful week-end, sore feet and fairly long journey back to scotland but really worth it. Could'nt have done it cheaper online. "superbreak" give a great service.

One night stay. Only 1 minute walk from Lancaster Gate tube station. Excellent links on central line to most areas of London. Hotel staff very welcoming. Evening meal and breakfast were both very good and well presented. Hotel lift a little small but only 4 floors so stairs not too much of a problem. Room warm, clean and reasonably sized. En-suite with shower quite adequate. Bed very comfortable. Throughout, the hotel is quite adequate but could in places receive a bit of tlc as some of the decor looks a little tired. Would not hesitate to book another stay at this hotel.

Visited Covent Garden and had great time wandering around. Visited theatre and saw Love Never Dies. This was excellent. Then went to hotel. Was quite disappointed as the hotel desperately needs renovating, and there was no tea/coffee making facilities' the view from the window was the car park! Visited camden town and this was very enjoyable. Sat at the lock side, and watched the world go by. Then caught train home.

The hotel was on the circle line - which was closed - but was also on the "big bus" route - the bus stop was outside the hotel - which was brilliant and which we used several times. The hotel is a little bastion of old fashioned englishness in a sea of modern buildings, was very reasonably priced through Superbreak, and aside from outside noise at night and the lack of tea and coffee in the room, was lovely, and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Trip was a gift from my daughter to see Sister Act. I was also able to meet up with my brother who lives in London. The hotel was near Oxford Street and right next to underground which was very good for getting around. A bit disapointed with the hotel as lift was not working and we were 3rd floor so we got plenty of exersise all weekend. Room did not have tea or coffee making so cost £4 every time myself and daughter wanted a cup of tea. First night stayed in hotel for meal waitress found it difficult to understand our order also wine ordered white and was given red took a while to get her to understand. In the end I took back to the bar myself to get it changed also meal was not hot. Still had a great weekend.

We arrived in London Liverpool street at 1pm. I had picked the hotel at Lancaster gate because it was very convient to the tube. Both the central line from Liverpool and the Jubilee line to The O2 in the evening. The hotel was a little past it's sell by date but every thing was clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful. The only dissapointment was having no tea or cofee facilities in the room.In the evening we went to the O2 to see the Dancing on Ice show. We were in the Superbreak VIP lounge. It was fabulous and made a good night an excellent night. All I can say is whenever we want to see a show in London in the future, Superbreak will be our first port of call.Thank you foe excellent arrangements.

Hotel was ideal as I was only 5 mins from Paddington for train to Hayes. My partner came down and is not used to London so i could take her out of the front door , walk ten yards and point out the end of Oxford Street which allowed her to occupy her time whilst I attended the meeting. If you didn't like the shops then Hyde Park is on the door step for an early morning/evening stroll. Whilst there on the Saturday visited the Xmas Fayre in Hyde Park which we enjoyed, and a friend took us to the ice rink at Somerset House which was a lovely setting for such a thing. Hotel itself is a good , value for money hotel right next to Lancaster Gate tube. Nothing special but would have no reservations in returning. Staff were pleasant.

We have dealt with Superbreaks before after a recommendation from a work collegue, we have also stopped at the London Elizabeth Hotel before with Superbreaks. This hotel is ideal and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others, the staff are extremely friendly, the location next to Hyde Park is an ideal base having the Lancaster Gate tube station across the road. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the facilities are all and more than we required. This break was booked only the day before we travelled and we got absolutely just what we wanted (including 3 seats for a show which was shown on the internet to be fully booked) which is a great credit to Superbreaks in itself. We had to collect our travel tickets from Superbreaks Offices in York on the day of travel due to the short notice. When we arrived the tickets were waiting for us as arranged and the office staff that we met were extremely helpful and friendly. Finally to the cost of this break, the train travel to London came at a fraction of the price quoted to me at my local station and the Hotel costs were also very reasonable. I would recommend the services of Superbreaks to all and would not hesitate to book breaks with them again in the future.

The Elizabeth Hotel was fine very well located for Hyde Park, Bus and underground, only lacking in bedroom tea/coffee making facilities. The trip to the Exhibition at XL was disappointing hardly worth the effort of the longish journey via the Docklands Railway. Harrods had better HiFi and audio visual displays. The after dark walk Tower Bridge to Houses of Parliament on the south bank is to be recommended.

The hotel room G18 in the London Elizabeth hotel was appalling. I don't think it had been decorated in years. the carpet was dirty and the walls were dirty and stained with cracks on the wall. bathroom was also not of a good standard cracked tiles and bare filament on broken light bulb. Not what we expected at all. we still had a brilliant time. Buy bus passes for £3.50 per day from bus stop outside of hotel (this was a plus) and you can go anywhere. we did the London eye, boat trip on the Thames, Tower of London, princess diana memorial garden (just opposite hotel in Hyde Park). Travelled constantly on the buses and saw loads, it was excellent.

The hotel is just off Kensington Gardens, a fab place to unwind and have a coffee sitting in front of the fountains. The hotel is a tad jaded in the regency style with sloping floors, old fashioned but with character, a short walk from Paddington, the breakfast was good but the staff were really polite and attentive.

Kids Day in London

A customer from Dublin who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Stay Date: 03/06/08

Overall Hotel Rating:

5 out of 5

We had a last minute opportunity to visit London for one day. Booked hotel through Superbreak a few days in advance of travel. Having checked reviews of London Elizabeth Hotel on a number of other websites booked it through Superbreak as it gave best price. I was travelling with two childtren so had a triple room. It was at the top of the house (third floor) , no air conditioning but had a fan in the room. One double and one single fold up bed, really clean bathroom with great shower. Best way I feel to describe the hotel is "faded grandeur" - spotlessly clean, lovely staff but decor is a bit dated. Breakfast was very good fo the price we paid - continental or full english. Staff were very helpful with advice on day tours etc. Would definitely stay here again. We did the Big Bus Tour and Cruise on the Thames. Walked around the Tower of London and over Tower Bridge. Did London Dungeon Tour which the kids loved but I found a bit long - takes about two hours. They loved shopping on Oxford Street and so did I!

The hotel was odd with poor service. The room looked grubby and was decorated like Sherlock Holmes opium den! There were no tea and coffee facilities and a pot of tea for 4 cost nearly £10 - after a 3 hr drive.

Went to London for Hyde Park calling festival. All the bands were great except for Jet. Chris Cornell, Peter Gabrial, The Feeling, Aerosmith and Jason Mraz were particularly good.Went to Campden Market on Sunday morning which was fantastic, its absolutly huge although a lot of the stores sell the same things. The food was great.London Elizabeth hotel was not great, no tea or coffee in the very small room. Shower was the worst I have ever had - it was like a tap and only had about 4 holes. On the plus side breakfast was fab.

We got on the Big Bus Company tour, you can get off and off at most attractions and your ticket is valid for 24 hours, we saw most of the sites by doing this.We went to support family running in the London Marathon getting around on the day was very difficult, so get out early and get a good view point early.Don't try and do too much in a day because a lot of the day is spent getting from one place to another.

A great weekend was had by all of our friends & family. The hotel was excellent, the staff being very , very helpful. The sight seeing in London was fantastic only problem was that a prebooked flight on the London Eye was cancelled due to "technical problems".The best by far was the musical The Sound of Music.

I travelled to several architectural sites as well as to the Natural History Museum. The top deck of a traditional bus is a great way to see London, but the bendy buses are useless.Never travel in London without using an Oyster Card. They are very convenient and give massive savings.

I bought a travel card for £5.10 which gave me free travel for as many journeys as possible on the tube, I think it also covered buses as well but I did not try them. A very good deal as I understand it is approximately £3.00 per tube journey even if it is just one stop.Just as an aside - I was disappointed that the hotel did not have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Every hotel I have stayed at in London has provided this facility. Surely it would be in their interests to provide this.

The hotel was being decorated and so there were builders outside my room. In fact, when I first arrived at my room, they had wedged the door open and were charging their phones in my room. The window in my room was cracked and the bottom catch was broken. The floor and wall tiles in the bathroom were cracked and broken. The lift kept breaking down (and I was on the 4th floor).All-in-all a very shabby place to stay.

Booked a one night stay at the London Elizabeth Hotel, Lancaster Gate, as a treat for my 15 year old daughter and her friend. We booked the train from Shropshire to London return through Superbreak. Wonderful weekend - did plenty of shopping in Oxford St and Covent Garden - wish we had more time in Covent Garden. To get around I bought an adult and 2 child day run around tickets for zones 1 and 2 on the underground for £6.90 total per day, so as well as shopping we made flying visits to all the sights and historic locations. The hotel was basic, but very clean, warm and certainly comfortable enough for a night's stay. The breakfast was continental with as much to eat as you wanted, with a £4 supplement to have English. The hotel and train fare for the three of us cost £145 - excellent value. Will certainly do it again.

IT was very hot when we were on holiday but it was great fun arriving at the hotel and being able to go fro a stroll in Kensington Gardens where we ended up at Diana's Memorial Fountain and then having dinner in the Black and Blue Restuarant in Glouster road. The children enjoyed the mead and then a run through the park back to the hotel. The Tower of London was very good and it had the best cafeteria for children and cold water available to drink without having to pay for it. The Big Bus Company Tour and boat trip of London was excellant and very informative.
