Belvoir Castle

Set in a vibrant city full of fascinating attractions and countless activities, our hotels in Leicester are a great choice for a city break. Easily accessed by road and by rail, Leicester can be reached on both the M1 and the A47, and is an important stop on the Midland Main Line.

A large, thriving and ethnically diverse city of more than 300,000 people, Leicester is not to be underestimated as a short break destination; with fantastic shopping at both Highcross and Haymarket Shopping Centre and famously good curry houses on Belgrave Road, there’s plenty going on here. Our hotels in Leicester are a great base for a short break in this cosmopolitan and historic city and for exploring its surrounding area.

  • A must-visit, especially with the family, Leicester is home to the National Space Centre, one of the country’s leading Space Science attractions; the centre houses six exhibition galleries, a dome cinema and a planetarium.
  • The Curve Theatre – opened in 2008 and designed by architect Rafael Vinoly – is one of the most exciting arts venues in the region, regularly welcoming touring productions and staging new shows.
  • Our Leicester hotels are also perfect for attending the annual Leicester Comedy Festival – one of the most renowned in the world. The city also plays host to the largest Diwali celebrations outside of India and the UK’s second largest Caribbean Carnival each year.

Whipper Inn Oakham is a delightful old Inn offering excellent food, wonderful old oak beams and log fires. A perfect place to spend New Year's Eve and Day. The staff are very friendly and cheerful. See More  Read more information Rooms were warm and very comfortable and very hot water in the large bathroom. The evening gala meal and following entertainment was excellent. Disappointing Hotel

Stay Date: 24/11/12, a customer aged 45-64 from Norwich who stayed at 3* Bosworth Hall (2 Night Half Board Offer) in Market Bosworth wrote this review.

Although situated in a beautiful historic building and parkland setting, the Bosworth Hall Hotel needs a good shake-up. The staff were perfunctory, some bordering on rudeness; the bedroom small, See More  Read more information tired and uncomfortable; the meals not up to standard; the pool and spa an extra charge. The hotel seemed pretty busy for November, so clearly the business is there- but Britannia Hotels need to 'uptheir game'.   Collapse  Hide

Brook Whipper Inn

Stay Date: 05/02/12, a customer from Uk who stayed at 3* Brook Whipper-In Hotel in Oakham wrote this review.

Hotel nice atmosphere, cosy particularly the bar area which had a very welcoming log fire. Our room was in the courtyard and whilst spacious needed some updating. Didn't mind the distressed See More  Read more information furniture (that added character) but carpet was very dirty and needed replacing and lamp shades broken. Loo seat also loose and radiator in bathroom didn't work. Again needs updating. Staff very pleasantalthough receptionist was a bit officious on arrival which was slightly off putting. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and served piping hot. Restaurant rutland chinese next door to hotel is highlyrecommended. Excellent food and really friendly people. Enjoyed rutland water and the small town of oakham. Sight seeing slightly hampered on our visit as heavy snowfall!.   Collapse  Hide

Warm New Year

Stay Date: 01/01/12, a customer from Uk who stayed at 3* Brook Whipper-In Hotel 1 Night New Year Break in Oakham wrote this review.

Ours was a 2 night new year's eve package. Nice old place which would cost a fortune to bring up to a very high standard and such a spend may also undermine its charm. All our meals were fine See More  Read more information although the wine list was a bit pricey for this establishment. Mr Singh (the manager) worked hands on and hard to keep us all happy. Lots of old beams, flagged floors and open fires. Very authentic. Ourroom was a little dark and was just missing a standard lamp or similar. Oakham is a nice little place with rutland water, stamford and melton mowbray on its doorstep. The a1 is only 10 miles or so away.   Collapse  Hide

Good facilities, but poor signage to extra parking spaces. It took 15 minutes to park. The place was overcrowded and there was a two hour wait for dinner. We didn't get dinner until 9.30pm See More  Read more information   Collapse  Hide

Discovering Rutland with my sons

Stay Date: 04/06/11, a customer who stayed at 3* Brook Whipper-In Hotel in Oakham wrote this review.

Rutland is the smallest county in England but has so much to offer. My wife was away, so I hit The A1 and travelled up to Oakham with my two sons. We stayed at The Whipper Inn. A place simply See More  Read more information steeped in history in this quaint market town. The hotel is in a stunning location and enjoys its own car park so coming and going were very easy. We packed the weekend with activities - mostly based atRutland Water only about 20 minutes from the hotel. My boys enjoyed Windsurfing on Saturday, whilst on Sunday we hired bikes and cycled around this huge body of water. The sun shone throughout. It reallywas a great weekend. Back at The Whipper Inn we decided a gift was in order for mum. Shopping in this town is excellent. Not the usual big chains. We were sorry to say goodbye to our room and thestaff. If every weekend in England was like this we would no go abroad.   Collapse  Hide
