Stays two nights in Riga. Bored out of my head - there was little to do but keep away from the casinos and nightclubs. Eating out was very expensive and too westernised. Where is the Latvian culture that they seem to be trying so hard to avoid?

A customer from Glasgow who stayed at 3* Albert Hotel in Riga wrote this review.
Is long enough! Lovely town, very clean, very sage but not a lot to do and the museums all seemed to be shut on Mondays AND Tuesday. Go to the markets in the zepplin hangers - bit of an eye opener. Prices in shops were comparable to the rest of Europe so not as cheap as we expected. Service in cafes was very slow, but that seemed to be the way of things. Biggest tip we can give you is to travel hand luggage only. We were in our hotel and having a meal before others on our flight had made it to the front desk. Go to Riga in SUMMER - it really is Baltic! The people are very polite and courteous, but not very smiling or welcoming. Public transport is efficient and very cheap. The LAT is more or less on par with the Pound STG so it was an easy conversion!
