room was clean but it was the size of a closet so if your with family go to another hotel, no privacy, they had a curtain separating the bedroom and the bathroom I bet the whole room was under 150 sqft. and thats the whole room bed and bathroom if your by yourself its fine, also couldn't find ticket from parking garage and I seriously thought we were gonna have to call the National Guard to get it out after finally finding it, we were good to go. Also we were unpacking in front of hotel and they wouldn't let us take the dolly 10 feet to the curb to get our stuff, I mean 10 feet so we physically had to walk every bag inside, and employees stood and watched, also computers downstairs didn't work so we had to go upstairs to check in had to leave my children downstairs with the bags, when I finally got to the reception desk it was 2:45 and check-in was 3:00 said it was a 25 dollar charge to check in early even though our room was ready, I'm like 15 min. so had to wait 15 min. to check -in, not a bad price for NY but much better options Collapse

Guys, I am Gold level Hotels.com and TripAdvisor level 6. (i.e travel a lot, mostly NYC). I guess the good reviews for this hotel are from people who didn’t have a issue and so had no need to speak with management. But if you have a problem, the hotel staff will turn against you. Here is our story. The MINOR issue. The warning sign to customer sat issues was not being able to get a person to answer the phone (try it yourself, call and ask for the front desk. Good luck). On attempt four I found someone and let them know my wife would check in first. I confirmed she did not need my credit card. They said no problem. On arrival they said no way. They had to charge her in full and then could do a reversal and recharge. Instead she just waited the hour for me to arrive as it would have taken at least that long to straighten out with CC companies later. They were happy to let a mother with small kids wait. MAJOR ISSUE 1 Being misinformed and made to wait was a minor issue. How they reacted to my complaint was worse (NB I did not ask for any compensation, I was upset on behalf of my family as we had actively tried to avoid this problem and wanted to highlight the miscommunication to management). 1) When i asked to speak to a manager check in guy (Joey) refused to call one unless I explained to him the problem first. Then he wanted to recite policy and argue with me. After repeated requests to speak to a manager he became visibly angry and walked away. 2) The manager (Angel) pretty much said “shall i just cancel your stay” in other words “if you don’t like us, leave”. This was a veiled threat to throw us out late in the day. Apparently if you complain you are the enemy. So… know this. If you have no air-con, or heat, or TV or power or they overbook or give you the wrong room category or any of the million other things that can go wrong when you travel, this hotel will do nothing to help. They have an “airline” culture. You are a number. Get in line or else. MAJOR ISSUE TWO. We had the family bunk room but the upper bunk is not safe for children as the safety rail has a large gap. A small child will slide thru. SEE ATTACHED PHOTO. my wife had to sleep p there. Other minor issues No coffee maker in the room No mini fridge in the room. Not all channels on the TV played. Disposable plastic cups rather than a reusable cup in the bathroom (not very green). Cheap liquid soap rather than bar soap. Most of the furniture is plastic. An inconvenient location being way over on the West side. Windows face west and rooms heat up. loud 10th avenue traffic. But these are minor. the child safety and lack of client focus are why i recommend you avoid. In short this felt more like an upscale hostel with service to match. There are many hotels in NYC that focus on the customer. This is not one of them. Collapse

This hotel experience was a "New" kind of one for us. When you enter the lobby there is a bank of kiosks at which you can check in. If you don't have the digital QR code, there is a person who will direct you to the elevators and send you to the floor where you can find a check in desk. Each elevator has a different genre of music playing. A couple of them are quite amusing to listen to as you ride up or down. Our room was simple with a modern euro styling. The comfortable bed reclined like a lounge chair, which made more room to move around when not sleeping. The light switch by the bed allowed for a soft dim purple glow around the wall that housed the television if you didn't want the brighter overhead light on. The toilet, sink & shower were all by the full length window with a roll down shade that looked out on the city. The rooftop bar & terrace had bright colorfully comfortable couches, chairs and coffee tables to sit and take a load off with a beverage and app. We only had breakfast at the restaurant. The Mediterranean breakfast egg dish was very good! I highly recommend it, if you like a little spice in your breakfast meal! Checkout was easy and we were offered a ride to the airport for around the same price as a cab. The location was great for the places we wanted to visit in the area. Overall, this is a great place to stay if you want to stay in Manhattan at a reasonable price . Collapse

generally positive and a good combination of beds (queen and bunks) for a family with 2 teenagers. not quite the 'high tec' experience we had anticipated, although the wifi is very good. The high tec 'wall' was an LG TV with standard channels and a dodgy remote and an out of date connection hub for an ipod. The beds were very comfortable and bedding lovely and clean and replaced frequently. the roof top bar/restaurant was lovely. The area is not great (bit dirty), particularly around port authority bus station, but we didn't feel unsafe and the closest subway station about 10 mins walk is one of the main station, so easy to get anywhere by subway. good choice for central location for a family of 4 .
