Note that the XO Couture Hotel is an ALCOHOLFREE hotel! As far as I could find out, this is not notified on the XO website nor on the various booking sites. According to the staff they currently do not have an alcohol license and it is unclear if and when they will get one. According to the flipside of the room key (see photo), it is an 100% Alcoholfree and Smokefree hotel so it sounds more like a policy kind of thing. It was a small disappointment for me when I arrived at 10pm in the mood for a beer before bedtime. There is a modern style minibar in the room but it is not functional. The hotel became an XO Hotel in October 2017 after having been a Best Western Premiere hotel before (the BW signs are still visible everywhere). Before that time it was a school (ROC) and before that the office of the Dutch Telephone Directory (De Telefoongids). The XO organisation is fairly nebulous, they have a well working website floating a number of hotels in Amsterdam, but no background as to why and how they have been acquiring hotels in Amsterdam, what is their corporate philosophy, etc appears to be available on the web. As a frequent sleeper member of many hotel chains I take an interest in such matters. There appears to be no loyalty program. The room is very modern and actually quite nice, but one small remark is that the bed was not properly made, exposing part of the mattress at the foot side. After remaking it myself it was fine -the sheets were actually big enough- and I slept reasonably well. A good feature is the professional style Nespresso machine in the room, well working airconditioning, nice toiletries. Faint noise from the nearby A10 audible but not too bad. Very good value for money I have to say. Parking below the hotel was easy and not too expensive at 15 Euros. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Collapse

Stayed with my wife (~30 both) and 4 years old daughter for a 1 full week. Had a room with 3 distinct beds but 2 were pulled together (which makes uncomfortable sleeping at them for a couple)... not sure what kind of room that is because web site does not have it! Anyway, when you arrive to the hotel, you do self-check in at 1 of 6 terminals, so convenient! Then you use one of 4 elevators (4,5 week days they were always available, you never wait, but Friday evenining and Weekend - more people, higher load). Room - mattress is good, bad - creaks. Pillows are ok and lots of them. Couple of chairs, big mirror, lots of lights, good conditioner, cupboard that I'm not sure how can fit 3 adults' cloth, coffe machine, usb charge socket, iron, safe, 3 0.3 bottles of water supplied once. TV has SmartTV, with English only alphabet (but you can choose few channels per language icons). Bath door creaks times more than bed, like thunder - be sure everyone will awake if you use it. Sink, shower cabin, toilet are good, though. One of shower units started dribbling once - had to move it slightly and that stopped, funny :). Hot and cold water. Broken towel rail :( - towels were always falling to the flour. Mini bar does not work but is promised to be provided later on Gym - a room, not big, 3 cardio, 1 abs, 1 dumbell rack from 2 to 20 kb, fit ball, careamat, hyper extension, 1 bench, conditioners, mirrors, low ceiling, I visited it 3 times and didn't see any other person there :) Near gym - "entertainment room" with a pool, foosball and air hockey. All 3 can be used for free - all are grew weary. Require maintenance. Restaurant - works only from 7-11 (breakfast) and 18-23 (dinner). Breakfasts are broadly same each day. Restaurant dishes and glasses are quite old and even cleaved. Hotel has own bicycle rent service, but who doesn't have it in Amsterdam? :) A slot machine in the lobby with water, LIDL and Albert Heijn (where you cannot pay with a debit card) are nearby Tram and Underground are near the hotel. The hotel has a very modern feel and vibe. It’s neat and the staff are very friendly except for one at the front desk. I would have given a perfect score if not for her. Also, it’s nice that the hotel has a fair amount of selections to choose from in the buffet for breakfast considering the relatively cheap rate they charge. The location of the hotel is not so far from Dam Square and other tourist destinations. Deflandlaan station is just in front the hotel so going around and getting to wherever you want via tram isn’t so hard. Collapse
