We were blown away! From start to finish the service at this hotel surpassed itself. On making the booking, I called to ask what offers were available for the dates we were looking for and were given all the option variables including which room would be best suited to our family set up (a couple and a 2 year old). We were given in depth information about how the rooms were laid out and where a cot would fit. After making the booking online, I was then called shortly after by a staff member who wanted to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay. A fridge and changing mat was offered to be put in our room on arrival. We were also offered childcare services and asked if we’d like to make a booking for our evening meal. One the day of our arrival at the hotel, unfortunately the snow was too bad so I rang the hotel to find out their cancellation policy which we were really upset to do. The hotel were fantastic and because of the weather offered to move our reservation to another date at no extra charge- what fantastic service!! It made our day. So we were extremely excited to finally go on our little overnighter. The staff from start to finish have been amazing. Everyone is super friendly and makes you feel at home. The surroundings are beautiful. We spent well over an hour exploring the grounds. The swimming facilities are excellent with everything you could need. The hotel is so well kitted out for families with children (and babies!!). Books and games in the corner of each room. The house has a rugged feel but that just adds to the ambience. High tea for the kids was a joy- made really special by being served immediately and having little name tags on each table for the children. The evening meal for adults was to die for. We couldn’t compliment the chef enough. It really stunned us. We had the offer of complimentary baby monitoring service but found we didn’t need it as our baby monitor worked on the free WiFi. We just couldn’t think of anything to complain about and we will most certainly be returning. If you’re in doubt about booking this hotel with children- don’t doubt and just book! It’s the most family friendly hotel we’ve ever stayed in! Thanks so much for a fantastic night!!! Collapse

We had a lovely stay at Woolley Grange. It was a half term trip to Bath to experience some Roman history for our 7 yo daughter and 5 yo son. Woolley Grange was so lovely we ended up spending our first day just at the hotel taking it easy, making bird feeders with the head gardener, swimming in the indoor pool, playing table tennis and generally relaxing with the excellent family activities. Our room was Tudor at its best although a little small for a family of 4 and like the rest of the hotel could do with some upgrading and redecoration. That would be our only comment...the hotel was lovely and staff were fantastic - it is perfect for a family stay but for the price I think the rooms and facilities could be updated. In particular the dining areas which were dated and a little dark. The menu and food were fantastic for us....but the options for the kids were a little basic. All in all we had a lovely stay....we came away feeling rested but that it was a little expensive for the quality of the decor and children's food. Collapse

We came here for a 3 night break and given the price we had very high expectations! We stayed in a Courtyard Room and were very disappointed. It is extremely tired looking with a small double bed. The window had a cracked pane and the whole room was crying out for a refurb. However, we decided to try and focus on the positives but were let down again at kids tea as we waited for nearly an hour for 2 bowls of spaghetti Bolognese. When I asked the waitress what was happening with the kids food I was told the kitchen was very busy. We suspect she forgot to put our order in)! I later complained at reception who were polite and offered us a refund on the tea. Unfortunately our room continued to bother us as there is very little sound proofing and we could hear an awful lot of noise from an energetic family above. Unfortunately they were early risers so we were woken every morning at 6.00am (despite our little angels who were in adjoining room with bunk beds where it was quieter didn't wake til 7.30am). I did go and lie on the floor in their room one morning in my need for sleep and quiet! We were close to leaving early but as we had made a very long trip there we decided to stick it out. The dinner and service in the evening was excellent and it was great to have the baby listening service. We were offered some money off the room which we didn't think was nearly enough given the sleep deprivation and poor standard of the room. After a lengthy discussion we were given some more off the bill. But we still left feeling cheated of a restful break and still left with a pretty hefty bill. It's frustrating as it could be great hotel but it is all looking rather tired and in need of some investment. Collapse

The hotel website is excellent and communication in the run up to our stay including booking our daughter (16mo) in at the creche and booking spa treatments was excellent. Given all of that and the price of our stay our expectations were high. Unfortunately they weren't even close to being met and we left a night early. The disappointments started from the moment we arrived. Parking is tight and nowhere near sufficient enough for all of the staff and guests. We stayed in February. I can't imagine what it's like in summer. Check-in was chaotic, there were a number of other families all waiting in the same small space. We stood around for 30min waiting to be checked-in. However once we eventually did speak with a member of staff (and all staff throughout our stay) were friendly and helpful. Our room (Courtyard) was was actually made up of two small rooms, one with a double bed and one with bunk beds. Both were clean but tired looking. But more to the point, you can expect a king size bed even at the Premier Inn. At £300/night, even if that includes dinner and breakfast, this is not acceptable. The adjoining room with bunk beds was adequate. The hotel is tired looking and could do with an internal face lift. There are boxes of toys in some of the rooms which is a nice touch but most were broken, contained missing parts, or just generally well loved. The only exception to the quality of the facilities that we saw were the spa and pool which were lovely. We had a nice time splashing around with our daughter there. We had dinner with our daughter at 5:30. The kid friendly touches at dinner were nice (eg wipes, plastic plates/cups, name tags). Our daughter received a surprise "starter" of veggie sticks, pita and hummus. The veggie sticks (carrots and cucumbers) were dry and shrivelled. They had obviously been prepped a considerable amount of time in advance. The pita was hard and stale. The humus had a crust on it. Her main turned up promptly but I asked for pasta with pesto and we were presented with pasta with tomato sauce instead. At this point she was hungry and so we just had to roll with it. The baby listening service worked once we managed to connect through the phone in our room. Our dinner was average at best (starters: terrine ok, salmon tasteless; mains: gnocchi stodgy, steak, not bad; desserts: cheeses, ok, ice cream, ok). By this point in the stay we were both feeling pretty disappointed. After a poor nights sleep and breakfast that was even worse than dinner the night before we decided to call it a day and head home. In principle, this hotel sounds wonderful and it is family friendly, but in terms of value for money it falls way short. We did provide some of this feedback to the manager when we checked out and our daughter's evening meal and the gratuity charge were waved. Be that as it may, we would not come back and would not recommend to family and friends. Collapse

We booked a special afternoon tea to celebrate a family birthday . A booking was made with all the details of the person's birthday . We were told leave it to them they will make it special . Upon arrival our group was told there was no note of a booking and therefore no details of the occasion. For £21-50 per head , the special afternoon tea is supposed to be a time where you are pampered and made to feel special . One person was given an ordinary coke instead of the diet ordered .The tea arrived , minus the milk for which we had to chase someone to get some action. The sandwiches and cakes were disappointing . The scones were warm but very small .Rarely did anyone bother to come over and ask whether everything was okay or whether we wanted anymore tea. The staff seemed to be just going through the motions . Everyone in our group were bitterly disappointed on a day which should have been special and turned out to be a disaster . Thank goodness we had good company to make us feel better . Collapse
