Westminster Hotel - Opera
(Paris) 4 4 Star:
Per Person Per Night
Even in Paris, some hotels seem more Parisian than others. The Hotel Westminster, despite its regal English name, is such a place. Intimate, close and convivial, from the Haussmannian facade to the flowered, serene patio, the property exudes a joie de vivre. Located amongst the prestigious addresses of the high fashion and jewellery district, the four-star Hotel Westminster is a stone’s throw from the Place Vendome, the Opera and the Tuileries gardens. For more than 200 years, the hotel on calm and quiet La Rue de la Paix has welcomed everyone from royalty – like the Duke of Westminster, from whom it takes its name – to those wanting to discover the art of living.
Drawing from classical periods of French history, from Louis XV and Louis XVI to Napoleon III and Regency, the Hotel Westminster is as timeless as it is distinctive and sophisticated. Each of the 80 air-conditioned guest rooms and 22 suites ranging from Superior to the Vendome Apartments is decorated to perfection with accoutrements like brilliant crystal, elegant dressing tables, exquisite Toile de Jouy wall hangings and marble mantelpiece fireplaces. The result is comfortable, fashionable and historical.
A million words could never paint an accurate portrait of Paris. A true daydream of a city, it lives and breathes in both quiet romantic moments and in bold displays of the world’s finest art, food and sightseeing. As for Hotel Westminster, the most prestigious neighbourhood in all of Paris is directly outside the door. Steps away, legendary shops line the Place Vendome and Rue de la Paix, including Cartier, Mellerio dits Meller, Van Cleef & Arpels among others.

I am always a discriminating traveler who finds faults with everything when I travel...I found myself being wowed by this great hotel in Paris. The location is the BEST in Paris...Centrally located from every area, walking distance to most landmarks in Paris and the best shopping area... NearThe Rodeo Drive/Fifth Ave of Paris....What makes this place special is the service and the accommodations...First, kudos to Nicolas the Concierge who knows everything about Paris and more....Then, Lydia in the dining room who went back in the kitchen when I got there as they were closing to make sure they baked me fresh croissants and eggs...They both came fresh and all the pastries were hot from the oven...Their breakfast buffet is nice and filling! When staying there, you feel like you're in someone's home in Paris...the staff is very friendly. Katarina, front of house manager went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect!...You can tell the hotel is well managed because the staff all seem happy and super friendly and always ready to help. If you want to feel like you're at home in Paris, the Westminster is a great place to stay. Collapse

The Westminster is in a fabulous location 100 metres from the Place Vendome and close to the Opera Garnier. However, the room was very small - difficult to get past the end of the bed, cramped and pretty tired - not as described on the website. The staff were very friendly, the public rooms are good and the hotel has valet parking. Breakfast was good but the meal in the bar was very average. Collapse

Had been looking forward so much to celebrating a special birthday with a visit to Paris and whilst Paris certainly didn't fall short, the hotel room which we had fell so far short of what we have experienced in 4 star hotels all over the World that I wish that we had walked out and found an alternative hotel. The only good point was that the staff at least smiled whilst you voiced your displeasure at the quality of the room. Can only assume that they have heard it so often that it is a bit like the proverbial water off a duck's back Our room was shabby with no facility to make a drink, coffee from bar 7euros for a small cup--What good value. Our main gripe however was the bathroom 1)Net blinds damaged, window frames with ingrained grime. 2)Tiles on front of bath had been removed,no doubt to facilitate a repair but had just been roughly replaced 3Paint on ceiling peeling 4)Shower screen fittings dirty and corroding 5)If you turned bath tap on shower also ran and could not be turned off. 6)Just one 1fluid ounce shower gel provided for 2 people. Told that we had only booked a standard room as if that was a justification for a room that is so in need of being gutted and refurbished at the earliest opportunity.Would not have been happy if it was a 2 star hotel but certainly prices charged are not 2 star prices. To anyone looking to book a room ,would certainly think twice about booking here, even though location of hotel is a plus for it. Collapse

My husband and I had intended on staying here for 5 nights. We were greeted nicely by the staff and check in was smooth. Upon entering our room, 101, we were more than a little disappointed. The room was shabby to say the least, the decor and furnishings very dated. We went looking for a kettle to make tea to digest what we were seeing however, there wasn’t one and when I opened a cupboard, to my horror the handle fell off! The bathroom was not any better with stains on the floor, the shower and the hand basin. The marble on the side of the shower was broken and looked dirty. The carpet was dirty ( I know because I dropped an earring on the floor and had to retrieve it). The books for reading In the room were also damaged. Room 101 is definitely an awful experience and not what is to be expected in this level of hotel. This was a special trip for us celebrating our wedding anniversary, we travelled for three months through Europe and Asia and if I am really honest this was the worst place in which we stayed. We have been to Paris many times and this was by far the worst accomodation we have experienced. We advised staff that we would be checking out early and they did not seem at all perturbed that they had two very unhappy guests. The hotel also took over a month to refund our money-this has never happened to us with any other hotel in the world. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere, there are plenty of options. We wished we had not stayed here at all. Collapse
