We have stayed here many times over the years, knowing exactly what we get. We hD booked a corner room but discovered they all have adjoining doors, with the associated noise problem, so we downgraded, but didn't receive the promised refund for the difference. Our bill was further wrong, and the tall guy on reception said it would be sorted, but it wasn't, so now we have the hassle of trying to get it sorted from the UK. He didn't seem interested at all. When we checked in they tried hard for us to not have housekeeping, for 2 weeks???? We declined. Cleaning standards are slipping. No clean bedding for 2 weeks. Floor vacuumed once, bathroom floor never washed at all. Every time we came back the AC had been switched on and the room was so cold. What don't they understand about leaving the AC off ? There was also a dog wandering around the corridor. The lifts should work with keys, as anyone can enter them and wander around the floors. Slightly disappointing overall Collapse

So I’m on a two day business trip and had a little more than an hour of down time for lunch. So I grabbed a salad from the mall and quickly changed and headed over to the pool to enjoy some Texan sun. Much to my surprise, people were repairing a small brown wall on the deck. That meant that guests didn’t get to use the pool or even exit onto the rooftop area. Plead with the conceirge who was not helpful at all. I could go to another Westin hotel nearby (no time for that) or I could eat in the bar (no sun there – just overpriced drinks). Thanks Westin, appreciate you depriving me of my hour of fun and sun. I’ve always stayed at this property because it’s conventiently located and reasonably clean – but I’ll reevaluate that in the future. Business / mall hotels hotel are a dime a dozen in this area – it’s how you make your guests feel that count! #SPGGold Collapse

I booked the room through a special from Hotwire. I was pleased with the hotel itself and you really cannot beat the location. There are literally a dozen restaurants all within a 5 minute walk including Cheesecake Factory, Shake Shack, Capital Grille, Ruth Chris and various other upscale chains. The staff were super friendly and helpful, check in was a breeze. I received a corner room on the 10th floor, which was huge, the bathroom alone was bigger than some hotel rooms I have stayed at. Not bad for $80 a night. Parking is free if you park in the garage yourself, not too difficult, you just have to drive down one level and there is elevator access directly to your floor from the garage. Valet is available for $35 a night. Room service was pretty good, took about 25 minutes to get a salad, sandwich and dessert. The food was great considering it was midnight, but the charge was $70, a lot for one person. The downside are all of the minute charges they nail you with. $10 a day for the wifi. $1.00 a minute to use the 1 computer in the business center. A hotel this size needs more than one computer, this was a major pain for me. $.45 per page to print. They did accomodate and let me check out at 1:00pm instead of 12:00 which is a plus. All in all a nice hotel with a great staff but beware of the nickel and dime charges that add up!! Collapse
Very handy for the Galleria

I was given this hotel on a Hotwire deal, and whilst I was initially disappointed, once there I couldn't have been more pleased with what I got! On arrival around 8pm, I was given a disabled room close to the lifts on the 5th floor which was incredibly noisy. The following morning, I asked for a move, and was moved to the 8th floor away from the lift and the room was much nicer. My only real issue with the hotel was that housekeeping came at really odd times, some days were early, others were really late, and there didn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason to the routine. The on site restaurant was very nice, but I personally found the breakfasts overly sugary, pancakes were served with caramel syrup, and the breakfast waffles were more like a dessert - and it would have been nice to have more breakfast choices without eggs (some of us are allergic to them!) I would recommend the hotel to other travellers - its in a great location and the alternative restaurant next door is The Cheesecake Factory! Collapse
One of the worst hotels I have stayed at

So I will give the front desk a little credit - they were usually very nice. Except that one of them (not sure who) literally lied to a friend of mine about the parking telling her she could ONLY valet when they have a free parking garage. The floor we were on smelled very musty. Everything was an extra cost. We were at a conference that was supposed to be catered and EVERY TIME they ran out of food before everyone had eaten! By the 2nd day and 3rd meal everyone was clambering to get in line first to make sure there was food! They were loading their plates too because you could forget seconds. We ended up eating out one night after the dinner at Westin Oaks because they just did not have enough to eat. I am not talking about huge portions here - I am talking about by the time we went through there was no salad, a couple cups of veggies and a little meat and the people left were trying to be nice so everyone got a few tablespoons of food (and not dessert). And the pillows! I really have thought that people were quite strange when they complained about a bed at a hotel or something I deemed "silly" like pillows but I am not kidding when I say those pillows were terrible. You put your head on them and they sank right down to the bed! I did not sleep well at all and I am not a "princess and the pea" kinda girl. Shoot - I have 7 kids, anytime I get to stay in a hotel ALONE I am happy to sleep on just about anything! I did not sleep well at all and literally had a neck ache for days afterwards (really, I am not a complainer - just look at my other reviews - I am just telling it how it is!) I have to say, while I HATE leaving bad reviews, this place was not just "not the best". It was bad. Collapse
