If you've read any of my previous reviews you know that my reviews can get rather long. So here we go. I initially booked this hotel via the SPG website. I chose to book their Great Escape deal which included Free Internet. While booking I informed the agent that I would need an early check in. 10 am. The reservation process was a breeze. No problem. The day before check-in I call the hotel to verify my reservation and early check in. Both were confirmed by the front desk rep. Upon arrival (9:45 am approx) I proceeded to the counter to check in. Again I informed them that there should be a note in my reservation requesting an early check in. No problem until Sangeetha told me that there would be a $35 early check in fee. WHAT!!!!! I explained to her that no one told me about the fee; no one at the 800 number nor anyone at the hotel directly when I called to verify. I was then told that I could wait until 1 to check in for free or pay the $35.00. Being as though i was with my elderly mother, I wasn't going to make her wait to check in after a long 5 hour flight so I agreed to pay the $35.00. Also, the room I booked said Free Internet, upon check in I was told Free Wifi was not included, however I was provided the code. I also offered to show a screenshot of my reservation which clearly said Free Wifi, maybe that's why I was given the Wifi password. My room was prepaid and I was told that I would need to have a credit card on file for incidentals, no problem. Problem was they put a $267 hold on my card for incidentals. I thought that was a little steep, but ok. O I wake up the next morning to find that I have another hold on my card for 53.00. At 5am and I immediately get out of bed and go to the front desk to find out what's going on. I was told that i was probably because i had charges to the room, um did you bother to look because at that point there were no charges to the room. I wasn't given a clear answer as to why another incidental charge was being held so i had them to remove my card completely to avoid any additional problems. So here are the things that caught my attention. Although we didn't have a view we did have a balcony with furniture outside. When I opened the door of the balcony I was surprised to see a cigarette butt laying there. Clearly the room hadn't been dusted as there was a layer of dust on the alarm clock as well as the light on the nightstand. In the room there was something called a cooling unit, i'm guessing for wine. When I went to open the door, the top part fell off (which i have pictures of). The bathroom was clean, the beds were OK a little to soft for me but it was ok. The night before checking out as i always do at hotels i asked for a print out, only to find out that my prepaid room that was fully charged to my credit card (and had posted) was not showing on the bill. Only half of the total that I was charged for the room was showing on the hotel statement. How is that possible? After about five minutes or so, turns out there were two different tabs under my reservation, one under my husband and one under myself. Half of money that was paid for the room was on his tab, and half on the other tab that was under my name. ?????? Now I'm confused. I was told that it was weird that happened, um you think!!!! So now the full price that I prepaid for the room is showing on the bill. Everything is looking good. When checking out I ask for a print out of my bill, which I received and showed a $0 balance. I asked for the itemized bill and was told I couldn't get one. WHAT??? Now my mother is involved "this is ridiculous". I tell the gentleman that I was down here last night and was given an itemized bill, why couldn't he do the same. After a few minutes playing with the computer he was able to print out the bill. Guess what...... Wrong!!! They had me owing over $300.00. Why is this total due now $300 and not showing the full amount that I prepaid and the bill last night did. A few minutes later he produces the correct bill, again I was told for some reason there were two tabs associated with this room, one for my name and one for my husbands name and the money was split in half for some reason. Oh my god, really? The actual hotel was nice, lobby area is nice, great place to mingle, the pool area is nice, the workout room was adequate for a good workout while on the road. The food at the Daily Grill was good ( i would recommend the vegetable plate, very filling) If you stay here and need to go to the mall or Target, take an Uber it was only $4.39 and it's only five maybe ten minutes away with traffic. In the end, I could not have been happier to check out. If i ever go back and have to stay in the LAX area, I will not be staying at this Westin all due to billing issues. Johnny and Raul were very helpful, thanks to the both of you. Collapse

Had a stop over in LAX and needed a hotel close to the airport. I got a good deal on priceline. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was spacious. The hotel shuttle was ok, although it wasn't clear how often it runs. It seem like it runs every 30 minutes.

The Westin at LAX is a creature of extremes. The curb appeal, lobby and public areas are outstanding, dare I say, the best of the airport hotels. On the other hand the rooms and hallways above the ground level have been sadly neglected and are marginally better than Holiday Inn standards. Dining, by contrast, is quite good as Westin has wisely awarded the Daily Grill chain the concession for food and beverage for the expense account crowd (check out the happy hour; it is excellent, if you can find a seat). For tourist types and those on the sub-starvation budget, the Penang Thai restaurant next door just east of the Westin serves great food at bargain basement prices (for LAX). Now that Marriott has bought the Westin brand, a prudent investment in upgrading the rooms and hallways to Marriott standards could well transform this property into the flagship of Marriott's already impressive collection of hotels serving the Los Angeles airport. This place looks great on the outside, has a great gift shop, a wonderful restaurant and room service. My biggest complaint is the shower tiles all had mold between them. If you want to take a bath, you've got to try not to touch it. If I were renting a home, I'd certainly be charged for leaving a place like that. Very surprising for such a nice hotel? Also, Wifi is not free. We didn't feel like paying, so went to a coffee shop instead. Hey Westin, you lost money from your restaurant there! Collapse

everyone was very nice and helpful. we arrived early for check in and was greeted with a smile and offer to help. we were told we would be put on the early check in list and that we were first on the list. we had breakfast and when we were finished I checked and our room was ready. that was well ahead of the check in time. we were with a large group going to the Rose Bowl parade and game. we needed to get our boxed breakfast at 4:00am the day of the parade. they were very efficient had everything ready and very pleasant. breakfast was very good. we had a wonderful stay.
