It has been years since I last stayed here. On my recent trip to KL I decided to stay here because of it's close vicinity to where I needed to be. Located in the heart of Bukit Bintang, KL, where the shopping area is, it is very convenient for me to be staying here. It is also accessible through the LRT and plenty of taxis. The only drawback is that sometimes the traffic around the area can be a nightmare. At night there are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area. Walking distance to Bintang Walk with plenty of cafes, pubs and clubs. Pavillion, the shopping mall is just opposite the hotel. For ladies, this is the perfect hotel to stay in KL. You can even walk to KLCC from here. I was really impress when I arrived at the hotel. Even though it is considered an old hotel, they look after their standards, especially their front office staff including their concierge. I had a feeling of sincere welcome. What I noticed was that the lobby area is always bustling with people. My room was big in size and all the amenities were well maintained. Can't complain there. Breakfast was brilliant. There are so many things on offer apart from the usual spread of egg station, local and western delights, they also have a bit of Japanese and they all taste good. I was spoiled for choice. A must if you stay here. I also had their buffet lunch. An excellent variety of choice which includes Japanese and noodle station. Their desert spread was good too. Westin did not disappoint me after so many years. I will definitely come back...maybe next time just to enjoy the hotel. Collapse

I stayed at the Westin KL for 3 days while in KL on a business trip in mid-February. I didn't have a choice of hotel as the conference I was at was being hosted at the hotel, but I didn't mind as I figured it couldn't be too bad. I was wrong. To start with, the chauffeur service and the service at the front desk was very good. However, it went downhill from there. The rooms, though large, are old and not at all well maintained. My room had peeling wallpaper, and the shower stall had a lot of mould. The service at the cafe (The Living Room) was amateur at best, and definitely not worthy of a 5 star hotel. It took us an hour to receive a salad, club sandwich, and two dishes, after multiple requests. The waiter/waitresses had to come back a few times to reconfirm orders, which is a bit annoying. That was my experience the next few times I ate there as well (there's limited food options in the hotel). We had a business dinner at Five Senses, which was even worse. The vintage we ordered was not in stock, so the restaurant tried to palm off another vintage - without even telling us! If we hadn't checked the label, we would have paid for something we didn't order. It then took around 30 minutes to finally order a bottle of wine, as the wine list did not match what was in the cellar. None of this was communicated to us, we had to keep going out to find out what was taking so long. Furthermore, the dining room was filled with mosquitoes - possible from the open fish tanks outside. Not the most pleasant dining experience. We finally received a handwritten list of the wines available, and the manager kindly provided us with 2 bottles of champagne on the house. But by this time, it was too little too late. The food was average, but definitely not something I'd return for. All in all, not the experience I was expecting, and definitely not worthy of a 5 star. We have been visiting The Westin KL yearly for the past decade with our family. Each year we are blown away by the exquisite food and excellent service. Being the foodies that we are, we always take note of what was done well each year and what could do with some improvement. This year however, we have nothing but good words to say about both the buffet breakfast and club lounge cocktails. An improvement from last year, the Westin Buffet Breakfast has added a myriad of new dishes. There are cold and hot dishes (Asian and Western), salads and pastries. Basically, anything you would want for breakfast is there, and more! The primary reason we travel to Asia yearly is to taste the various local meals and local produce. And this year, we weren’t disappointed. No pre-packaged foods here. Only freshly prepared, sophisticated meals that impressed us daily. At the buffet breakfast, there is an array of food stations: Indian Station, Soup Station, Egg Station, Japanese Station, Salad and Cold Food on platers, and a cheese selection on display. Superfoods were arranged in little plates to be added to our dish as we pleased. The renowned Deli/Bakery is still there, housing a plethora of different croissants and pastries. On our second last day, I observed Head Chef, Suhalmi busily kneading and spreading dough onto a hot grill. He made the pastry into two pyramids. (See photo below.) Next moment, he is at our table. He poured condensed milk and honey onto the pastry dish that he had made especially for us! It was a real spectacle and tasted amazing! The Executive Club Lounge offers cocktails and finger food daily from 5:30-8pm. This year, the food has risen to another level. We would especially like to thank the Club Room Manager, Said, for his amazing service - what would we do without him! We have been meeting Said for the last 10 years. He is a treasure to this Executive Club Room. We would also like to thank Zaly as well. Another special mention goes to Chef Taib, who was at both the Executive Club Lounge Cocktails every night and the Buffet Breakfast every morning, ensuring the dishes were at the highest standard. I hope upper management is taking note. As always, we have thoroughly enjoyed staying in the 2-bedroom suite here at The Westin. It is huge, containing an office, lounge, dining room, and glassed alfresco overlooking Bukit Bintang - the most popular and upmarket street in Malaysia. Once again, we have enjoyed the convenience of having the infamous Pavilion only 10 steps from The Westin (simply across the road!). As always, we highly recommend The Westin KL. We will definitely be back next year. Melbourne Victoria Collapse

Friday Night, 17 Feb 17. We have just returned to our rooms after having gone to the Asian Buffet Dinner at The Westin KL. It was a piece of artwork on display. No words can describe this super experience! There were dishes upon dishes of amazingly flavoursome food created by highly skilled Chefs. Trays of the best South East Asian local dishes were available. Our family set out to attempt the daunting task of tasting each and every one of the dishes. To our surprise, each one tasted better than the other. One of my personal favourites was a dish containing squid and morning glory, topped with special sweet spices and nuts. This dish was made in my presence by a junior chef. Such an exquisite, unique taste. We were blown away! I have been traveling for the last 11 years yearly with my family to Asia. We are a family of 'foodies', who take our food very seriously. We were absolutely blown away by this experience, with the standard of food on offer being higher than anything else we have experienced. It was Chef, Mohd Taib who encouraged us to attend this Friday Asian Buffet Dinner. We thank him for encouraging us to attend. Another special thank you to Head Chef, Suhalmi and Dining Manager, Fuad for their contribution in making our time here so exceptional. Whether you are from North or South America , Western or Eastern Europe, the Middle East or Continental Asia, South East Asia or Australia, I encourage you to all expereince this once in a lifetime culinary marvel. We have always been very honest travellers, who don't shy away from giving constructive feedback. We have kept coming back to stay at The Westin KL, and this year, going to the Buffet Dinner was a beautiful, added surprise. The Westin KL Asian Buffer Dinner is a truly magnificent asset to this Hotel, the Staff and Malaysia. Well done!! I high recommend it. Melbourne Australia Collapse
