Had the most fantastic time at the Waterside in in Peterhead, after reading all the bad reviews on TripAdvisor was a bit apprehensive about going but my friend and I had a brilliant time there. All the hotel staff couldn't be any nicer nothing was too much trouble and the whole team worked excellent together even Richard the manager mucked in to help which was great. I had a list of all staff names to give them a word but has since lost it, from the chef and all breakfasts, dinner and cleaners in the Waterside Inn were second to none, they were all great very helpful and chatted to everyone which made you feel at ease. Our room was brilliant - straight across from the swimming pool whic looked great and we didn't take our bathing things which was disappointing, I would have loved to use the pool area. With the hotel being full I didn't think it was too noisy everyone seemed to be having a ball of a time and was very friendly. The food was brilliant from breakfast to the dinner had no complaints (delicious) at every sitting and we were there for 3 nights, I also think the ballroom was decorated to a high standard including the round tables, we sat at table 4 every night with the same guests which was great - they were all very friendly. The entertainment was great especially on Hogmanay, the dance floor was never emptied, well done all and there was a late breakfast until midday on the 1st which was great and there was a great little touch put on for guests in the foyer for people to help themselves to tea, coffee with cakes and shortbread, large urn of soup, baked potatoes with salads & meats & sandwiches for the guests from £1-£3 for those who were just relaxing in the lounge and sitting area, also had lots of games to choose from to play which you got from reception, we played some great games of cards with a lovely couple from Dundee. We had such a lovely relaxing time during the day and a fantastic fun time in the evenings. Well there is not much to say now but a very big thank you to the manager Richard for making my New Year break one to remember & all his wonderful staff and Tanya in reception for all the help she gave us, all waitresses & waiters & kitchen staff, cleaners & so on, hope I've not missed anyone out as all was great. I would have no hesitation on recommending this hotel to anyone as I will be going back again for another great experience so a BIG thank you again to all at Waterside inn Peterhead! Collapse

Hotel room was of a good size and comfortable, however, needs redecoration. Very faded curtains, chairs have seen a better days, etc. Whole hotel needs a revamp. Food in the restaurant was very good from breakfast in the morning to the dinner at night. No complaints about the quality or quantity of food received. Staff on reception were friendly and helpful as were staff at leisure facility. The young staff in the dining room were courteous but could perhaps do with a little training, however the (sorry) older gentleman on duty was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the leisure facilities. Did not use the gym but did use the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa. At the times we went (Friday around 5 pm, Saturday and Sunday am) the facilities were not overcrowded. Pool temperature was good as were the facilities of steam room, sauna, spa. The pool area, changing area, etc., could do with an upgrade. As the hotel is located outside the town of Peterhead, private transport is really a necessity, however, taxis are available. Overall, we enjoyed our break at the Waterside. The weekend price deal we paid was definitely value for money. Would return. Collapse
