The Washington Hilton is my favorite hotel in DC. I love the location, the wonderful variety of amenities, the beautiful rooms. I actually moved here from another hotel because I was too sad not to be staying here. I reviewed the Washington Hilton a few years ago, but I have something new to say. This stay, I decided to pay extra to be on the "Executive Level." From the description on their website, I expected slightly upgraded rooms. I arrived at the hotel at noon and was told that my room wasn't ready yet. I wasn't too surprised as check-in time is 4:00 p.m. I was given a key to access the executive level lounge on the tenth floor in the meantime, and was told that they would text me when my room was ready. The lounge is nice, though the furniture is a bit worn. I waited. and waited. AND WAITED. I had to go to a work function at 3 p.m. Still no room. I kept checking my phone. 5 p.m. -- nothing. 6 p.m. -- nothing. Finally at 7 p.m., my room was ready. I got back to the hotel at 8 p.m. and went to check in. There was no apology for my delay. The clerk was not friendly and seemed annoyed by my presence. I asked if this was normal for the executive level. She said, "Yes, because it's only one floor and it takes longer to clean the rooms." "Hmmmm," I thought, "What could take extra time?" Well, it turns out that nothing takes extra time. The only differences I saw between the regular rooms and the executive rooms, other than the ridiculous check-in wait, was an upgraded desk chair and a walk-in shower instead of a bathtub. There was no robe in my room, and everything else was identical to the regular guest rooms. To add insult to injury, my room was one of those add-on bedrooms for a large suite, so it was very small. There was a big melted place in the middle of the carpet from an iron. I immediately called the front desk and asked for a larger room not on the exec floor. Fortunately, I was accommodated with a nice, large room on one of the regular floors. I guess that the point of my story here is that the Executive Level is not worth it. The rooms are the same, and you get no preferential treatment. Exec rooms do come with free continental breakfast, which was good and appreciated. However, in no way does that make up for being made to wait until 7 p.m. to check in. Don't spend the extra money. I did notice that the rooms are starting to look a bit frayed around the edges. My carpet hadn't been vacuumed and the wallpaper is starting to split at the seams. However, I still love the rooms!!! Collapse

The Washington Hilton DC is a nice hotel in a great position. Just a short walk to many restaurants and bistros. The DuPont circle metro station just is just 4 blocks away and is the easiest and cheapest way to get around town. We had a fantastic meal in McClellan's sports bar, steak cooked perfect and a desert to die for topped off with excellent service from Shimeket our waiter. A great base for a short break to do all the tourist things. Collapse
Decent facility for convention stay, wished it was closer to Capitol Hill

Beware of rates that say they include parking--they'll still bill you for parking

I stayed at the Washington Hilton because it was located conveniently to where my best friend was celebrating her 30th birthday in DuPont Circle. I also found it to have reasonable weekend rates and--very rare for that area--self parking. The staff were all extremely nice and really went out of their way to be helpful. My only complaint about the room is that the mattress seemed to be worn out and the pillows were so small you needed a ton of them to get comfortable. My biggest complaint was that, upon check out, I was billed for parking in addition to my room rate--which supposedly included parking. When I mentioned this the front desk staff it seemed as if she had removed the charge and refunded me the $43. This didn't actually happen. So in effect, I was charged for parking twice and they don't seem to understand how their own rates work--I booked directly through Hilton's website. Collapse

I stayed one short night in the Washington Hilton Hotel to leave early the next day to meet legislators for Arts Advocacy Day. The Washington Hilton is in a really pretty neighborhood and is about a 15 minute cab drive from Capitol Hill. I checked in at around 12 midnight and there was still valet parking service that came quickly and took care of my car. Check in was friendly, quick and easy. The hotel and parking were both a bit pricey but it's D.C. so it's what I expected. The lobby is very nicely kept as are all the common areas of the hotel. I like to stay in Hiltons, especially when I'm on business. The rooms are nearly always quiet with a really comfortable bed. The Washington Hilton did not disappoint. The bathroom was clean and had all the needed amenities. There was coffee in the morning and since I am a Hilton member they put me on the 10th floor where there was a nice little breakfast room a short walk down the hall from my room. Again, staying at the Hilton brands often really makes business travel easy, pleasant and comfortable. My morning check out was quick, friendly and efficient. The Hilton kept my car for the day without additional charge and we checked our luggage for the day as well. The Washington Hilton served us well and I recommend it for anyone wanting to do business on the hill. Collapse
