This is one of my favorite hotels in Washington D.C. -- the service, accommodations, cleanliness, and friendliness of staff are all top notch. It is also a nearby walk to many restaurants in DuPont Circle.

I stayed here three nights. I booked a room with a king size bed and it turned out to be very small and dingy, hardly had space for my suitcase. The bathroom was also small. The next morning I told them I wasn’t happy with the room and I was offered an upgrade to a corner room which was much more spacious and airy. It was a very nice room and I was thankful for that. The highlight of the hotel is the spread at breakfast. As HHonors Gold I was given a coupon for continental breakfast but by paying an extra six dollars I could upgrade to a full American breakfast with my choice of eggs and access to everything at the buffet. The fruit was superb and a very good selection, including strawberries, blueberries and melon, which in winter time are a luxury. The hotel is well located a few minutes walk from DuPont circle. I visited DC on a business trip. This particular Hilton is located right off of Connecticut Avenue and is about 5 blocks away from Dupont Circle. I arrived on a Sunday evening and walked right up to the Honors check-in with no wait (Honors members receive two bottled waters). The lobby is large and spacious with a wi-fi lounge (which is absolutely necessary-more on that later). I am aware that many hotels request a "hold" for incidentals and this one asked for $75 per day (for those on a budget this could be a decision-point). I checked out 3 days ago and have yet to see the deposit refunded. My room had one queen bed, the bathroom is directly off of the entryway. In older cities it can be a crap-shoot on the room size, this one was okay not spacious but not cramped. Every inch of space was utilized. There was a desk and flat screen tv with Direct TV (no premium channels were available). The pillows were abysmal and led to some uncomfortable nights attempting to sleep. the mattress was okay. The room itself was updated with modern decor, sliding frosted glass door for the bathroom. The bathroom passed my cleanliness test, there was no disgusting grout or mold anywhere. The water pressure was nonexistent in the sink (it was literally an anemic trickle at all times of the day) as was the counter-space. I have a small toiletry bag that barely fit on the countertop. A lit magnifying mirror is in the bathroom which is a plus but it takes up half of the minuscule space. The toilet is built directly into a cut out of the corner space. I found this design to be both irritating and nonfunctional. I have no idea what the chaos would be like if there was more than one person staying in the room. The temperature control was accurate for the most part. The wi-fi was a nonfactor. I had a code to sign on, I was just unable to get onto the network. I do not know if they just simply did not have enough bandwidth or what but I tried it at all hours of the day including 2 a.m. I had a 5 minute stroke of good luck at some random point but was immediately kicked off again. I was unable to do any work on any of my devices anytime that I was in my room; this was hugely inconvenient. I did not make use of the any of the hotel restaurants or bars but did make use of the conference space. My flight left later in the day so I had to check my bags with the bell hop (for a charge, this was a new business practice to me-I have never had to pay for that service other than the tip). The location of the hotel is great, I was able to walk to the Smithsonian/National Mall in under an hour. The walk is pretty much a straight line with no complicated directions. Overall the location is the biggest selling point for me. The service and room space were average, nothing outstanding but okay. Collapse

What a relaxing trip. We haven’t been so happy on a trip in years. We appreciate the staff and how friendly they all were. The staff were professional and very knowledgeable. We now consider them part of our family.
