Stayed here in a family room (with another family in next door room). 2 double beds & a sofa bed. Comfortable & roomy & good sized bathroom, but there was quite a lot of mould on shower tiles. We all enjoyed the pool, although the changing rooms are in need of a make over. The problem was with the restaurant/food. We had lunch with friends in the bar area & the food was average, but VERY expensive. Fish finger sandwich £9!! Really??. I don't like to feel I'm being taken advantage of, whatever the hotel. Then we all had dinner in the restaurant. The service was painfully slow. 20mins for drinks (after being reminded) & an hour for food & it wasn't even busy. I had crab linguine, which was an eye watering £16 (for pasta!!). However, there wasn't any visible crab & there was so much chillie, I couldn't taste anything else. We were so fed up waiting for the food we didn't bother to stay another hour for pudding. Which was a shame the kids missed out. We also didn't bother with breakfast as for 2 adults & 2 thirteen year old CHILDREN, it would have been an extra £66!! I think the hotel has visions of grandeur, but I've stayed in much better. I'm afraid I can't recommend it. It's such a shame as it's very convenient for meeting up with our friends, but I think we'll choose somewhere else next time. Collapse

As a Marriott lifetime platinum member I have spent most of the last 5 years of my life in Marriott hotels and although this hotel isn’t the best in the chain (and doesn’t claim to be) the service is fantastic. I booked in points for a valentines weekend away and called ahead to ask if we could be upgraded. The person on the phone was really helpful and said they would do what they could to assign us the best room and to decorate the room. When we check in we found we had a great suit with a whirlpool bath and the room had been decorated with flower petals! We used the swimming pool, steam room and jacuzzi and enjoyed a large selection of food for breakfast! The only downside (but didn’t effect the rating I have given) was that we had to pay for a latte to go with our breakfast. I am not sure why some Marriotts do this but in my opinion it’s rather silly. Collapse

Stayed here last night for valentines with my partner. The room was nice and clean and bed was very comfy. However I feel it’s wrong that they charge £4 for the car park whilst your having an overnight stay. Also you have to pay £50 deposit for any damages to the room which you get credited back when you check out. We checked out over 8 hrs ago and it isn’t back in my account. I feel this is wrong as you take it quick enough but don’t put back straight away. We rang for room service three times in the early hours to no one answering we had to call reception in the end to place an order. The member of staff on the phone was very rude and unprofessional. We asked for salt and vinegar crisps with our ham salad sandwich but they brought plain tortillas and the ham salad sandwich consisted of a slice of ham and a slice of lettuce. This is a joke for the price of £9. We ordered a lemonade with it which they wanted to charge £4 for but I sent that back. When we called to complain about the crisps and sandwich the member of staff was again very rude. We filled in the menu for breakfast to be delivered to the room between 9-9.15 but a member of staff called the phone at 8.25 to ask us what we wanted for breakfast going through the whole menu that we already ordered. When the breakfast arrived there was no spoons for the cereal, the hot chocolate was cold , the bacon wasn’t cooked, the mushrooms were very greasy , the hash browns and beans were cold and the toast was freezing. So overall the breakfast was appalling. We waited in a queue for almost half an hour to check out, the staff were very slow and spent most of their time talking to each other rather than dealing with customers. I will not be returning anytime soon!!! Collapse

Average hotel at best, Staff are nice and friendly but that is where it stops. Everything is in desperate need of refurbishment, the entire place needs decorating from top to bottom. I stayed here for 2 nights in January, food is average, changing rooms in gym were appalling with doors missing and ones that did not lock, bins not emptied in the room. Not one I would choose to stay in again. Staff however work hard with what they have. Collapse
