Our family of three stayed at this hotel for two nights. It is our 10 years wedding anniversary. We checked in the hotel late (close to 8:30PM) and I asked front desk if it is still possible to get a table at Gordon Ramsey Restaurant (2*). The front desk checked with restaurant and got a surprise "yes" answer. This is on a Friday night. Myself, my wife and son enjoyed the 7 courses dinner there. The restaurant staffs provided superb services and answer many questions from my curious wife. We never been to a restaurant of this level so it was an unexpected and eye/month opening experience since we did not plan for this dinner yet we are at Paris in a beautiful hotel and wonderful restaurant celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I want to thank the hotel for great service and upgrade to a nice room (very large bathroom). This hotel is right outside one of the entrances to the Versailles so very convenient to visit there. I really enjoyed my stay. The setting is excellent, and a great launch point to explore Chateau Versailles and the town as well. The hotel is intimate and feels like a retreat to a palace where you're a guest, especially while eating breakfast looking out over the pasture with sheep in the morning. Relaxing. The hotel is divided into two buildings, the lobby and restaurants are in the old biulding (the Trianon Palace) and across a garden is the new building which has many hotel rooms (chambers) as well as conference facilities on the lower levels. I was in the new building which was OK, although I think I would have preferred the old building from a historical and architectural perspective, especially since I was not attending a conference. That said, I did enjoy the new building as well. Although there were a couple problems which I was surprised and disappointed by. First, the heat was way to hot and the thermostat in my chamber did not function at all. The only way to cool down was to open the window, which was not an overnight solution since there was not a screen and it was raining, as well as hearing the people walking around the garden. Also, on my last day there maintenance people came into my room while I was at breakfast and left boot marks and mud all over my bathroom as well as a plumbing access door next to my toilet open with wires sticking out. The water did not work in my room for the remainder of my stay, which was annoying because I had to get ready for business meetings that day. I was surprised that would happen at a hotel of this quality, and with the high rate I paid. Collapse
Forget Paris....stay in Versailles!

This hotel is quintessential Versailles. You are in the shadows of the palace and center city Versailles. Within walking distance of everything you want to see and do. A must do is to walk around the canals in the park adjacent to the hotel.

This hotel is in Versailles. If you are flying into either airport, call an Uber. We were ripped off by our taxi driver who charged us 130€ on what Uber would have charged 30€. Unfortunately our wifi was acting up so, we had decided to cab it given the late hour and my very pregnant and irritable condition. Things did not start off well. This was a very disappointing stay, for what at the onset we had hoped would be a terrific stay. To be fair, the hotel is beautiful and well maintained. It is in fact a Waldorf. However, the age of building is reflected in the draftiness and the scent of mildew in the hallways (attempted to be covered by a strong perfume) We had pre-paid our stay in full. Imagine our surprise when we charged an additional 100 euros per person per night for our stay for incidentals! An almost $800 charge. And boy did they work hard to get us to spend every drop of it. Breakfast buffet was 28€ if we pre-reserved, 38€ if we didn't. It was a continental breakfast with eggs, bacon and sausage choices. We had forgotten our converters, the hotel lent us two (15€ each returnable upon checkout when return them). After the concierge connected us to a local restaurant via phone, we were charged 17€ telephone charge (that we disputed). Middle of the night Caesar salad delivered to our room with extra dressing was whopping 33€. It came to a point where we thought twice about asking for anything for concern of more charges. Neither myself nor my husband are frugal. This our last hoorah before the baby is born, we wanted to spoil ourselves. However, we could not shake the feeling of being "nickel and dined" at every turn. Just so you have an idea, we were given two small bottles of Evian in our room at the beginning of our stay. We stayed 3 nights-- it was never replenished-- however, Evian water was available for purchase through the mini bar for 7€. We had a garden suite on the 3rd floor. It was spacious, clean, well maintained. The daily room service was mediocre. Towels and toiletries were changed but-- floor was not mopped after a shampoo spillage. The front desk, concierge and bell hops were nice enough-- no home runs there. The town of Versailles is quiet in comparison to the city bustle of Paris ( that is about 30 mins away- beware of rush hour)-- a 25€ ride via Uber. The restaurant variation is impressive-- it was easy to find Chinese, Thai, Italian, American and of course French food. Would I go back, no. The overreaching feeling of being taken advantage of put a damper on what we wanted to be a carefree and relaxing start your vacation. Collapse
