I recently needed a last minute hotel in Paris after arriving 1 day early due to a giant snowstorm in the Northeast. I had 1 day to spend doing whatever I wanted and chose to take a trip down to Versailles. This is a gorgeous hotel in close proximity to the Versailles palace. I was very pleased I found this property and that it was reasonable, about 100 Euro less than an equivolent hotel in downtown Paris. Versailles says it's about 50 minutes by train from Paris, but maybe because of it being mid-day train times, it took me closer to an hour and 15. I also had to deal with a station being closed and being re-routed. The hotel is about a 8 Euro taxi ride from the station. You could walk it, but I wasn't about to with bags. It's about a 20 min walk. Anyway, the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and service is 5 star. It is walkable to the downtown area (about 10 min) of Versailles and I spent the afternoon I arrived wandering around and doing a bit of shopping. It's kind of a typical French small town. I ate at the "other" Gordon Ramsey casual restaurant on site which was lovely - since this was a bonus day of travel I wasn't budgeted for the big Gordon Ramsey Restaurant, but I did have a drink in their lovely bar. The next day I got up and headed over to Versailles Palace first thing. The conceirge desk ( which was lovely for my entire stay) was able to arrange for ticket for me so I didn't have to wait on the long line to get in - just the security line (which is also long). The palace property gate is immediately outside the hotel so you can walk in, walk the grounds and then head to the palace. If I had brought my running sneakers it would have also been a wonderful place for a run - and many runners were using it that morning. It is smart to get to Versailles early, as the crowds get massive and giant tour groups are a bit annoying. I was able to tour the palace pretty quickly in about an hour and half including the security line. Anyway, the hotel was lovely, lovely bath products from Feragamo and a quiet comfortable night's sleep after a long journey. Definitely a great base for a Versailles visit. Collapse
A touch of class and not only...

Is the second time in one year that we visited Vesaille and decided to stay again in Trianon Waldorf Astoria. The first time we had a room in the king pavilion and this time I insisted of staying in the main hotel(even if we had to pay extra) as the last time we felt little isolated. The hotel is located 5 minutes walking to the palace of Versaille with the gardens catching your breath and the palace luxurious and elegant fit for a king. The staff in the hotel was charming and helpful and the food was very tasty and beautifully presented. The breakfast had a wide range of fresh produce, crispy pastries and if you wanted differently cooked eggs there was a chef cooking it as you ordered and also pancakes cooked on the spot were offered. We also visited Paris and we didn't find it to difficult and we thought that the location of the hotel was spot on. Quite spot, beautiful surroundings and lovely room with garden view gave us the comfort we were looking for. Paris is such a wonderful city with so much to offer and we thought that we have some unfinished business because is so much more to see. We will return! Collapse

It had been 25+ years since we last were at the Trianon palace - our memories were of an elegant and peaceful hotel. Today, this is a very different place. Overall we really enjoyed our stay but were disappointed by several aspects. On the plus side, the location is perfect for exploring Versailles, the castle and its park; and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. However, we were disappointed by some of the facilities. The shared facilities have not kept up with the significant increase is the number of rooms. 1) The swimming pool was over crowded and there was not enough space for all the clients who attempted to use it. 2)The bar is too small and can only cater for few. I counted 4 tables only in the actual bar. The rest spilling into the corridor. There was a fashion show on the Saturday evening which may explain the over crowding as not all the areas not being available to “regular” customers but this is still not acceptable given the price of the rooms. 3) Finally the weather was not great and it rained. The hotel “run out” of umbrellas for guest to borrow. We certainly did not expect to face these issues in the hotel we remembered. So overall if you are looking for chic, exclusive and peaceful, this is not the place for you. However, if you are on a tourist trip to discover Versailles, this is a great option. Collapse

Our stay here is perhaps one of the most beautiful places I have been to. The location is superb, Right next to the Palace gardens, Spent far too much time there, In a good way of course. La veranda was beautiful, The waitress was exceptionally helpful and the beef was to die for, Gordon's food is hard to beat! We took a Day trip to Paris and although lovely, Is unfortunately fast becoming a tourist trap, The markets were superb (Just hold your nose around the cheese stalls), And of course the Eiffel tower is a must see. All in all a wonderful trip, Would recommend to absolutely anyone! Collapse
