Treated myself to 1 night at the Waldorf, what an experience. Also had dinner at La Veranda restaurant. Service, staff, amenities etc are outstanding. Proximity to the palace is unbeatable. Not your budget stay but once in a while who cares!

This is a beautiful hotel well located in Versailles and not too far from Paris. The food and eating areas are both comfortable and scenic. Swimming pool is lovely for both summer and winter use. The staff is both helpful and friendly, particularly Alan, concierge who has a great sense of humour and good advice. Sadly the overly soft, high quality, bed detracted from the experience. No sleep poor holiday. Collapse

Checked in yesterday and love the area. I had booked a King Mansard room on the 5th floor in the main building based on many reviews to avoid the annex building, and I was glad we're in the main building. However, I checked in and picked room 503 via the Hilton mobile app which showed a stairwell next to the room - it's actually an elevator that is very noisy at night! Should have picked room 505 or another room a little further away! The view is beautiful and other room features are nice. The employees were very helpful and friendly at check in and I look forward to talking with the concierge to get some ideas for activities. As has been mentioned by MANY others, there's no air conditioning. The thermostat turns on a fan but it does not cool the air. That's fine for us at this time of year because the outside temperature is a little cool and you can open the window to cool it down a little at night. But I wouldn't want to be here in July or August when it's quite warm and you have no way to cool your room down. Many other reviews have mentioned this issue and I'm sure the hotel would address it if they could, but there must be no way for them to solve the problem. We haven't yet tried the restaurants because we like to sample the village eateries, but we plan to sample the hotel's eating establishments and will review those after we've done so. It's definitely the nicest place in Versailles, but you're still going to need to lower your expectations a little for this hotel. Collapse

Even with the splendid and overwhelming array of hotels in France, this place was wonderful because of the caring staff and it's beautiful grounds. It is a spacious hotel with stylish yet traditional French furnishings that radiate charm and elegance. The property is adjacent to an entrance (Porte de la Reine or Queen's Gate) toward the Château du Versailles and it's about a 10 to 15 minute walk to get to the main palace courtyard. Be forewarned that the walk is uphill and there are quite a few stairs so wear comfortable shoes! The ambiance is light, airy, quiet and exudes sophistication in every corner. Another bonus is that the hotel is nearly smoke free so it's great for nonsmokers! The grounds are meticulously manicured with pretty flowers and carefully trimmed hedges, perfect for weddings or simply to gaze out from your room. Rooms: spacious, modern, clean, airy, and stocked with a good array of bathroom amenities by Salvatore Ferragamo. We know the Pavillon gets a bad rap from the reviews but we honestly didn't have many issues with it. In fact, we recommend it because we feel the views are better as you get to see the garden and the lovely facade of the main building. We did notice the rooms do run hot so it must be great for winter, perhaps not for summer. Since we came in the spring, the temperature was fairly mild but if you tend to run warm, staying in the main building may be a better option. Facilities: the spa, pool, and fitness centre are all amply equipped as well as scrupulously clean. We were impressed with the array of services they offered. They also have a lifeguard for children. Restaurant: Le Veranda is the main staple that we had on days when we were too tired to walk into town for food. It's dinners and breakfasts have a wide range of selections that is suitable for almost all palates. If you want something more casual or cheaper, go walk into the nearby village! It's a cute spot with tons of hip bistros and tiny local restaurants. Security: this is an extremely safe hotel. It is in a gated perimeter and as of May 2017, there have been armed patrols all around the palace grounds. Security staff were very diligent in checking bags and keeping an watchful eye. Thank you for keeping us all safe! Service: We were extremely impressed with the care and attention we received from the staff. We wish to acknowledge a few individuals who truly went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Concierge Alain and Christine are by far the most superb concierge pair we have ever come across. Their breadth of knowledge and experience about the palace as well as the local area was impressive. They were incredibly accommodating and always helpful whenever we had questions. To demonstrate how much effort they put in, Alain spent an hour with us to ensure we had the correct train tickets to go to our next destination and even showed us areas in Versailles where we could enter the palace to avoid long queues. Christine made reservations for us at local restaurants and even went outside in the rain when she saw us dragging our luggage from the Pavilion to help us carry them inside. Reservations/Front Desk We were deeply appreciative of the kind, caring treatment we received from Diane, Caroline, and Timothie. These three helped us multiple times whenever we had last minute changes or had questions. The lovely ladies Diane and Caroline ensured our check in/check out process went smoothly without any issue. We are especially grateful to both of them, particularly Caroline who enormously helped us with our check out when we we had an emergency and we couldn't have done without her. Diane handled our room requests and was fantastic overall. Thank you Diane and Caroline for your care!!! Timothie was so sweet and personally escorted us to the Pavillon when we got lost. He always answered our questions and was really efficient in getting all of our things in order. Thank you Timothie! Restaurant We had the pleasure of having Romane, a charming girl who served us during our first dinner at the Waldorf. She was so professional and courteous, we were really glad to have met her. She made our first dinner really special. Good luck on your studies Romane! Honorine is a very capable and competent hostess who made sure the brunches ran efficiently. We were very appreciative of her when we came late to the brunch and she not only assured that we could stay, she even brought us silverware and jams so that we didn't go out without. Thank you Honorine for your very thoughtful and kind gestures! Front Desk Staff Cynatra and Matthieu are the two nicest gentlemen you will ever meet. They were so friendly, sweet, charming, and always ready to assist us. We had so much baggage and how they managed to transfer everything into our room so neatly is a mystery. Matthieu even spoke to our taxi driver to make sure that the driver took us to the correct train station. Thank you to you both! We missed everyone so much and we are looking forward to returning! Thank you Waldorf Astoria for the wonderful memories! Collapse

Managing the expectations is an art. Sorry to say, Trianon Palace has not yet achieved that level. The scenery is dramatic, exquisite etc. but the bedrooms in the conference building are dated and in need of a fresh coat of paint, carpets etc. Beds must have been recently replaced as they are perfect. Breakfast was good to very good and dinner was disappointing however we were with a group of nearly 100 people and at that size you have to lower the expectations significantly. Some of the staff offering excellent service and others just spoil the others efforts completely. Consistency is a great thing. Collapse
