I recently stayed at the Waldorf Astoria RAK for the first time for a family holiday, and can safely say its one of the best hotels I have ever experienced. I have been to numerous high end luxury hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi over an 18 year period, and this hotel compares to and surpasses the very best that the UAE offers. I was greeted upon arrival by Jure (Guest Relations Manager), with such a warm and friendly welcome that made us all feel really warm and special. Literally within a couple of minutes, Jure took us to our rooms to see if we were happy with what we were given - and boy were we happy! The check-in process took place in my room, and It was the best check-in I have experienced as it was all over within the space of 10 minutes. Jure was fantastic, and he made our vacation start with impeccable customer service and hospitality that we were truly humbled by. We stayed in a Junior Suite 10th floor, which was enormous in size, had complete comfort, and an amazing view. Possibly the best room I have had in the UAE, and that is saying something. We had 2 rooms, and both had superb sea views, and provided all the amenities you would expect from a 5 star hotel in this part of the world. The Waldorf Astoria is a beautiful five star hotel, providing a real cosy and warm feel to your vacation in RAK. Like other reviewers, I agree it has a palace feel to it, and the decor and design leave you in awe. The hotel has an amazing pool, which provides ample space to swim and relax, regardless of hotel occupancy. Breakfast is extensive, with a live omelette station, and numerous types of hot foods, mezze's, salads, cakes, pastries and fresh fruits to ensure the needs of the most fussiest guests are met. The pool and beach remain the main focus during the hot August days, with a lovely temperature controlled pool to help you relax in the searing heat. Staff here are brilliant, always greeting you with a smile, and always wanting to ensure they provide a good service. In the UAE it must be particularly hard for the pool and leisure staff to remain so upbeat and enthusiastic whilst working in the 45 degree heat. Yet they do, and I was extremely pleased to meet some of the pool staff who were exceptionally good to me and my family, as they were always on hand to recognise your need for sun beds and ensure they would find you the number of beds you need, and try to give you the best location possible in proximity to the pool. It's staff like this, as well as the leisure facilities like the gym and spa that make you want to return to this brilliant hotel. I have stayed at the jumeirah beach hotel, Al Qasr, the one and only royal mirage, the zabeel Saray on the palm and a few others, and have realised you don't have to pay overly high prices in Dubai to get the same resort, leisure facilities and service that you can get at the Waldorf Astoria RAK. Yes Ras Al Khaimah is quieter than Dubai, but there is enough to do in the local area, and the local city, where you will find malls and restaurants to keep anyone occupied during a holiday to the UAE. I genuinely look forward to returning to this exceptional hotel again. Collapse

Lovely hotel and grounds, and great staff offering polite and friendly service. We have stayed a number of times at this hotel, a little slice of luxury. The rooms are very well appointed, spacious and comfortable, and always very clean. Great offers are available during the summer, offering very good value for money. The buffet restaurant offers a great breakfast, with a huge variety of food, always replenished, and includes some healthy options too - almond milk, fresh juices, gluten free bread. And at weekends, breakfast is served until 12, useful if you have sleepy teenagers! The family pool is very relaxing, the cabbanas offer some shaded privacy, and the unlimited free bottles of water very welcome in the heat, along with cold towels, ice lollies etc that are brought to yours sun bed. We have been here before and our stay this time lived up to our previous experiences. A fantastic hotel, staff and customer service. We had a problem with checking in due to an issue with booking.com and a computer system. The reception staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcome with High Tea whilst the issues was resolved. Lexington Grill - again a fantastic restaurant. wonderful ambiance, service and food. We also visited the Marjan Arabic restaurant on the 16th floor- although good, it still has a long way to reach the standards of the Lexington - both in service and food. Great stay - will be coming back soon. Collapse
