We enjoyed our stay! Used points for one of two nights. Exquisitely great! Go with very high floor and at least a King Room. Service wonderful. If you want a quiet evening with wonderful staff and delicious food. Avoid the gregarious Chicago seen and just eat in the hotel restaurant. We ate there on Friday evening and it was so quiet and romantic with excellent food. New and nice courtyard Collapse
Third Attempt at a Review - Don't Trust Waldorf in Chicago

The reservations people are rude and hung up on me twice when I attempted to make a reservation. Both times, I talked to a guy and they were not hospitable or cordial. Because of their incompetence, my room was sold and they referred me to the Drake. I've written a long review of why I'm unhappy with this place. It was taken down unfairly by Waldorf, by categorizing it as "a different business." I have attached photos to prove it is the very same Waldorf we are all talking about, in Chicago. Basically, there are more elegant and honest hotels in the area. This place does not live up to the brand name. Collapse

My husband and I got married at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago in September 2014. We have since attended numerous weddings of friends and family members and we can say that nothing comes close to our wedding at the Waldorf. The hotel is a gorgeous backdrop for amazing wedding photos. We also shot a documentary style wedding video and I can't help but love our video every time I watch it (and yes, I still watch it from time to time because it's only 18 min. long, which is the secret to not having a wedding video you never watch.) From the beginning of our wedding planning to just last week when I emailed our wedding coordinator, Ashley, the service was top class. It's no surprise to anyone who is married that the bridal party is treated like royalty. Well, at the Waldorf every single guest is treated like royalty. Every detail is meticulously carried out. And let me tell you about the food! First, you will blown away at the fact that you fill out a questionnaire that the chef uses to prepare a tasting menu just for you. Next, you will be wined and dined like you're at a 5 star restaurant at your tasting. You don't have to ask your guests to pick their meal on the RSVPs because orders will be taken when they sit down and the food freshly prepared. And finally, you and your guests will enjoy the best dinner anyone has ever had at a wedding (and maybe ever.) The portions were generous, the service elegant, the food delicious. I knew 'we did good' when my husband's brother-in-law, the epitome of a food snub who only eats oysters at exactly one restaurant in the city, came up to us to tell us that his dinner was the best wedding food he has ever had. Simple details matter. People were being served cocktails after they set down to dinner but forgot to grab a last drink before the bar closed for an hour. There was a bottle of champagne and a gift from the Waldorf waiting for my husband and I in our suite. My cousin was cold so the waitress offered to bring her hot tea. Another 'detail' that was important to me was privacy. We were the only wedding hosted that night with private use of the elevators that took our guest to our private area in the hotel. We had use of all of the rooms. My brother-in-law pointed out to me that he appreciated not having to share the restrooms with another wedding's guests. And what a suite we had! We stayed at the Ritz Carlton Chicago just a few weeks ago it didn't even come close. The spa! It's gorgeous and beautiful and absolutely worth the award it recently won. If you are thinking of getting married at a hotel downtown Chicago please check out the Waldorf. A friend got married at a downtown hotel a few weekends ago and what a disappointment. They are not all the same, not even close. My husband reached for a glass of champagne and was told "No! We are closing" during the cocktail hour. Mind you, there were poured glasses right in front of him. And sadly that's what we'll remember from that wedding. Collapse
