We had one whole week here at W and the rooms are PERFECT and Collins Avenue is the best place o stay in Miami. Staff are friendly and like to talk to guests and the pool is really very good. If you like to drink like we do the drink prices are too much even for Miami. We live Miami beach and we will come back here. From here visit Lincoln street (not to far) and you have a lot of shopping and atmosphere there and it is a lot of fun to sit in cafes and look at the different people. Collapse

Everything about the W is amazing! It's our second time staying there and both times have been great. This time we had a server at the pool Maria "Theresa" (she goes by Theresa) Sciortino. She was always available anytime we needed anything. She was also entertaining and funny. We Loved having her help us hydrate and stay nourished throughout our pool days! Thanks Theresa!! Mike and Jessalyn from Canada! Hope to see you again in February, like we talked about! Collapse
Let’s itself down. Strange charges, mixed service - AMEX Finest Hotels?

It’s hard to categorise this review and our stay other than ‘mehhhh’. Because it was great in some areas and really let itself down in others. The decor and general vibe is upscale and cool - very ‘W’. We had a reasonably large suite with a side on sea view. The room was an upgrade through Finest Hotels and it was a fantastic space although it felt like it was beginning to get a little tired. The lights were on a scene setting system (Luvion I think) but wasn’t setup correctly (or was broken) and nobody at reception or 2 engineers could make it work properly so for some of the lights we had to pull plugs out of the wall to take them off. That was poor and wasn’t sorted in our 3 days at the hotel. THe water in the bathroom was rarely hot enough to fill the bath before it had gone tepid. The water pressure being terrible and what looked like a fab full body shower was let down by water pressure that made this pointless. Whilst the room was great and clean, it was clear it needed some TLC, the lights not working, the lampshades had been damaged, there were stains and burn marks on the sofas and chairs. A few marks here and there ok but they added up to more than you would expect for rooms at these rates. The concierge and front desk were great at first and we were really impressed with our welcome and were made to feel like real VIPs. It was only when we needed some help that it became a bit less impressive. We were overcharged for parking and when I raised this at reception as we left the receptionist said I needed to go to the valet desk to discuss this. I then found out we were charged multiple times and 40% extra for having a large car (short wheel base Escalade) - it ended up at about $70 a night which even for SOBE was high and it was definitely unexpected. The lady at reception said she was not able to do anything or feed anything back and that I should feed this back to the valet team directly. I suggested that whilst I didn’t want to go around the hotel complaining individually to each area and had better things to do with my time than get into an argument as I was leaving at the end of a great holiday, that at least they ought to feed back how this left a bad taste in our mouth as my final impression of the hotel. It wasn’t as if the Valet was part of a separate company, it was integrated (and also billed) through the hotel. When I got home I penned a brief note to the GM (who emailed a general ‘please provide feedback to me direct’ email which I expect goes to all guests) - I sent this to the email they asked for feedback on. It’s now weeks later and I followed up but not the courtesy of a response. The final irritation after arriving home and having already settled what I still felt was fundamentally an incorrect bill in full on departure, it was irritating when I checked my Amex bill to see a further charge having been added to our credit card. I contacted the hotel to find out what this was and guess what - no response. It’s currently with AMEX disputed charges department as it was not authorised. A shame as at the beginning of our stay we thought this was a hotel we might like to return to but instead will consider wherelse on SOBE we might stay during our next visit in March. Collapse

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at the W HOTEL. For those visiting Miami Beach for leisure , gastronomy and partying, the W is a must. Well located (close to Miami Beach's top restaurants, and within walking distance to Lincoln Road and the main nightlife places ) The hotel has a very nice and modern lobby with a great bar and restaurant as well as good "house music" played all over the place. We stayed there 5 days. The staff is very well trained and the service was customer-driven and friendly. We were very well assisted by Kristi Wood (concierge); Marc Saint Hubert (reception / sales manager); Giovane (beach service); Nikola and Ioli (swimming pool services). Collapse
