We chose this hotel as it looked very family friendly and it was our first trip abroad with our 17 month old son. The positives We had an apartment and it was lovely. You have all the amenities you need. There was no bath so we had to shower our little boy down every night but he absolutely loved it. The travel cot was great and my son slept really well in it. It was brought up quickly to the room and made up. I would recommend bringing your own cot sheet as the one provided slips round a lot. It was very clean the beds were comfy, you get fresh towels 5 out of 7 days. I can't fault it. One lady on reception was so helpful when we were planning our trip to Palma to go to the aquarium. Which of you have small children is a must do. You get the 351 bus from opposite KFC to Palma which takes 1 hour. When you get out of the main bus station you get the number 25 bus to the aquarium which takes about 10 minutes. The pool was cold so we didn't use it much and the splash park is really suited to about age 3 and up. But the beach isn't to far away. The negatives When we arrived at the hotel around 12.30 we were told our room was not available yet. We were told we could place our luggage in a locked room and have lunch in the hotel. Which sounded great until we were informed that we would have to pay for lunch. Most hotels offer this as a complimentary gesture. It created a bad first impression as the woman on reception was quite rude. Also when we tried to enquire about upgrading to half board for a day the same woman on reception was really unhelpful. I would have given it 5/5 if it wasn't for the welcome on the first day. Collapse

I have just recently returned from my holiday to Alcudia, myself, my husband and two year old daughter had a wonderful time staying at the Viva Sunrise hotel. Usually as its only myself and my husband we decide to go for cheaper hotels and the experience is good but not great, this time we thought we would treat ourselves, especially as we were going for the first time as a family with the little one. I have to say it was well worth spending that little extra on the hotel and we could definitely tell the difference. The hotel is really well kept, great design and just beautiful to look at when you enter, I have to say it smelt lovely too. When we arrived luckily it was in time for check-in which was quick and smooth by the lovely reception staff. The room was very spacious with a fairly large bathroom, a decent living room space with a good sized balcony and a king size bed, this was clearly sufficient space for the 3 of us. I would like to say thank you to our cleaner Johana she was lovely, always had a smile on her face and did a great job We decided we would go for all inclusive as it was easier with a little child and its clear to say there were plenty of options for children and for vegetarians like me which was great (Although towards the end of the holiday I was a little fed up by eating mainly carbs or salad, but it wasn't too much of an issue). The hotel had different cuisines on every night which was great as it kept things interesting and you would never know what you were going to get. I was a little disappointed by the Indian evening as there was not much veggie food on offer for this and there could have been a few more varieties. The staff in general were great with the adults and especially with the kids, always helpful and very attentive. Usually all inclusive places have watered down drinks, however I have to say they were not bad here, really liked the cocktails and the wines. The childrens entertainment was also well planned and they had activities for children everyday, including t-shirt painting and games, its a shame my daughter was too young to get involved with some of the activities, however she really enjoyed her time with what ever she did get involved with. Every evening the entertainment team would sing and dance with the children which after being there for 9 days got very repetitive and maybe they should mix some of it up. Excluding that it was great fun. Overall our stay at the hotel was extremely pleasant, and the surrounding areas were great as well, with the beach being a 10 minute walk away. Its very much a family friendly hotel with plenty of kiddies, so if you are looking for a couples retreat, maybe avoid this one. Collapse

Having booked an 7 day self catering stay to BQ Alcudia Sun Village, my wife and I along with our 3 year old son was told upon arrival that this had been over booked and they would had to move us to one of their other hotels. In reception they showed us the alternative hotel which was the Viva Sunrise, part of their hotel group. For our inconvenience we were upgraded all inclusive and paid for a taxi to get to the Viva Sunrise which was something they didn't have to but was a nice touch. On arriving at the new hotel then we explained to the hotel reception what had happened and they had a record of this and stated our room wouldn't be ready for a at least an hour, which under the circumstances was fine as we weren't initially staying there. We were given the keys for the luggage area and put in our cases and then were issued our all inclusive bands and once changed, off we went. I have to say with not booking many all inclusive hotels before, this was without doubt the best i have stayed in. Our room was really nice and modern, the bathroom was furnished in a modern stayle with a large shower area. Air conditioning was good and even the choice of tv channels was good for being abroad. The room was cleaned 5 out of 7 days and the staff were always helpful and polite to you. Although this hotel was mainly made up of German, dutch and Scandanavian tourists, it never felt that you were in the minority as everyone was catered for in both terms of food and entertainment. The childrens area was great for our 3 year old with the seperate pool area with the pirate ship and slides, the park area right next to it as well as childrens activities and a football area. They also done activites throughout the day with face painting, t-shirt painting and magic shows. People have mentioned mosquitios but we found we only got bitten once each and we were staying on the canal side of the hotel but you couldn't smell this at all unless you went outside and knelt down and smelt it. Food choices were a plenty and you were never short of anything to eat even during the day or night and snacks through the day. The quality of drinks were good if you wanted a milkshake, a smoothie or a glass of red, wine or rose with your meal on a nightime. With the beach a 5-10 mintue walk away then this is ideally located and plenty of local shops that your able to buy your buckets and spades or inflatable boats for the sea if you can't find them within the hotel shop. Anyone looking to stay at this hotel then i would thoroughly recommend this, i haven't submitted a review on trip advisor for some time but felt after staying at this hotel i wanted to express how good this was. Stayed for a week in mid September. Hotel still quite full with families with teenage and very young children. Unfortunately the pool area isn't large enough for the number of guests so sun beds were at a premium especially as at least half of them were shaded at any given time. Little sign of towels being removed if unused for any length of time. Hotel itself was very light and clean so could not be faulted...room cleaning was however nothing more than a quick tidy and towel change. The majority of the rooms were always in the shade so I'd recommend rooms on floors 2 and above, odd numbers 1 - 29 if you'd prefer sun on the balcony We stayed all-inclusive which was good value for money. Good choice of food,( though the chicken was always reformed and rubbery not matter what the dish,) and drink though not always ' international brands' and sometimes begrudgingly served..Jose Louis please take note!! Gustav, however, please take a bow as one of the friendliest and helpful waiter I've ever come across. Collapse
