Just returned from three week trip to Benidorm in the Vistamar apartments. May I say before I start, the staff were brilliant. The Vistamar is up a gentle bank so not too bad about 7 mins walk from Cafe B.The rooms are clean and the towels were changed every 2/3 days...the sheets less often, twice in three weeks. The rooms are average size but massive open balconies, not much of a view though. Twin beds with large wardrobe in one bedroom, bedside lights and tables, so ok. The living room has a TV on the wall with many English channels, furniture basic strong that could do with update but hey £500 for three weeks over Xmas and New Year we weren't going to complain. Settee, with pull out bed underneath so sleeps 4 although a bit of a crush. Dining table with two chairs and a coffe table squashed into the corner only good for piling gear up onto. The Kitchen had 2 electric hobs, electric kettle and toaster and microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment at the top.Basic utensils, plates, cups, and a couple of pans plus 2 frying pans. There's a small utility room with a clothes line in. The bathroom was fine shower/bath worked fine...boiler holds 50 litres water once you use it you have to wait till it reheats, but easily showers 3 people without any bother with the water cooling off. We did get free wifi ...renewing at reception every week. Reception/bar is huge...loads of space with pool table and tables to eat. Supermarket right next door. The only problem we came across was with the mobility bikes ....while it has a huge room especially for the bikes and charging and the luggage, while we were there we were given keys to the two doors required to get into the bike storage room and main door to get in and out, because the bikes weren't allowed in the main reception. Then they took the keys off us as the reception was open 24 hours and someone on duty, so we had to ring the bell and they would come and open the door....sounded fair enough we though....until the receptionist was doing something else and you had to wait about outside 10/15 minutes.....which happened a lot....I don't blame the staff they were brill, but there boss whoever it may be obviously has no idea about having mobility problems....imagine pulling up outside the building ringing the bell......( your dying to visit the loo) and sitting another 10/15 mins while the receptionist books someone in or comes off the phone. That was the only downside to these apartments...if the keys hadn't been taken off us,all would have been great, but the minute they did.....we had lots of problems. If you have no mobility problems I would say it was very good for the money, but if you have be prepared to be waiting around outside for ages to be let in. Collapse

On arrival at the Vistamar Apartment we were allocated 3 apartments for the family of 6. My apartment room 1001 had an over whelming smell of cigarette smoke and as a non smoker was very unpleasant for the first couple of days. The others were acceptable but not as clean as you would expect. The apartments were very basic which was not a problem as we were not looking for anything other than clean, however there was no hot water in ANY of our apartments for the duration of our stay and we had to resort to 1/4 filled baths with luke warm water and no heating other than one fan heater in the living room of each apartment. Late afternoon/evenings got extremely cold and we had to buy clothes out there to keep warm. There were no locks on the bathroom doors and to close the main entrance door to each apartment you had to lock yourself in with the key otherwise the doors stayed ajar. On checkout at 4am the reception guy did not speak very much English and would only refund our deposit once he insisted on inspecting all the rooms to check we had not damaged them. He made my family stay in the lift area downstairs and locked the doors so they couldn't get in or out until he unlocked it after inspecting each apartment. The whole process to check out took 50 mins and the coach taking us back to the airport had to wait for us. The rooms incidentally were cleaner than when we arrived. We were made to feel like criminals and were in fact there only to escape the winter here in the UK and enjoy a walking holiday. I would not recommend this apartment for any family. Collapse

Stayed at vistamar with my wife in Dec 16 for 4 nights, having not visited Benidorm for 28 years myself and 25 years for the wife we looked forward to it, Booked the vistamar thou on the beach . com although some friends have stayed there lots of times. Our apts where on the 6th floor and comprised of a lounge area with a TV , settee and table , a kitchen with small kettle , 2rings , fridge and microwave. A bathroom with bath and shower and bedroom with 2 beds and safety box in wardrobe, lounge and bedroom open up onto the biggest balcony we've had in a long time, The apts are basic and maybe need a nudge to make them more modern but we had no complaints whatsoever. With 24hr recpeption for what we paid we loved it , they're half way up a hill but it's not that steep , and far enough away from the nightlife that you don't hear it ,think we will stay again, if going in middle of summer it could be different if full of younger holiday makers , but for us out of season great .
