Character hotel situated on the hill side, reception in at level 3, pool level 0 and roof terraces level 4 and 5. Front courtyard has seating, tables and chairs and is positioned at hotel entrance adjacent to the glass fronted Breakfast room. Wifi available in breakfast room and courtyard and small reception lounge. Staff were extremely obliging and helpful and definitely patient! My room was charming but basic, comfortable for my purpose - wasn't planning and didn't stay in it very long as I was off gallivanting sight seeing, exploring and enjoying sun, sea, good food and wine! Facilities in my room included kettle, cutlery, crockery, safe (key charge and refundable deposit applies), TV, fridge, daily cleaning and towels, ample storage comfortable twin beds. TV offered English channels as I checked, but didn't use it much. You can hire hair driers for a refundable deposit. Breakfast was Continental, plenty available, stocks replenished as required, always fresh, varied selection hot and cold drinks. All clean and well presented. Although there are steps there is a mobility/wheelchair lift from Breakfast level to Reception level if required. Two internal lifts provide access to all upper and lower levels. At 0 level to the pool as you turn right to go along corridor the floor slopes down a few inches and access to the pool area is restricted by a fixed gate and foot spa. Pool is small but well kept with sunbeds around and also on the roof top terraces. The views from the roof are amazing and overlooks the town and down into the square and the hustle and bustle is soothing, sometimes to the sound of pan pipe music. Hotel is in the Old town with easy access to the beach through the little tunnel. There is an array of shops, restaurants and little bars very close by and even more within a short distance. Pathways are cobbled. But to be fair the slopes/inclines and cobbled terrain didn't seem to deter many people I saw using mobility aids and I for one took my time (not currently using aids but am aware I will be doing soon so appreciate mobility difficulties). I booked several trips out and about and there are many from which to choose but you could do the trips by regular bus service too. I would certainly return to this hotel and am looking at dates later this yearThank you to all the staff who made my stay so pleasant and thoroughly enjoyable. :-) Collapse

We stayed at this hotel for the couple of days with friends on a short break. Room was clean, but decor could benefit with update, however this reflects on a very bargain price. Hotel provides us with breakfast, basic but sufficient to start your day. Great fixture of this place is position, very close to the centre and beach. Also we use swimming pool , very clean and quiet. I would recommend this place for budget getaways. Collapse

We booked this hotel 3 nights before we actually flew there. A lot of the time I read reviews before booking and decide there and then. This time was different as I knew the location of the hotel was good as I'd been to Albufeira before. So firstly in no review have I seen anyone mention the hill the hotel is located on, going down into the main square where the shops and bars are is fine; it's the walk back my girlfriend didn't particularly enjoy each afternoon and night. I would say if you have mobility issues, are of the older generation or like my girlfriend not fond of a hill climb after cocktails and food you may find this a problem. The hotel itself is pleasant, the room was cleaned daily, new bedding and towels, the cleaning ladies are friendly and polite, one even showed us how to lock our door one morning as we were having trouble with it. You do get a breakfast at the hotel on a morning which was a bonus to us as we didn't know until we got there. There was a selection of breads, croissants with butter, jams and marmalades. Cheeses and ham, a couple of different cereals and fruit juices, tea, coffee etc The pool area we didn't use as it's only February - March when we went. It was mild most days and not hot enough. The pool area we had a clear view from our room, which is very very small. The sun beds look like they need replacing and the buildings surrounding the pool area are derelict and caving in on themselves which is no fault of the hotel but it doesn't loo very nice. There is no pool bar so you would take food and drink down there yourself. All in all a pleasant place. If you just want a base to go from this is in a great location apart from if you don't fancy a walk up a hill every time you want to go back to the hotel. It's clean, the staff are friendly and you get a nice comfy bed to sleep in. It is the most basic hotel I've stayed in but that's exactly what I wanted as my main criteria was to be in a good location to the main square and night life. Also if you need a transfer to the airport ask at reception. We were charged 35 Euros which I though was reasonable. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and if you expect "The Ritz" when you book you'll be disappointed. It's cheap, basic and in a good location and if that's your criteria get it booked. We had booked and paid for a room for 3 adults , 2 beds were fine the 3rd a 6 year old child might be lucky to fit in it , I asked the lady at reception if she had paid good money, like we had would she accept that bed for 5 nights ( based on the fact we were all 5ft 6 ) to which I was told ... I would if I had no choice .... not really wanted you want to hear ! I cant even believe they are classing this as a hotel ... you would find cleaner hostels Collapse
