Beautiful hotel in a great location. Everything worth doing is within walking distance. The interior is huge with many places to shop and sit. Beautiful park in front of the hotel and not a far walk (1.1km) from the CAT.

This was our 3rd trip to Vienna. We booked this hotel because we had stayed here several years ago, and they had one of the best Concierge's lounges in the entire chain. Their snacks were so good you did,t want to leave the hotel, and all beverages were free. This has all changed and not for the better. The snacks left a lot to be desired and the wine selection was not great. The one positive aspect was if you were at the Concierge level you did get breakfast in the dining.room which was very good. The hotel is very well located for all attractions.Staff is very friendly and helpful. Eyelyne at The Concierge's did a great job of getting us train reservations. Two problems we had were one, we were having trouble with TV and a man came in a and said he would check and call us...No call. Second problem was a missed wake-up call. When I asked at the front desk they said they has been busy. Not up to Marriott standards. Probably would select another hotel. Collapse

We had an amazing stay ay the Marriott in Vienna. The facilities, amenities, and rooms were all excellent. The staff were friendly and courteous. We felt very safe & secure at this hotel. Breakfast was excellent. We had access to the Executive Club Lounge, which (I think) could have been managed better, as some guests were not dressed appropriately (way too casual), but the staff/service was excellent. Firstly this hotel does not deserve to be anywhere near as low down as it currently is in the TA ratings for Vienna. It is basically an excellent hotel in an ideal position for exploring the city and we would recommend it highly to anyone visiting. On arrival, we were greeted so warmly by the lovely Michaela and were given a room that suited us really well. It is was sign of things to come as the service in the hotel was great throughout. It is vital to have a good concierge desk in a city and nothing was too much trouble for either reception or the concierge desk throughout our stay and the service from both, from start to finish, was excellent. It is worth getting the travel card, available from the concierge, which gives access to trams, buses and underground and also discount off most sights. There is a tram stop right outside the hotel and it is so efficient and so easy to get around the city using that. It was also very easy to walk everywhere from the hotel but we should have used the trams more than we did really ! Breakfast in the hotel is in a nice, relaxing open plan restaurant and is very good. It is extensive and well organised, with great fresh orange juice and an excellent egg station run by the lovely Vlanya. One afternoon we went to Schonbrunn Palace, so easy to get to on the underground, and it was lovely. We also had a day drip using the Twin City Liner fast catamaran ferry to Bratislava (only takes 75 mins), which was also nice despite being a little spoilt by the torrential rain and thunderstorms most of the day ! About 100 yards only from the hotel is a restaurant called Huth. It has an Italian part, an Austrian part and a grill part. It was recommended to us by the hotel and really was excellent and reasonably priced – we went to all three restaurants and they were great. The hotel’s cocktail bar was a great place to finish the evening and many thanks to the lovely Gioia and Silvana, who were fantastic and made such great cocktails. They always had time for us despite being rushed off their feet most of the time ! Now for the one issue we had. As has been referred to on this site in the past there is an issue when the hotel holds an outside function in the evening. They don’t happen that often I believe but there was a really noisy wedding upstairs on the Saturday night we were there and the noise totally destroyed the atmosphere in the cocktail bar and café in the very large open plan public areas below. Every time the function room door opened (was about every 15 seconds it felt) you got a really loud blare of music – not at all what you want when relaxing below having a romantic drink. The hotel are aware of this and apologetic but seem to be able to do little about it. Re-designing the upstairs room and its exits so as to be soundproofed from the rest of the hotel would be a good start! The function also takes a lot of the normal staff away from the guests meaning that those left are under huge pressure and overloaded as the hotel restaurant is closed for the evening, meaning the café is much busier than usual ! It was chaotic unfortunately despite the best efforts of the staff. Whilst it did not spoil our overall stay it certainly ruined that evening, our wedding anniversary ! Finally thank you again so much to Michaela and the concierge desk for the lovely treats for our anniversary – they were very much appreciated ! Collapse
