The Victoria is a superb hotel and ideally situated to explore the Island, The buses are easy and cheap to use I would not recommend driving as the roads are very congested and the rules of the road differ from anywhere else!!.. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good and a great choice and the room was comfortable. Annoyance - they only put 1 white wine glass and 1 red wine glass in the room (caused squabbles amongst the occupants) and one night some other guests decided to have a very physical and verbal dispute in the early hours.. all iin all good vlue for money and I would recommend a glass of wine on the roof as the sun sets as a perfect end to a days exploring Collapse

My fiancee and I visited Sliema from 6th-13th July and booked The Victoria Hotel because of the excellent reviews given on TripAdvisor. And I'm delighted to say that it didn't disappoint! The staff at reception are knowledgeable, helpful and were able to assist with any queries we had. When we arrived in our room, we noticed we had been given two single beds, once the staff at reception explained they don't have any double beds in the entire hotel, they were very quick to push our two single beds together and sort out the sheets for us :) Other than that the room was clean, spacious, well-decorated and had free use of the in-room safe. The air conditioning is fantastic - we read some mixed reviews about the air conditioning on TripAdvisor but our room was always at a lovely refreshing temperature that was easy to adjust if we wanted it to be cooler/hotter. We were also given a room with a sea-view which was a great bonus. One more thing, we never heard any noise from neighbours next door, below or above, and never even heard people walking down the corridor which was handy. A couple of small things to note was that the fridge never really got too cold, and the balcony could have been a bit bigger, but these were such small issues and didn't stop us from having an amazing holiday. The location was good because you could walk in three different directions from the hotel and end up at three different parts of the coastline. Mini-markets are scattered nearby so we could stock up with water, sun-cream, food etc at a decent price. We didn't think there was too much going on in Sliema so actually preferred going out to Valletta in the evening but it's still pleasant enough. I would also say that the walk back to hotel from the harbour is quite a strenuous and steep uphill 10min walk. My fiancee was not a fan of making that trip after a glass of wine (or two!). The breakfast food and choice was good. Again we saw on TripAdvisor some mixed reviews of the breakfast but there was everything you could want and all tasted good. Sometimes we did have to wait a minute or two until a table was prepared but it really wasn't an issue. The rooftop pool was beautiful and had the most incredible views over Sliema and towards Valletta. The pool could get quite busy, but having two other pools meant we could always find somewhere to cool off. I would also say that finding loungers in the shade can be tricky at peak times! In summary, we had an amazing time at The Victoria Hotel and would definitely recommend it. P.S. If you can do the Game Of Thrones tour with Malcolm Ellul then please do it! Even if you're not a fan of the TV series, you get a tour round the whole island with some amazing drop off locations. Collapse

My friend and I stayed here for a long weekend break. Check-in was smooth and the staff that greeted us were really friendly. However, when taken up to our room it involved two different lifts and a 4 minute walk between the two. The room was ok but dated and basic. Not like I remembered seeing in the pictures I'd seen. It was late and so we went straight to bed but not before I had tried to take a shower in one of the two in the bathroom. One was a cubicle shower which had a fixed shower head which didn't work and then a second unfixed shower head with no hook at head height. And no where but the floor to leave toiletries. The other was in the bath which again, had no fixed hook at head height which made showering a little tricky. Luckily I didn't need to wash my hair! In the morning we found the air conditioning had broken and so complained at reception about that and the shower situation who said they would send maintenance. I'd left some early feedback via Expedia and then also received a message telling me to get in touch with reception and arrange to change rooms which hadn't been suggested originally when speaking to reception. We ended up changing rooms thanks to Eva for her help with our things and being so apologetic. We were much happier with our new room and the location was straight up in just one lift! Interestingly, when handing back our keys for the previous room we were asked by the receptionist where we had got them as they were room keys for the Palace Hotel!! When I looked at photos for the Palace Hotel rooms on trip advisor, they looked exactly like where we had been put originally.... On a positive note, the rooftop pool area is lovely although we waited 90 minutes for food at lunch time due to a kitchen communication error and my friend was spoken to quite rudely by a staff member when she questioned where it had got to. They redeemed the situation by offering us complimentary drinks! We had a lovely time at the spa too although mid facial the therapist tried to up-sell me a face mask for €37 which I didn't appreciate. Before the treatment is fine but not mid way please! Overall it was a pleasant stay after we had been put in the room and hotel we had actually booked. We would recommend the Victoria Hotel, provided that is where you actually get to stay! Collapse

A newly renovated hotel situated in the heart of Sliema. We got a nice room with a lovely king size bed and balcony (very small) with sea view. The breakfast was good, not very big, but still fresh! I will definitely go back!

We visited Sliema with a large group in July and had found The Victoria Hotel on here, we were just planning on using it as a base because we would be out and about a lot. I can't tell you how lovely this place is. The staff are amazing from the reception, to the pool staff to the hilarious guys behind the bar at the Penny Black. The breakfast is lovely I don't understand why some moan in their reviews. The Temptasian restaurant on the 9th floor is a must. The view is stunning with fireworks going off from everywhere. We reserved a table for 8pm and stayed till closing, no need to rush. The food was lovely. The rooms are beautiful and the spa was lovely. I don't have a bad word to say about this place, thank you Victoria hotel, I have fallen in love with Malta and Sliema, we will be back for a romantic long weekend soon! Collapse
