My partner and I visited Malta in June of this year,2017,for 7 days..We stayed at the Victoria Hotel,Sliema, and what a good choice it was..Hospitality & service were both fantastic from our arrival to our departure, nothing to complain about at all..ALL the staff from the room cleaners to the front desk were very polite & courteous, and nothing was too much trouble for them..Literally 5 mins walk from Sliema promenade, bars & restaurants (if you wanted to eat out) & if you walked the other way then again literally 5 mins walk from the ferry terminals & bus stops..Very spacious, air conditioned rooms, large bathroom etc,all the bits you would like to be good WERE good..Inside and outside swimming pools, just fab..We were halfboard - the breakfast choice in the morning was great, and the evening meal choice again was great..Have no reservations at all about recommending this very very good hotel..Malta itself is a great place to visit, just pick up the brochures for the local places & not so local places to visit - the 7 day bus pass is a must !!! We arrived late and we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Our room had a balcony, it was very roomy and comfortable, The bathroom was also roomy. I asked if we could have face clothes and they were delivered promptly. The breakfast was great, lots of choice. There were two outdoor pools and one indoor. I loved this area. We couldn't fault The Victoria and would definitely stay again. Collapse

We booked this last minute as our original hotel- thanks to trip advisor- showed pics of renovations running on. Glad we got this hotel- It's classy - great staff- reception staff are brilliant at their job. Our room is basic double- is comfortable for our weeks stay. The basic rooms do not have bath robes- but you can fire one out at E2.50 per day. It has tea /coffee facility - water is not free. It has a fridge and safe. Good space for clothes etc. Bathroom is good size and shampoo / conditioner and gels- towels are on the small side though. Has a hairdryer. Has good air conditioning which you really need. Good TV - normal overseas channels for brits - sky and BBC news. You can get subbed towels from reception. The outdoor pool is on 9th floor and belongs to sister hotel the palace next door. It's an amazing view . Sun beds are comfortable but as sharing with the palace- need to get there early to secure one. There is an inside small pool on floor 7 which is nice -also small steam room and sauna and chill out loungers indoors. Has a few outdoor beds on this floor also. It has a spa with treatments but are pricy. Breakfast is great - buffet and cooked. Is adequate . Has a good souvenirs shop on site quality gifts. Has an underground car park too. We hired a car- wish we hadn't bothered - plenty of buses which are cheap to use and frequent. Roads are awful for driving - This is only our 2nd day- would recommend the city touring hop on off bus. It does two areas - a great way to see Malta in one day-. Then next day you can go visit places of interest that you saw on route. We got the 2 day ticket to go this. Just round corner is a well stocked supermarket which is great for water / drinks snacks for your room. Best book trips from reception- if you go to the waterfront- there are loads of people selling different trips offering big discounts but can't guarantee it though. Would def recommend this hotel. It is easy walking distance to waterfront as well. On the waterfront- restaurants are expensive to eat- so you really need. Walk around a bit to find a reasonably priced one. We are still looking for tonight. Malta itself is undergoing a lot of construction work which is a real pity - the old buildings are lovely but just surrounded by cranes and builders. It's dusty a bit of a nightmare for travelling . Collapse

The service was excellent and the staff very helpful in all matters, including a last-minute replacement booking after the booking site went broke. Generally, we try to avoid them as hotels often offer the same rates and booking directly with the hotel saves them fees probably lowers prices in the long run. The facilities are not special but good. The rooms are tidy, seem clean and are of decent quality. Unfortunately, the pools close at eight, which is too early to relax after a day out, especially because the outside pool would be well suited for sunsets. The breakfast was okay but very standard, with what we felt was little attention to detail. The B&B we stayed at on Gozo had much better breakfast at much lower rates. Collapse
