This hotel is so reasonable for its money. The rooms were great sizes and fitted our party of 5. The staff were friendly and patient, with my toddler that had lots of questions to ask. Breakfast was huge and delicious. It didn't bother us that there was not a huge car park . We would definitely go back here. Great for families. Collapse

We just returned from a fantastic stay at this hotel. I booked this directly and had an executive double room including breakfast for just over £70. I must say I was slightly concerned as to how it would be given the extraordinarily generous price. However, I needn't have been concerned. A very warm welcome from the reception staff. I found it quite strange that the reception is actually part of the lounge bar area but no matter. Everything is immaculately clean and all the staff are clearly very engaged both with their jobs, the hotel and also the customers. That's great to see and becoming more rare these days in other establishments. Our room was absolutely huge with one of the most comfy beds I have ever slept in. Check out my other reviews as I have travelled quite a lot around the world. Beautiful night sleep. Free Wi-Fi and very fast. All the usual amenities you would expect in a hotel of this nature. I don't think there is a health club although I wasn't up for rest and relaxation but for the purpose of attending a funeral. We had dinner in the restaurant which was very nice with decent portions and again, superb service from lovely members of staff. I absolutely adore the black cat that seems to have adopted the hotel as its 2nd home. Very nice. After dinner we headed back to the bar and had a quick nightcap before hitting the hay. Next morning, breakfast didn't disappoint and there was plenty of it-great portions and great quality plus extremely hot. Again great service from the staff Free parking as you would expect. Well located for main roads No complaints whatsoever and as I have family in this area I will definitely be staying here again. It's a real hotel with great character and great staff. Very clean and well furnished. If I was staying here on business I probably wouldn't bother going out anywhere else as it's very attractive and well priced. Please pass my thanks to all of the staff for looking after myself and my wife, Claire. Collapse
Could be so much better

Easy to find with ample parking. Went to check in and had to wait to be acknowledged. Check in after this was quick, mainly due to the fact that nothing was explained about dinner, breakfast, facilities etc. The executive room was a good size. However there was nothing about it that made it stand out from a standard room. No bottled water, no extra toiletries, no free newspaper even. Just paying extra for a few square feet seems pointless. There were several stains on the carpet, toilet toll holder was missing, no power sockets near the bed at all and the heating made loud noises when it kicked in. I have never stayed in a hotel room where there was no hotel information booklet. No information on room service, dinner and bar menu or information about the local area. More importantly from a health and safety point of view there was no instructions on how to contact reception in case of emergency. Very poor show. None of the electrical devices displayed a PAT test sticker. I do hope this had been carried out in the last 12 months as required by law! The bed was very comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. The TV turned itself off every now and again bit I got used to it! Went down to breakfast to be greeted by a very miserable lady who pointed at a table and said 'room number?'. Good morning to you too!! That said, breakfast was delicious. Quality produce prepared with care. Housekeeping walked straight into my room without knocking or announcing themselves. It was still 90 minutes before check out time! I would not stay here again. The basics have been overlooked which is very disappointing. Collapse

Arrival .. ok Room ... ok ( actually quite bright with two walls with windows) Nice bed, clean room... all good Meal- well here we go... the calamari / squid... was ok, but why not offer something to moisten the experience? Sweet chilli sauce is low cost and tasty. Chef?? Tasted ok but dry, no taste of sea let alone plastic bag it was frozen in. Next ... oven baked salmon The fish was ok... I know you modern pubs are all about minimalism, but really! This is no fine diner... slice of salmon (very nice) about 10 slices of potato, 20 peas (I didn’t count) and some salad I like this place, but the food needs to be better Collapse
