This was our 2nd time to a Valatin Star Hotel. Last year we went to Son Bou. This year we opted for the sister hotel in Calan Bosch Menorca . The Hotel is on two floors which sprals over a large area. We were offered a pool view room. If we paid 12 euros extra a day! However this was only offered on the ground level . This we didn't want. So we had a balcony facing the shops in the opposite side of the hotel ( very limited sunshine) . The room was good , but i didnt personally find the bed comfortable . No way could I sit up in bed due to the wooden headboard. The room had very little drawer space. The TV channels were great if you love Truetv . The pool area was a bit disappointing uncomfortable sun loungers that were too close together . I found the pool resturant good , but couldn't understand why a man must wear a shirt! While women sat in bikini's confusing . The resturant was very well run. Overall I pleased with food and good service . Only moans were the Orange juice and Scrambled eggs which I found awful . The entertainment at night was very good with the highlights being the Abba and Drifters tribute acts which really engaged the guests . Over we enjoyed the acts we saw . At night on the main terrace we found due to the unseasonably poor weather that watching some of the entertainment was challenging . Patio heaters would not go amiss towards the end of season . The house keeping standards were excellent and the maids friendly . This is an adult only hotel so it feels quite at times . For many that's a positive. However the hotel does do things to break things up a bit . Mexican food, Japanese food night . A gutarist playing during dinner was a nice touch . The Hotel is part of the Calan Bosch Marina with shops, bars and resturants. I found the shops well stocked and sometimes pricey . Overall we enjoyed being at the Valatin Bosch . Although I am not sure we would rush back . Collapse

I had been to the hotel nine years previously and always wanted to return, the hotel was the same but the management had changed and the now manager Stephan was a pleasure to watch he worked so hard always there egging people on and even gets in the pool and joins in with the water volley ball. We have just returned after a week and have had the best time. The food is lovely plenty of choice for every bodies tastes. Our room was overlooking the pool on the ground floor fantastic, entertainment every night again fab, local to everything you want and plenty of places to visit. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and pleasant we never had one person miserable or uninterested. The star of the show is Stephen a really involved manager and hands on. Stephen does a bingo on a Tuesday night and whilst its not every ones cup of tea (but we are on holiday, enjoy) it was a fabulous bit of fun and again Stephen made the night. Its a five minute walk to a lovely beach where there is a snack bar. Plenty of places to eat and drink at the marina where the hotel virtually sits on. Drinks are not cheap but when you order a spirit its poured by hand and always looks like a treble so we found we didnt need to drink as much because the drinks were so strong. A litre jug of Sangria cost 13 eurs for which we shared and was lovely. Maid service every day room was so clean as was the whole hotel. Towls are provided for round the pool from 9.30 each morning which is a great touch we felt and free. All in all fabulous hotel brilliant staff and a very hard working Manager brings it all together. We would definitely recommend a visit and we will be returning. Collapse

we stayed here for one week in Sept 17. we arrived to very warm welcome cool towels to refresh after flight. The room was lovely and clean and kept that way through the week, we overlooked the pool and liked the position. The food was good bit be warned drinks in the hotel are dear ... €10 for a cocktail but bars outside cheaper, If I had to pick a negative it would be the dining tables are close to one another...we felt we had to talk to the people next to us as it was like being at same table . There are lots of good points about this hotel -Great location right on the front overlooking the marina. Lovely friendly reception staff and porter made check in very quick and easy. Beautiful reception area with fresh flowers. 1st floor room overlooking the pool - very spacious and super clean. No complaints whatsoever about the room, super comfy bed, efficient shower over bath, fridge, safe, TV, aircon and large balcony with afternoon sun. We were so pleased that we had booked the pool view room as the other rooms have awful views overlooking the road and the garden rooms with a terrace looked really dark and dreary. Maid service was excellent as was the cleaning throughout the whole hotel. Huge pool area but oh dear those claustrophobic sun loungers! There was no room to move in-between them and impossible to get any shade from the large umbrellas as they are fixed in position. We didn't mind the poolside entertainment, it was fun to watch the water volley ball even if you didn't join in. Apart from that and the aquafit there was no music at all around the pool so surely people can't complain if their peace is disturbed for only a couple of hours at most each day! The poolside snack bar was reasonable and had a varied menu and the staff served canapes around the pool twice a day which was a nice touch. Breakfast was varied with all the usual buffet choices and tea and coffee were served to your table. You just managed to get 2 cups - 1 each out of the jugs of milk and coffee which we felt was rather mean.. Dinner was from 8 when we arrived then it changed to 7:30 from 1st September - we found that if you were not there for the restaurant opening it was difficult to find a table and the crush around the buffet was terrible. I suppose if you went later it would be quieter but we do not like to eat that late in the evening. Terrible morose piped classical music in the restaurant did not create the atmosphere we expected. On the 2nd night we chose a table outside at the front overlooking the marina but were rudely told to move as the table was for 4? Yes there were 4 chairs but only 2 place settings. This put us off sitting outside even though we saw lots of couples sitting at those same tables for 4? The food all looked lovely however it was all in the presentation. The show cooked steaks and lamb were tough and gristly and stewed meats and pork were mostly bones. Some of the dishes were nice but only luke warm after you had queued up behind the masses all piling their plates high. The deserts were not to my taste at all - they all had a distinct artificial flavour and the cakes and pastries were mostly dry and tasteless. There was a fresh fruit selection and chocolate fountain which I enjoyed. The evening entertainment was mediocre with the exception of the Temptations group who were excellent and really got the crowd going. Stephan worked tirelessly to ensure everyone got a seat who wanted to watch the show. We had such high hopes for this hotel but sadly won't be returning. Collapse

Stayed at the Valentin Star for one week and would agree with the vast majority of the reviews , the hotel / rooms are spotlessly clean , the staff are all friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant is good although the restaurant can become a bit busy . Would recommend a pool view room . As mentioned in other reviews the pool area is very nice although the sun beds sit very close together you can move them to make more space. I would say the hotel is more suited to an older clientele but for a peaceful relaxing stay this hotel would be very hard to beat. Hopefully will return to the Valentin Star some day. Collapse
