Stayed here Canadian Thanksgiving weekend from Thursday to Monday. Chose this hotel based on location, very short walk to Olympic Stadium. Our purpose in Montreal was to watch the FIG World Gymnastics Competition. Several country's athletes stayed in the hotel so it made it extra special for our family. Hotel was very clean, bed and bedding very comfortable. Kuerig machine with coffee in the room, ice machine and vending machine on the same floor (stayed on the 5th floor. Room looked out on the stadium and was beautiful when lit at night. Decor purposely done to be retro, but room itself appeared to have been updated. Loved that the bathtub & toilet were separated from the sink although the sliding door didn't seem to close all the way. One negative was that the lighting in the room was very low. Lots of lights but all seemed to have been very low wattage. Ate in the hotel restaurant; there is a great deal for breakfast but it wasn't clarified that what exactly it included so we opted to order off the menu every morning. Food was tasty and plentiful, service was quick. Coffee had an odd taste the first two days, almost like it was flavoured but either we got used to it or someone else made it on the remaining days because it ended up being just fine although I did prefer the coffee in the room instead. No Starbucks nearby, a Tim Horton's was a very long 25 minute walk away! We didn't use public transit but it seemed to have been easy enough to use if we chose to, bus stop outside the hotel. Hotel does have a shuttle to local attractions, didn't use it at all although on the last day, which was down pouring, we had forgotten all about it and should have used it to get us to the Biodome! Staff, from restaurant, to front desk, to cleaning staff were all very friendly. Kept our bags locked up and allowed us to use the facilities after checkout since our flight was not until 6:30pm on checkout day. The pool was nice, heated to a good temperature, sauna was nice to use. all was clean with lots of towel to dry off with. They have an exercise room but didn't use it, the athletes did seem to use it regularly though. A great hotel, would stay again if ever in the area! Collapse

The hotel and our room seemed to be in very good shape. It was centrally located across across the street from the Olympic Park and Botanical Gardens so several sights including the Insectarium, Japanese and Chinese gardens, Biodome etc. were all in walking distance and there was access to the metro nearby as well. The hotel also said they has a shuttle and offered to allow us to stay parked in their parking lot after checkout so we could go to the Biodome. However there were a few things I didn't like. The door to the hallway didn't keep out sound very well which although could be tolerable, wasn't as a bunch of high school athletes were in the hotel for a competition. Also the fold out bed was not very comfortable, and despite being advertised as sleeping two people, could not do so comfortably. Finally I was surprised that the hotel did not offer breakfast with the room. However, we were further disappointed to find out that my eight year old daughter "had to" get an adult breakfast which she of course couldn't finish. The set breakfast was very limited with only a choice of only (three) pancakes or eggs with potatoes and toast; both meals were served with drinks. We expected a nicer meal with more variety for a hotel of this caliber and the option of a child meal should be offered to children! It's so disappointing when hotels can't accommodate small things like that which should just be options available to the discretion of customers. Collapse

I was looking for a hotel in the Montreal area that was relatively close to the city and had free parking and the hotel universal met and exceeded my expectations. Parking at the hotel was extremely easy, there was no garage to maneuver through, just a regular parking lot. If you don't want to move your car, the hotel offers a free shuttle which will bring you to the viau subway stop and other areas around the hotel. The hotel room was clean and comfortable. The room we stayed at had a view of the Olympic tower which was a pleasant surprise checking into the hotel. Overall, the hotel exceeded expectations by providing free parking, shuttle service, discounted admission tickets to attractions in the Olympic park area, and it's proximity to the Olympic park and botanical gardens. As others have stated there are not a lot of hotels around the hotel. There are some fast food restaurants around and a benihana but I did not have the opportunity to really eat at any of the surrounding restaurants. I don't think I could have found a better hotel at such a reasonable price. It was an amazing experience. Collapse

Our stay in Sept 2017 was the second since May and based on that experience it definitely missed repeating our experience. First sign was when I called to make the reservation and intended special request. I was put on hold and never gotten back to twice. I went and reserved on-line. At check-in the 1st room they provided was unacceptable. The sink was clogged with black crud bubbling up and the faucet body/handle assembly was so loose it was flopping around. I alerted them and they changed our room. Fine but because it was so obviously broken this was completely avoidable. Second room was ok and similar to our 1st visit. Generally the room layouts are ok but dark and the bath areas are odd and cramped. This room had an unplugged lamp on the nightstand that was impossible to plug in (bed was unmovable) so I moved it to the TV table for light. The rooms are old and in need of renovation. I did use the restaurant this time and it was just ok. I usually like a continental type starter (Pastries etc.) which was not available. I thought it was odd considering I was in Montreal. Anyway the quality doesn't match the cost so the value is low. I'll probably stay again mostly because of location to my family and lack of choice but with adjusted expectations. It has lots of potential to be a solid 4 star hotel. The needed renovation would make it really nice. Collapse
