We recently stayed at the Twelve to celebrate our parents 80th birthdays and 55th Wedding anniversary and wish to thank the hotel staff for making this a very special visit for Mam and Dad. The rooms, food, location were all excellent and little touches such as hand written cards, champagne and cake were much appreciated. All staff were very friendly but we would like to compliment Liam in the restaurant especially. A great waiter and so pleasant with it. Collapse

Sorry we only got to stay one night, but our room was great!. We had a luxury room with a super comfy bed and very interesting decor - we particularly liked the mood lighting in the bathroom! Aoife at reception was extremely helpful from printing our boarding passes to finding a safety pin to keep me decent :D Wonderful dinner, we had the chef's selection with wine pairings and the sommelier was very knowledgeable and fun. The spa was fully booked so we didn't get to try it but all in all a great stay. Would definitely go back for a longer time next visit. Collapse

I recently booked a break for myself and my husband and our 14 year old son. We stayed 6th to 8th oh June. We booked a table for the tasting menu at West. We were treated royally from the moment we arrived. Our stay was a gift for my husbands birthday and the welcome treats and card left in our room we're a lovely touch. We've stayed a few times, but this was the best ever. The food and service in the bar and at breakfast were really great. The atmosphere throughout is so relaxed. The highlight was the taste experience. The welcome we received from the sommelier (who actually remembered us from a previous stay), was so welcoming, knowledgeable and attentive. He explained everything in detail, and made every dish and drink so interesting. The meal itself was amongst the best we've ever had, the wines were perfection with it. I am recommending The Twelve and West in particular to everyone. Thank you so much for turning a hotel break and meal into such a treat and experience. We'll definitely be back, and definitely take the taste menu option again. Everything was superb. Collapse

Well run with very friendly staff. Nice welcome fruit juice drink on arrival, and exciting granola and nut bar in the room for us. If you like the bar, which we did, you can buy the granola in the bakery attached! Very good size rooms with a nice and modern bathroom. The hotel has lots of quirky features and is really tastefully decorated. The room itself had a lot of light from electrical equipment, which after a few of the great G&Ts from the bar we struggled to switch off. It's not hard but I'd recommend dimming the clock and switching off the colourful bathroom lights before you go out for the evening! We both agreed that we would definitely make a point of staying here again if we are in the area!! Collapse

The Twelve Hotel was the second hotel we stayed at on our two week tour of Ireland. After staying in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin for two nights, the Twelve Hotel had a tough act to follow. But it followed it nicely. The Twelve Hotel describes itself as 'boutique' which to me indicated something out of the ordinary, which indeed, it was, but only in the most pleasant sense of the wood.. The rooms were quite spacious, with the usual amenities, but the floors were wood, unlike most hotels. Our room had a 'Juliet balcony' meaning the glass door could be opened, but there really was no place to stand on the balcony. Throughout the hotel, in the lobby and the hallways, the decorations were unique and a bit whimsical, which only added to the hotel's charm. One unusual feature of the hotel is that a pair of rooms shares a small vestibule off the hallway, providing an added buffer to any possible hallway noise. The rooms were indeed, quiet, clean and comfortable. One of the little quirks is the 'mood lighting' in the bathroom, which basically is a rotating pattern of colored lights that you can either leave on, if the mood suits you, or turn off, if not. Another attraction was the hotel's bakery, which supplied the hotel with scrumptious baked goods of all varieties served during breakfast. The bakery was also a stand alone business with its own store-front providing a passerby the same wonderful pastries. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the hotel provided an option of either a breakfast buffet (with those wonderful pastries) or ordering from a menu. All in all, we were quite pleased with the Twelve Hotel and would recommend it for a quiet weekend or longer visit to the Galway coast. Collapse
