Stayed here the weekend of the Scotland/Welsh rugby match so it was expensive! (But then, so was everywhere else!) As many other people have said before, the room was tiny but as we had read other reviews we were expecting this and there were some clever space saving devices. (Like the tiny shelf that folds down under the telly so you can sit on the end of the bed and have a miniature table. The room was impeccably clean as was the bathroom - could not fault this. We were told upon check in that the air conditioning was not working in our room but that they had put a heater in for us and turned it on. There was no heater... This proved to be absolutely fine as the room warmed up pretty quickly with us in it and neither my husband or I like a hot room. The parking was a nightmare - the hotel does have a wee car park operated by Britannia parking, however the card/note slots were broken and the machine only takes a maximum of 25 coins. (Which as we were scrabbling to find £15 for 24 hours in change & the hotel had no £1 coins was a bit of a disaster. Reception advised downloading the Ringo parking app which we did, however the location number on the meter in the car park was not recognized (not the hotel's fault though they couldn't tell us what it was and we were back and forth between hotel and car park like a yo yo!) Anyway - 40 minutes later we had the right money in £1 coins and had missed the first half of the rugby......... The location is brilliant and saved us a fortune in taxi's - if you can find one during the 6 Nations. Would stay again if I was just going for one night and request a room that, like ours, was located to the rear of the hotel - we didn't hear a thing all night despite being in the city centre. :-) Collapse

I booked a 6-night stay before I realised it was over the weekend when Scotland were playing Wales at Murrayfield, so prices were higher than they might have been. I booked through booking.com and paid £490 for a double room with the bells and whistles, which means towels, hairdryer & TV. It's very handy for Haymarket station and Murrayfield, and for Edinburgh in general. The staff are very helpful. The room was small but clean and equipped well enough. The shower was great. The big downsides were the bed which was very hard, the double glazed windows that didn't really keep out any noise and the air-conditioning/heating, which we needed to warm the room. Having turned it off it kept making noise throughout the first night. Having reported it to reception they provided an extra duvet & an electric convector heater, so thank you for that. Having stayed in Edinburgh many times but never here before, this was a bit of a risk, and I would possibly stay here for an odd night by myself, but for VFM I think I would go to a Premier Inn or Travelodge where you tend to know what you're going to get for your money. This place is sort of in between one of those and a hostel. Be interesting to see what others make of it. Collapse

Very very noisy. Heard our neighbours fighting and other neighbours talking from 5 am. And after paying 182 euro's for one night without breakfast we needed to pay 2,50 pounds per bag to store it while waiting for the room to be ready and again pay after checking out and before going to the airport. Room very very small which would not be a problem in itself but for this price.... also air conditioning in the room was broken and the room smelled like an ashtray as our neighbours kept smoking with the window open. Never again. Collapse

Tune hotel was total nightmare! rooms are so tiny!unfortunately. we,my husband and myself together with another couple stayed for 3 nights and only reason stayed after first night was because we had to pay up front and would not get refund. on arriving we were early as our flight was an early morning flight from Belfast so were told that they could keep our luggage until check in time but we would have to pay £2.50 per bag, never heard tell of this in all my years of travelling to many countries.. when eventually rooms were ready we were shocked at how tiny they were you could just about walk round the sides and bottom of bed . there was a total of 4 coat hangers hanging in front of mirror we had no where to put our suitcases. the bathroom was the tiniest iv ever saw we had 2 bath towels and that was supposed to do us for 3 nights stay no hand towels at all.our first nights stay was unfortunately the night that hurricane Doris passed through scotland . i froze the whole night .next morning we discovered the reason for the coldness not joking you could pass a £1 coin through the gap in the window, our friends were staying in the room next to us and had the same problem we went to reception were i spoke to manager i asked him to come up to the sixth floor he inspected the gap by opening the window and closing it harder to see if it would seal which it did not. he suggested that we seal the window up with tape!!!! i said no this was not acceptable so we got 2 rooms at front of hotel and still the cold came in!!!! we gave up and wore extra layers to bed.The restaurant/bar Platform 5 adjoining the hotel was suggested to us by the staff at reception we had a meal which was ok in it and decided to stay for couple of drinks after fourth drink we were told that we would not be served any more and no reason given!! i can only assume we were discriminated against as we were Irish!. we had no further dealings with hotel staff and on morning of check out we got a begrudged thanks for handing keys in.As we waited in reception for our friends to come down to check out i purposely listen to hear the staffs greetings to other guests and was quite annoyed to hear how pleasant they spoke to them wishing them a safe onward journey and hoped they had a pleasant stay. All four of us left that hotel feeling belittled and hurt. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE!!!! Collapse
