Good view from the bar/terrace area. Helpful staff. Menu at the restaurant looked good. Pool looked nice too. Breakfast ok. Balcony lovely. Bit of an odd location - car definitely needed to get anywhere. No gym. We stayed in a deluxe double room and the room and bathroom did not justify the word 'deluxe'! They really need refurbing and updating, they were very basic and slightly outdated. Not good value. Collapse

We enjoyed every minute ! Friendly staff, free shuttle minibus, large room with spectacular view, great food and housewine, nice pool...❤️ Great location to explore the Amalfi coast, we rented a scooter for 3 days which was perfect to drive the Costiera Amalfitana and visit Positano, Ravello, Amalfi, Vietri sul Mare. Vico Equense is charming as well and Sorrento of course. Collapse
Great value for money in a great location

We stayed here for a week in July 2017. The rooms are fairly basic, as is the breakfast but the staff, location, view and amenities more than make up for it. We asked to change room (ours was a little small) and we were moved to a larger one with a terrace when it became available with no hassle. The staff couldn't do enough to make our stay as great as possible, and they were so friendly and warm. The breakfast is pretty basic (the earlier you go, the better). but the views from the terrace restaurant are so gorgeous that you barely notice what you are eating. The sun loungers by the pool are surrounded by a beautifully maintained garden, and even in peak season, we found it to be so chilled out and relaxing. Housekeeping came every single day, but somehow we never even saw them - super efficiency :-). There is a free shuttle bus that runs from 8am - 1pm, and again from 5pm - 10pm. The driver (Domenico) is brilliant, so helpful and friendly with lots of advice on the best places to see or eat, or what's good to do nearby. The shuttle service is vital, as there are limited footpaths from the hotel into Vico Equense itself, so it would be dangerous to try to walk into town. A shuttle service that runs all day would be even better, as it's such a big draw for staying in the hotel. Vico Equense itself is a lovely town, really authentic and not as many tourists as Sorrento or other places, so well worth spending a few evenings there. The train station is nearby, and the shuttle bus can drop you off, so getting into Sorrento or further afield is easy. Collapse
Beautiful boutique hotel and lovely people running it.

The views from the terrace restaurant across the Bay of Naples are as good as you will get anywhere along the coast. The Hotel is a perfect slice of local architecture and is beautifully maintained by a dedicated and extremely friendly staff. Breakfast is a bit basic but the restaurant provides a limited but very high class and reasonbly priced menu for evening dinning and you get those views! No hire car needed as they provide a free shuttle service to the local train stations and local beaches. Sorrento is ten minutes on the train and just 4 Euros for a return fare and the nearer town of Vico Equense is a ten minute ride in the free shuttle. We will be going back! Collapse
Vico Equense is more than a convenient hub between cities!

If you don't like tourist traps, crowded, busy places and you're prepared to experience a trip through time to a place that gives you a glimpse of a small thriving social & functional community working together like a well-oiled machine. Stay longer and make this your gateway to Pompeii, Naples, Sorrento, Capri & Ischia. The hotel is a wonderful restoration project that marries modern & quaint classical design. The terrace/dining room is the crown jewel of Torre Barbara. The panoramic view of the Bay anytime of the day is majestic & breathtakingly beautiful. The staff here are very much representative of the community at large. They work well together like a happy functional family. Sabrina (La Americana) is a vast reservoir of information & excursion ideas. Domenico is another pillar, transporting guests up & down the mountain to the beach & village, to the town, or train station. His recommendations are nuggets of gold too! Eat at Terramia; you won't be disappointed! Don't mess with Concetta! Playful, but serious! She means business! As the commander in chief of your dining room experience; she & Dario will make sure you are well taken care of as they liaison between the kitchen & Chef below via telephone. Personally, I enjoyed this town & Positano the most from my coastal trip. If I could do it all over again, I'd spend more time here instead of Sorrento, Amalfi or Salerno. I owe Vico Equense another visit as I didn't get to the top of Mt. Faito, Ischia or Herculaneum! Alla prossima! Tanti bacci! Collapse
