Good central location but clearly in need of some care and attention. Room - showerroom was fine and pretty new but the bedroom was bleak - nowhere to tell the time, no bedside tables, completely plain with not a single picture, No drawers anywhere. Bed was comfortable. Dinner was poor but breakfast buffet was good. I would not stay here again. Thon Opera was much better. Collapse

We stayed here at the beginning of October 2016. We arrived early, as our flight came in to Oslo around 7am. By the time we had breakfast and arrived at the hotel it was about 10:30am, and even though check-in wasn’t for quite some time, the hotel permitted us to check in and go to our room. This was greatly appreciated as we’d been up for over 36 hours already. The room was nicely appointed with a stocked minibar, loaner umbrella, comfortable bed, mini wardrobe and decent wifi. The bed comes with two duvets which is good if you hate sharing the covers, but not so nice if you like cuddling under one together. My hubby and I made it work, and it was lovely. The bed was extraordinarily comfortable. If I had to complain about something in the room, it would be the shower, which shares the entire flooring with the sink and toilet, i.e., when you shower it all gets wet. The shower pressure was amazing. I think apart from the flooring situation; it has to be hands down the best shower I’ve had at a hotel. Maybe if the glass wall divider was about six inches wider, it might have made a great difference in wetting the whole place. The little wardrobe provided a good place to hang coats and tops. There was also a fairly decent sized loaner umbrella in the room available for use on rainy days, which I thought was a thoughtful amenity. Fortunately, the weather was beautiful for our entire stay in Oslo. The room contained a stocked minibar, and if you moved it all aside, provided enough place to keep your water bottles cool in the mini-fridge. The room also had a kettle and fixings to make coffee or tea if you so wished. We kept the window open to allow the room to be a little cooler, as that’s what we prefer. There was an ice machine on the second floor which served us very well. The hotel provided a complimentary breakfast which was served in a very nice dining room. The breakfast buffet was comprehensive, from an array of cheeses and meats, to different types of salads and slaws, fruits and vegetables with delicious dips, croissants and breads, differently cooked eggs, potatoes, sausages, baked beans, bacon, salmon, waffles, cereals, juices, teas and coffee. Such an amazing spread of items, you are guaranteed to find something you like, and can fill up on to last you much of the day. Given as how relatively expensive Oslo is, this was a great economical choice. We pretty much subsisted on a huge breakfast and then an early dinner. Location wise, this hotel was perfectly situated. We took the Flybussen from the airport to the last stop at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia, which was literally around the corner, about a three-minute walk. Getting back to the airport, again, not a problem. I would suggest not pre-booking the bus, but rather buying your ticket from the driver. If you show him your hotel reservation you get a 20% discount. The same when leaving, wait to get to the bus – when checking out, mention that you’re taking the Flybussen and the hotel staff will give you the 20% off coupon. We could have saved ourselves some NWK had we waited, but I pre-booked the bus. The tram runs right outside the hotel and stop is less than a 100 meters away. It made getting around Oslo very easy, and we used the buses and trams to go most places that weren’t within walking distance. Oslo being as small as it is, getting around was super easy. The hotel is very centrally located and a great jumping off point. Overall the hotel was extremely clean and well-kept, the service staff was kind and attentive, the breakfast area was cleaned immediately and items replaced continually ensuring a steady availability of food. The front desk staff was always available and eager to answer questions and assist in any way possible. If I return to Oslo, and I’m hoping I do, I would definitely stay here again. Collapse

Thon Hotel Europa is a great value-for-money hotel. I'd say the prices are comparable to budget hotels, but you are getting quality beyond this. The hotel seems a bit dated and this comes across in some of the rooms. They are fine, they work as they should. But the decor lets it down a bit. The breakfast is continental standard. Some of the more expensive hotels among the Thon hotels offer more delicacies and better coffee options, but compared to other budget options in Oslo, the breakfast is great value. Super centrally located next to the Royal Castle, the main shopping street and 10 min from Aker Brygge. Trains, trams and buses right outside the hotel. Collapse

The staff here was absolutely delightful. This hotel is well situated to explore lovely Oslo. We walked almost everywhere but the metro is just a block away as well. DO eat at Indi Spice just a down the street. DO visit the Nobel Peace Museum and the Munch Museum, DO stroll along the waterfront. A healthy breakfast at Thon will sustain you through the day and super cozy beds will wait for you at night. Real windows open up for the breeze., so nice. Thank you Yassin and friends! Collapse
