We stayed here for 2 nights during The Beast from the East leaving the day Storm Emma arrived. We arrived around 3.30pm on the Tuesday and had to wait 10-15 minutes on the room which was no problem went up to room 318 and the wind was howling through the closed window, we phoned reception and were moved rooms within minutes to room 416. This room was much better than the 1st room that could have done with a bit of TLC. We had problems with the air conditioning that heats the room which we reported when down for dinner. When we returned to the room the air conditioning was working plus there was a heater in the room which was great with the weather the way it was. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice (only missing baked beans) but i'm being picky. We had dinner in the hotel both nights and again food was good at a reasonable price. Overall staff are helpful and friendly, reception, bars and seating area are all excellent food is good but going by both rooms they could do with decorating soon although they are very clean. First of all the low points of my stay. Hallways are very dated and in need of some serious refurbishment. Carpets are dirty looking, walls could be brighter with some pictures to liven the area up. The room, again carpets stained, marks on walls, bed not properly made, bathroom much the same, bath needs to be replaced. Plenty of stains from years of use. Shower head was covered with timescale. Alot of work needs to be done to bring these areas up to a 4 * standard. Now for the high points of our stay. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very welcoming and friendly receptionist. Triona I think. A very polite young lady. We ate in the restraunt on out first night. The food was unexpected for a 4* establishment. While the food was ok, I think the menu itself needs a bit more imagination. The service was good but not entice me to return. We decided to retire to the bar for some refreshments after dinner. We were delighted that the children were allowed to stay after 9pm. Most hotels have very strict guidelines regarding this. We were greeted by Alan, who at the time was very busy, but went out of his way to find a table for us. He also took our order and delivered to our table. It was a very busy bar with great entertainment provided. Throughout the evening Alan continued to offer drinks service to us and the many other guests at out tables, which alleviated the pressure of the staff at the bar. A wonderful night for our first night. Breakfast the next morning was ok. Most hotels nowadays offer a stop go service. The food was nice but a bit on the cold side. Some of the staff looked very tired but were very friendly. Later that evening we decided to dine in the bar. Again we were greeted by he same gentleman as the night before. He seated us and offered us food and wine menus. We placed our drinks order and it was promptly delivered to the table. We had some dietary requirements and Alan was very helpful in asking your chef to make a change to your menu. Most chefs would not deviate from their menu, especially at busy times. My wife also noted how his attention to detail was second to none, with the manner in which he laid the table to pkacing our drinks and food. The food was outstanding. Not what we were expecting for barfood. Compliments to your chefs. We decided to stay in the bar and enjoy the music. It was a very busy night. Again Alan was on hand supplying drinks to your guests. I have to note how attentive and friendly he was with each guest. He always had time to talk as busy as it was. It was refreshing to see that level of service in such a fast paced environment. 5* service in a 4* hotel. Another member of staff also deserves a mention. The manager Gordon was very attentive also, checking if we were ok as he did with other guests. Very friendly and efficient. Your staff are a credit to you. Overall a wonderful and pleasant stay. Will definitely be returning. Richard Collapse

Good location : close to resturants , shops, marina walk, train. Parking with lots of space. The room was clean and spacious. For a family of 4 we got one double bed and two single beds :) For breakfast there was plenty of choice like pastries, cereals, friuts , hot stuff, whatever you can think of (ok no pancakes or waffles but who cares? :) One downfall was that the bar food in the hotel bar (not sure of the name) wasnt what I would expect for the prices charged but unfotunately hotel bars are somethimes the only option. Wifi working fine for netlix in HD. Collapse
