ROOM. Arrived 11am and room was ready, ground floor apt num 123 near to pool and bar area, room was OK, very roomy but lots of marks on walls and ceiling from the one bad point from our break which will come up later. No Air-Con and beds a little firm but was ok for what we needed. There is a TV with 1 free English Channel BBC news but rarely worked, you can pay a small fee for a few extra channels but we didn't do this. We stayed 7 days 6 nights and room was cleaned and towels and bedding changed 5 times which was great. Room had a fridge too. Room was incredibly hot at night , was told you can hire a fan for small fee but this was ineffective as just blew warm air around. POOL AREA Nice pool area, water was clean and fresh but very inviting, one of the issues is reserving sun beds, despite signs up we had to get up at 730am to put towels on sun beds or you would not get any. Some people putting them out at 5am as was woken by them dragging the beds into position. Some even put towels on them and don't use them till several hours later which is not fair. If you left it till after 8am you would struggle to get any, we found the sun terrace area best as quieter and sun beds much more Comfy, bar area was nice and plenty on offer, San Miguel for all inclusive and several cocktails. POOL is manned by lifeguard from 10am till 6pm. POOL is also suitable for small children. ALL INCLUSIVE Despite some poor reviews food was good, plenty of choice and the food area was very nice, plenty of seats. Breakfast was probably the best and some themed evenings are very well done too. A nice touch was we were allowed an early breakfast on our last morning as we had an early pick up to airport, just ask at reception the night before and they will sort you out. LOCAL AREA Plenty of shops and bars all within a ten minute walk, nice shopping area with variety of gift shops and more exclusive items, massive supermarket with great choice too. There is a lovely coastal path that takes you to the beach and a few other places to eat, we also found a great crazy golf course at the Barcelo hotel which is 6 euros each. We also had a meal at the Indian restaurant on the corner near the apartments, would recommend . STAFF All staff really friendly and helpful, would answer any question and resolve any issues quickly, cannot fault any of them. WIFI there is free wifi which is for 2devices , depending on how far your room is from the reception area the signal varies, up poolside and at the front it's a strong signal. Was strong enough to stream a movie for me so can't complain. MOSQUITOS The only negative from our holiday and not something the hotel can really manage, never seen so many on holiday in October, the marks on the wall in the room looked like a murder scene , they find a way into your room and between us suffered over 30 bites despite spray and wipes from boots, never saw any during the day around the pool but terrible every night, was told by staff this is unusual at this time of year. Overall we had an excellent holiday and would easily return, only ten mins from airport and if your looking for a cheap all inclusive resort with plenty to do I would recommend tahona gardens,go prepared for Mossies. The sunbed situation will annoy many but 7.30am is not too bad , but as for peak season I imagine it's terrible. Collapse

Good points being friendly staff especially the bar staff. Good pool and sun beds if willing to get up early to get a bed! Staff need to enforce their written sunbed policy. Also replace damaged ones. Poor points being tired accommodation and no air con in rooms. Fan available if willing to pay 10 euro! Food in my opinion was very poor for all meals. Hotel need to have less hot food choice and better quality. Collapse

Just got back yesterday from a smashing sunny holiday at La Tahona. The staff were wonderful (Nestar, Montse, Nass, Gregorie, Daniel, Nahanie, Eduardo and the manager to mention a few). The staff, and even the manager sometimes, greeted you when you went to evening meal and often you were offered honey rum or tequila shots on the way in.,The food was varied (plenty of fish and seafood, yum, yum), the rooms cleaned very regularly (too much in my view) and the pool was kept nice (a bit chilly for some, you got to just jump in and swim). The best sunbed positions went quick but there was usually enough sunbeds to go round. At first I thought the entertainment was naff but Nestar the entertainment guy encouraged me to join in with 'killer darts' 'big jenga' 'karaoke' etc and I did start to enjoy myself and eventually become a winner like my hero Magic Mike (or Bingo Mike) who won everything. La Tahona is not far from the shopping centre and the big beach was being partly renovated, but a little further on are some smaller bays and a fab little restaurant on the rocks surrounded by the sea (club sandwich 8e, hamburgher 9e and jug of Sangria 8e if you fancy a snack as its too much hassle to walk back to the hotel for lunch). The Irish bar was good for sports coverage, a few beers and a pizza whilst watching the MotoGP. In my view its a good 3 Star all inclusive, I paid a total of £1347 for two (flights, hotel, transfers, 20kg suitcase) through Icelolly.com with holidaydeals2go.com, you can't knock it (just beat the school holidays), happy days. Week in October ,room very basic, food very good enough choice for everyone. Sunbeds are limited and very hard to find one near the pool but on the Sun deck which we preferred no real problem. What makes the hotel is the attitude of the staff who are hard working and extremely friendly and helpful. This makes all the guests at ease and happy too. Also it's spotlessly clean. Collapse

This is the second time we have visited la tahona gardens. The holiday got off to a rocky start as the hotel emailed to say they couldn't guarantee a ground floor pool view room, despite paying for a pool view and requesting a ground floor with wheelchair access a month previously. The disabled access outside the hotel and resort isn't great either - something the hotel cannot be blamed for but worth knowing if you are a wheelchair user. The rooms are great for what you need, with regular maid service, a safe in the room and a TV if you want to spend your holiday indoors. Food and drinks offering was good, as it was last year. Plenty of choice, from salads to meats and vegetables, really couldn't complain. Staff were also very courteous and respectful with some staff still there from our visit last year. My main concern about the place is the (lack of) entertainment. Previously, Sebastian was in charge of it plus the bar on most days (he was also a lifeguard too, so his presence was always about!) Previously there would be some daytime activities at the pool and shows at night including animal shows and live music. This year it was pretty much bingo at night and limited activities during the day. The entertainer was OK, but last year Sebastian was quite funny, even with contentious issues like the leaving of towels on sunbeds (he'd make you do an egg and spoon race to get them back). Would possibly stay again. Collapse
