I needed this hotel as somewhere to be quiet and get ready for a crucial appointment the following day. When I arrived the lobby was full of people for a wedding party - noisy, inconsiderate etc however once in my room I wasn't aware of them at all. I had a superior room with free wifi - very fast and efficient although you had to login every hour. The bed was super comfy king size with plenty of pillows. They even had a Nespresso machine and a couple of pods in the room. Shower was hot and powerful and with the superior room you good large fluffy towels. Marriott' s are not special hotels and cater for the business traveler however this wont disappoint if using it as a place to stay whilst exploring the Cotswold if you have to stay in Swindon. We went as a group for a 4 night break. Breakfast and dinner included. The rooms were clean with good facilities and the staff were polite and helpful. However looking at the menu we were all horrified at the prices. £8 for a toasted cheese sandwich!!!! Worse still £24 for an ordinary bottle of wine and I was charged £1 for a splash of lemonade, come on Marriott get real. The very worse charge was to dial an 0800 number £2.05 for a freephone number. How fair is that? The service in the dinning room was hit and miss - sometimes there did not seem to be enough staff. Food on the help yourself area was average and items were not re-filled when they ran out. One night the first 20 or so people had a prawn cocktail and the other 30 did not. Free wi fi only if you sign up to Marriott rewards program. Collapse
Fine for short stays and business stays.

Staff at reception are great, the gym is great, the rooms are decent size, the beds are very comfy and pillows fab. The decor is a bit dated in the rooms, but clean and tidy. The food is actually really good if you know the menu, just avoid the currys. The key stuff.... Internet is either very good and can stream movies, or awful. Rarely in between these 2 extremes. They have some sky sports channels in the room, and more at the bar n the big tv. The rooms have huge TVs at the foot of the bed, something like 48" which is too big, as watching at night fills the room with light, and about 10ft away from your head. Air con in the room comes from wall mounted unit, very noisy but works well, heating also good from unit. Some smell bad though, hit or miss dependent on room. Very cold in winter. Think duvets, and big windows. You will need extra blankets, or have the heating on all night (noisy). Rooms are normally quiet, concrete ceilings etc. Most noise comes from room service trays clanging and getting dumped on the floor outside slamming doors. Nice bar, nice restaurant.....no real issues. Room service is expensive. Reception sell pop n crisps and chocolate and convenience items like cables and razors which is good. Only new elevator seems to work at any time, or pain in the neck at peak times, but not the end of the work, it's only 4 floors. Some staff speak very poor English and have no manners, they literally sound like you are inconveniencing them by calling for room service. And they often don't answer the phones for 5 minutes straight ringing. Nice kept grounds, nice garden area with patio, good for summer time. Overall, the comfy bed, decent food and reception staff make this a good 3 star. Collapse

We have just stayed two nights. Very good location within walking distance of the "Old Town" with numerous choices of restaurants on Wood Street and the top of Victoria Hill. We were in a Superior Room and were very happy with it.. Very clean, quality bed linen. Good room lighting. Tea making facilities &, fridge. The only downside was that the air con. was quite noisy when on, which I think is because it is a wall mounted unit rather than built in overhead, as air con. is now placed in newer hotels. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast choice with good quality bacon & sausages. Collapse
Not what you would expect from the Marriott brand.

Staying in room 446 on Sat 12/08/2017 (here now having a complimentary beer after complaining about about the sub standard room quality). Checked in and was asked if I wanted to have breakfast added to my bill/stay,even though it was included in my rate. When I got to my room I noticed cobwebs above the window, biscuit crumbs on the carpet and the sink was blocked up. The gentleman at reception apologised and gave me a free drink. However,I don't feel this is sufficient. This is not what you pay for when you book a Marriott hotel. Collapse
