I decided to meet up with my family as a pre-Christmas get together. We were going to look around Winter Wonderland, but as the weather was dreadful, we thought we would meet up for coffee 'somewhere a bit upmarket, ' so I choose Swansea Marriott. Big mistake. To begin with, I was disgusted we had to pay to use the car park. Nice money grabber. On entering the lobby, it was quite soulless - and did not feel very Christmassy. I complained to the Receptionist about having to pay the car park fee & she just weakly apologised. I was amazed how small the bar room area is - we did not want a meal, just coffee. The man behind the bar looked miserable and was abrupt with my Niece. The only available table was near a TV screen, which thankfully, the volume was turned down, as there was a lot of chatter in the small area. In my party were two small children aged 7 and 2. Not long after we ordered our drinks, someone who is best decribed 'an ageing gangster' and his equally ageing moll decided to sit right in front of the TV, which had football on. The Children in our party were a bit excited, to which this couple were not impressed. To this, they asked the TV voume to be turned Up, Up & UP again. They were trying to drown out any noise. It was so loud & intrusive - I thought it very weird to be honest, but the Staff seemed overwhelmngly eager to pander to them. I had to ask the barman to turn it down as it was too loud & it was bringing on a migraine. I noticed after this couple arrived, all the other customers left, so it was only us and them. The whole thing was surreal - we felt uncomfortable as this other couple turned up after us and wanted to command the place to themselves. I felt awkward if the two year old played up as the atmosphere could be cut with a knife. I did not appreciate the dirty looks this piece kept shooting in our direction. Heaven help if we disturbed the old man's football. Oh no, can't be having that! I would like to point out to Swansea Marriott WE WERE PAYING CUSTOMERS TOO! So Marriott - next year our money will be spent in Morgans - I wish we had gone there instead. Swansea Marriott did not come over as family friendly and we will definately NOT be visiting again ! Attended the Marriott for a mixed group Christmas function. What a dissapointment. The table service was pathetic. The food was very dissapointing, quality was poor and the meal looked as if it had been slapped onto the plate. The gravy was like cold water. The soup was served cold. The waiting staff, although supervised, just couldn't cope. The desserts were bland and tasteless. Bar prices were way over the top. Very disappointing experience overall, expected a lot better from the 'Marriott' brand. I would suggest that they send the chef up to the Towers Hotel in Jersey Marine to sample their Christmas Function roast turkey dinner and deserts....faultless, as near to perfect as you could expect, excellent presentation and rich 'home made' flavours for half the price! Ideal location for mixing business with leisure. Fine views of Swansea Bay from west-facing rooms makes it a great choice (although on cool nights window condensation becomes a problem); well placed for short walk into city centre and shopping quarter, via new marina. Situated right on the promenade with easy access to glorious stretch of good walking-beach (at low tide); easy drive in from M4, and simple drive out to Mumbles along bay road. Fairly small and intimate for a Marriott, but dining is fine, lunch and breakfast. Collapse
I would recommend this hotel.

The pool was good, just the right temperature, and the facility was made better by separating the mothers and babies group into one half of the pool so that the serious swimmers could train in the other half. Well done. The gym was far too small although the equipment was quite good. A separate facility should be seriously thought about in any future development. Collapse

Stayed here a few times on recent business trips to Swansea. Having stayed at many other Marriott hotels in the past this one was a bit of a let down. Rooms are basic and the bathrooms need refurbishment, there is no executive lounge, breakfast variety and quality was poor and the gym was of a very low standard with hardly any equipment. Most of the staff were pleasant and friendly. Plenty of parking available onsite which was good. I would stay at this hotel again because it is still better than other nearby hotels which I have also experienced. Collapse
