I came back this hotel for weeks after a year. Now I was even a day ahead to get a good apartment as a RCI client - as I was advised also by the management - so please be early there to get a sea view room. As last year - the front desk is the one that kills your possible good feeling when starting your staying. Nobody wishes you welcome, no smile, no greetings for a nice holiday, no presentation about the hotel and the services - even robots in the front desk could be more kind for the visitors. There are too few people also to serve clients - so probably that is why they try to pass you as fast as possible. The hotel itself is clean, there is a lot of services, large pool area and evening programs running - so if you able to get in there the life turns better. Be careful also when getting the room - the internal ones are awful - at least outside summer period, because no light is coming, the rooms towards mountain do not get any sunshine and the rooms towards sea, but not on the pool side, get only a short period of sunshine early in the morning. The rooms towards the pool are the only ones that are good for the whole day, but those might be too hot in the summer. There are a lot of unlimited parking area just a 100 meters after the hotel (towards Fuengirola) on the opposite site of the hotel, so don't pay for the hotel for their dark and tight parking garage. Second Visit Even Better Than The First

We stayed for a second time at Sunset Beach Club, Nov. 7th to 21st, 2017. Upgraded to a Deluxe Junior Suite, fourth floor, overlooking the pools and the Med. Totally worth it. We loved the suite, with king size bed, kitchen and dining set, sofa (sofa-bed), big-screen TV, glassed walk-in shower, clothes drying rack, and very large terrace with table and chairs. We requested mattress toppers, and slept really well. During this visit, we tried lunch and supper in the hotel, and enjoyed the food. The lunch salads were delicious; I would recommend the tuna salad, and the chicken Caesar, and also the homemade soup, and fresh juice. The small store inside the hotel stocks daily delicious croissants and other decadent pastries, for a quick breakfast or snack. We used the laundry facilities on the 2nd floor (go at night, when it's not busy). We enjoyed swimming in the warm pool, which was blanketed at night, and there were plenty of lounge chairs with umbrellas poolside. We shopped for groceries nearby, and bought ourselves a re-loadable bus pass from Estanco Gomez, which is a tobacco shop down the big boulevard, a few shops past the McDonalds. The bus pass saves you money, and makes it easy to hop on without fumbling for euros or making the driver count out change. For those of us "reformed smokers" who use e-cigarettes (vaping), Estanco Gomez has a modest selection of liquids and atomizers, if you need supplies. There's a bus stop just up the hill from the hotel, and the #110 will take you to the Marina, and Torremolinos. The #120 will take you to Malaga, and the #103 goes up the hill, to the Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmadena Pueblo neighbourhoods. There's another bus to take you to Fuengirola, but the number escapes me at the moment. Anyway...take the bus!! It's inexpensive, efficient, safe, and easy. We returned to some of our favourite restaurants, like Amici, and Way Kiki, and found some new ones, which I'll review later. The hotel is undergoing some renovations, to rebuild the indoor pool (yay!); so expect some construction noise during the day, for the next little while. It'll be worth it! Also, there were a couple of conventions taking place during our stay, with golfers, and a group of Swing/Rockabilly dancers. This made for very lively musical entertainment during cocktail hour. We didn't mind, as it was fun to meet, see and hear different groups of people enjoying their favourite music; but it may have bothered some guests who were expecting peace and quiet. I like the fact that the hotel is always working to improve guest services. The weather was unexpectedly beautiful for November - sunny and 20c every day, and as return guests, we were treated with courteous consideration. The front desk staff are pleasant and accommodating; the housekeeping staff are discreet, and do a great job. We would certainly continue to recommend this hotel to any first-timers to Benalmadena, and we hope to return next year. Collapse

This should have been a lovely stay, perfect weather for relaxing in the sun, but our first 4 days were ruined by excessively loud music from mid morning till 6 o'clock. We had to leave all day because of the music event, there was no getting away from it as it was held in the area by the pool. Whether my complaint was passed on to the manager I doubt as I heard nothing back. Be sure to check before booking. Otherwise a nice enough hotel, handy shop on-site but big supermarket 5mins away and much cheaper. Good choice of items at breakfast at breakfast except for eggs -fried or nothing. Got very 'samey'. A hotel that tries very hard to go out of its way to help you.

We decided at the last minute to seek a bit of late winter sun, having checked out the weather forecasts we decided to go back to Benalmadena and found a package with Jet2 Holidays which took us to the Sunset Beach Club for the first time. Having looked at the hotel's own website we found they had a greater variety of rooms and decided on an upgrade. We were given all the help we needed and everything was in place for our arrival. We found the hotel to be comfortable and found the staff very helpful. We did avail ourselves of the happy hour but decided to give them a miss given the state of a number of the guests who had clearly had too much to drink. We tried the Oasis Restaurant on our first night, unfortunately my wife who is alergic to prawns had a minor alegic reaction to a pizza which should not have been anywhere near a prawn. A takeaway from the same restaurant later in the week was very tasty with no further reaction. We would go back but would most definately give the Happy Hour a miss. Collapse

We visited to attend a music event within the hotel and this made the venue rather lively, something you might wish to consider if looking for a quiet holiday and check beforehand as it dominated the hotel ambience. Having stayed in a Junior Suite the previous year we opted for a View Room, not being too bothered about a sea view but in retrospect not a good decision because in Autumn / Winter you get no direct sun at all on the balcony. No upgrades were possible due to high occupancy. We found this level of room not to our liking, twin beds with poor mattresses and a TV which switched itself on (loud) at 2am, corridor noise and the morning stench of bacon in the corridors are off putting. There's a supermarket onsite which is an absolute ripoff, prices are way above normal and with an alternative just behind the petrol station and another 'good one' a short walk up the main road (left on exit) there's no reason to buy in the hotel shop. Nor eat, great restaurants right next door and a gourmet burger bar over the road next to Burger King. Were the room prices lower off-season for a sea view room I'd be tempted to return, however at the rate and if it were not for the music festival this hotel becomes a secondary choice. Collapse
