The apartments are very well appointed. Staff are very friendly. Views are lovely. Breakfasts are good. However, we were surprised to find how far out of Dubrovnik the hotel is. There is a shuttle bus service twice a day, or else you have a £60 return taxi fare to Dubrovnik. This makes casual sightseeing difficult. Additionally, the hotel facilities are not all open at this time of year. For instance, only one pasta restaurant is open, so you have to use that every night. There is nowhere else around. This might be good as a R and R hotel in warmer weather. Wouldn't recommend if you are interested in sightseeing as it's too far out of town. Collapse

Arrived 3 days ago with a family of 4 for 1 week of Easter holidays. We had booked an apartment on complex with sea views. First the positive ..the accommodation is excellent. The apartment is extremely well appointed and I don't think you will be disappointed with the rooms. The view from windows of the Adriatic are breathtaking. Spa is beautiful and the indoor swimming pool is great for kids this time. of year (only 1 outdoor pool open at moment and I can confirm the water is 'Baltic!' ) To the 'negatives' ...the suprising lack of any facilities to even purchase milk water bread etc. We arrived 10pm to the apartment. I didn't expect to be able to get much that night...but was very suprised to be told the next morning that no shop would be open during our stay. As a major part of this hotel is the self-catering apartments; obviously this relies on being able to stock up on essentials. This would be no problem if the hotel was in central Dubrovnik. ..but this is 20k out. I checked our original booking and nowhere is this made clear (if it had...I would have arranged to hire a car...or book alternative accommodation ). Further it appears this might be a new decision to save money. Earlier reviews on TripAdvisor from 2014 and 2015 make it clear people are able to use shop on site this time of year. I have spent 30 euros today on taxis to get bread /water etc. I do note that the name of resort seems to have changed from Radisson blu (on our booking last year) to 'sun gardens' (no mention of Radison. ...perhaps this explains the change. Lovely hotel on the water. Pros: super clean, great spa, comfortable bright rooms, good service. Cons: 20 minutes minimum ride to town, half the facility is closed in the off season. Cleanest hotel I've ever stayed at.

We travelled to Dubrovnik for a week at the very start of April with the knowledge that the season had only just begun and were fully expecting that not everything would be open. I had done my research in advance and looked at the website where it clearly states what months all of the restaurants would be open. We were also expecting the weather to not be that great and one of the reasons we chose this property as it also has an indoor pool. I had also hired a car so we could get to the local supermarket to stock up on provisions. I am happy to say that everything panned out just beautifully!!! We travelled as a party of four - two adults and two children aged 7 and 4. On arrival at the hotel we were over the moon to be given an upgrade to a deluxe sea view villa (having booked a two bedroom garden view). It was HUGE. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms plus an extra toilet, a really decent kitchenette with large fridge, two hob rings, dishwasher, toaster and kettle, comfy seating area, dining area, desk / study area and an enormous terrace with four loungers, a sofa and table and chairs for outdoor dining. Housekeeping was fantastic and the free Wifi was high speed and reliable. The accommodation was nothing short of perfect for a family travelling together - something that is so hard to find in continental Europe without needing a second mortgage to pay for it. The resort itself is built into the side of the cliffs so, like most of the surrounding area, there are a lot of steps. It meant that my fruit branded activity tracker was very happy, but could pose problems to those with limited mobility or a baby stroller. There are ramps and pathways but some of them go in a huge loop. If the stairs would give you an issue then specifically mention this AT THE TIME OF BOOKING. There are residences with no stair access but the hotel are not mind readers so make them aware and get the accommodation that suits you - don't wait until you get there!! There was only one restaurant / bar open for the first few days, but as the week progressed, La Pasta (Italian) and one of the pool bars opened. All of the food we ate in the hotel was of a fantastic quality, and the same can be said for everywhere we ate in Croatia. If you are travelling with children then be aware that a lot of places do not have separate children's menus. Ours usually just shared an adult dish between them. It was actually rather refreshing and my kids ate extremely well all holiday and chips were few and far between! Only one large pool and the kids outdoor pool were open and they were freezing, but when we arrived they were only just finishing filling them so to be expected. All other outdoor pools were empty and were having maintenance work and the beach was closed whilst they were rebuilding the defences. Until the season opens properly (and the weather gets hot), children are allowed to use the indoor pool in the spa until 5pm each day. This rule was strictly enforced, so book your massage for later in the day if you don't want children around. I felt this also took into account the needs of all their guests at the time and was a very fair policy. The spa itself is huge and the aromatherapy massage I had one evening was fantastic. Prices are on a par with what you would expect to pay at a spa in a five star hotel. The sports centre had some great facilities - gym, tennis courts, squash court, climbing wall, pool tables and multi-use court with basketball hoops. There is a bar also in there with TVs that show the football (much to my husband's delight). There was also a play room for the children but this looked more like a temporary set up until the kids club opens later in the year. The Dubrovnik Old Town shuttle bus is no longer complimentary as mentioned in some reviews but offers a very reasonably priced service with drop off and pick up just outside the city walls. I would say that because of this it's not the best hotel to stay at if your only intention is to visit the City. If you want to spend a week getting some R&R in, visiting other places with a hire car or organised tour, as well as spending a couple of days in the Old Town then it's perfect. I would like to take time to give a special mention to Enisa who is head concierge at the hotel - she is totally in the right job. Her customer service was second to none and genuinely takes an interest in making sure you have a good time. To summarise, if you want a fabulous off season break and are prepared to accept that not all the facilities will be open then I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Grab a hire car (the roads were extremely quiet) and enjoy this beautiful part of the world without the crowds and take advantage of the cheap room rates. Collapse
