My husband & I have just returned from a 2 night midweek break at the Cabanas To start off with ,checking in was extremely slow with a queue of 5 people ahead of us & only 2 ladies to assist Room was acceptable except for the hair dryer which had such a short cable I couldn’t even stand up straight to dry my hair The last straw was the food served at the pool area .I ordered hake & chips, the first piece was still frozen in the middle & the second served was burnt as you can see from the photo provided The Manager didn’t seem too concerned that I’d just paid R230 for a meal that we weren’t able to eat after 2 attempts We eventually just got up & walked away Collapse

Have always stayed at Main Hotel or Cascades where rooms are really spacious. The Cabana rooms are really small. Booked 2 family rooms, they were more like standard rooms. The aircon was extremely noisy, couldn't sleep with it on and it was blistering hot the entire weekend. The breakfast was good though with an excellent variety. The revamp of Sun City otherwise is quite refreshing. Lovely restaurants at the main hotel and the food court at the entertainment center. The Valley of waves was extremely busy with day visitors on the Saturday. Spent most of our time at the lake. Will go back after a while. Collapse
Reasonably priced accommodation.

We stayed for 4 nights with family. My wife and I would normally stay in more expensive rooms. Our room was adequate but as there were no windows it was necessary to have the aircon on at night. Breakfasts were very good self service with ample coffee served. The pool and surrounds were spacious with ample beds and shades. The nearby bar served light lunches. In the evenings there was no bar or restaurant at the cabanas so we went to the casino area for the evening meal. Played golf on The Lost City course as the Gary Player was closed preparing for the nedbank. Suited me as we had a cart which you can’t have on the Gary Player. Spent a great morning at the Lost City wave beach. Collapse

We had four days in Sun City, sleeping in the Cabanas. This was the cheapest option in Sun City. Breakfasts were truly excellent, with god service, coffee constantly being replaced, tables cleared quickly and so on. For lunch you have the option of eating in the snackbar by the swimming pool: the pizzas are freshly cooked to order. Though I do wonder about the hygiene as we saw a pile of uncooked meat just lying on the counter within the kitchen area, and it was still there 20 minutes later. Other food options are available elsewhere in the resort, to which you could walk or there was generally a coach/bus service around. Some of the guests were very rowdy around the pool, with blaring transistors, so weekends could be an issue if you want it a bit quieter. My keycard failed five times, despite the visits of security and a locksmith to try to sort it out. I asked for a room change after the fourth keycard failure but this was not possible. The room was tiny but absolutely adequate with sufficient storage for two suitcases and hanging and cupboard space, with plenty of room in the bathroom. Great shower. Collapse

Sun City Cabanas is a great place to stay. It is well worth the price you pay, as almost all attractions at Sun City is freely accessible to people staying in the Sun City Hotels (No Extra Costs) Me and my wife went there for a long weekend and enjoyed it very much. The breakfast they serve is at the Cabanas Hotel is very nice and there is a variety to choose from. Make sure you get up early for breakfast as kids tend to get their fingers in all the food and sometimes putting eaten food back, but most of the younger children tend to arrive a bit later. The rooms are very nice and even though it's small and without any windows you're not there to stay in your room all day so it is well equipped for its purpose. The only problem we had is we should organized for a room with a double bed as the two twin beds are very uncomfortable. The rooms are cleaned everyday so you'll always get a refreshed feeling when coming back after a days excitement, with that in mind the rooms are equipped with a small safe so make sure you put your most valuables in it for safety even though I would not say any personnel would steel anything I'll just recommend you do it for the people passing your room while its being cleaned (you never know what type of people may be there especially if its someone who just lost everything at the casino). There are buses that is driving between all the Hotels and attractions for your convenience so the only place where you'll need your own vehicle is getting to a parking spot at the Hotel. You don't even have to unload your luggage there are personnel who do that for you and who will take your bags to your room for you. Again bare in mind there are other people who may have long fingers so for security reason I'll recommend stay with your luggage even when staff is taking it to your room. All the attractions are very close by. The water activities are at the Cabanas Hotel. The casino is just next door and short walk away. there's an animal world at the Cabanas Hotel where children and those still young at heart can hold chicks, parrots, etc. There's also a put put course if you want to do something relaxing and the golf course just behind the SOHO Hotel which is next door to the Cabanas Hotel, not even a stone throw away. The Sun Center is a bit further away but it is still in walking distance. You'll find a variety of restaurants, clothing shops, pharmacies and entertainment at the Sun Center. I'll recommend the Cabanas Hotel for anyone who would love to experience Sun City but do not have enough money to afford the Sun City Palace rooms. Collapse
