Visited for afternoon tea to celebrate a friends birthday with her mum. Can’t fault anything. The food and drinks were lovely and tasty, the staff in the conservatory area were really friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was fab. It was really Christmassy and everywhere you looked there were decorations. There were amazing views from the conservatory. The staff were really accommodating and helped us to customise the tea to what everyone wanted. They couldn’t do enough to help especially as one of the party is elderly and partially sighted. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel and the afternoon tea. They even have a “gentleman’s tea” for someone who doesn’t want all of the sweet food in an afternoon tea. We’ll be back soon! Collapse

We came down to the Stradey Park for a long weekend break. We found all staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, Vanessa on Reception was a star and Joshua and Dillon in the main bar made us very welcome. The hotel was clean, well decorated and presented well on arrival. We had a Spa room, which was clean and well appointed, with a lovely huge, comfy bed. The only thing I would say is that you enter this area of the hotel via a door, which states they are Spa rooms and that it is a quiet area, however the floor was wooden and therefore it was impossible to move about quietly and seems it would have been far more sensible to have had carpet as in all the other corridors. One very good thing was that at either end of the corridors there was an iron and ironing board hung on the wall, which I thought was a very handy thing especially if you were coming to a special function and maybe your smart clothes had got a bit creased in the case. Parking is on two levels, the upper level has room for maybe 15 cars but if you park on the lower level there are loads more spaces but then you are faced with a hike up some steep stairs as hotel is elevated above the main road. We arrived on a Thursday and had no problem parking on the upper level, but due to a large wedding on the weekend, we had to park on the lower level for the remainder of our stay. So if you have mobility problems the answer would be to get dropped off on the top level and then for the driver to go and park. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and looked absolutely lovely. We had breakfast in the Conservatory on our first morning and enjoyed lovely views of the coast in lovely sunshine. Breakfast was excellent, wide choice on the hot buffet, scrambled and poached eggs, no fried eggs, but this was no problem at all and it was all very tasty. I also discovered the joy that is welsh marmalade with honey! Staff in the dining room were all very friendly too and happy to give us advice on places to go and visit. Breakfast on the Saturday was held in a larger room due to the wedding guests but still a nice room. We didn't eat in the Restaurant at night, we chose to go to the local pub, Stradey Arms, which is a two minute walk away and which I have reviewed separately. Having a Spa room gave us free use of the spa facilities, being a hot tub and sauna. I think there maybe a time limit of 90 mins a day but we never quite found out how it all worked, but we did use them on one day and they were very good. There is a lovely Conservatory down there where you can sit and have drinks and afternoon tea if you wanted to. I booked in for a massage, and the facilities were modern and very relaxing and Sophie did a great job, tailoring to my specific joint problems. As I said before there was a big wedding on whilst we were there and although we had no problems with the anti social behaviour of any of the guests, that others seem to have experienced in previous reviews, I do agree in that you are completely overwhelmed by the number of guests, as although they seem to have their own function room, they overtook the Bar and that is why we chose to go out of the hotel in the evening. The Main Restaurant was not effected but there was no way of sitting in the Main bar. Having said this it did not spoil our stay in any way. We had a lovely few days here and would definitely return in the future. Collapse

Visited for Afternoon Tea, the location with sea views were lovely, the hotel looked amazing with all the Christmas decorations. We were shown into the conservatory and the staff and the service received were excellent that however is where things started to go down hill.... The tea arrived on the usual cake stand, the sandwich’s were poor with little filling, I’m not sure what the smoke salmon was wrapped in but it was inedible. Then the scones were over cooked, dry and tasteless, the other cakes served up were also disappointing... such a pity. Collapse

I chose this hotel to take my wife for a relaxing time in wales before a large operation so we could have time together to relax and when we were there we had to deal with: (1) Weddings - every weekend the hotel hosts one drunken wedding after another. During these weddings we we were unable to use the bar or restaurant that evening as the hotel was extremely full of noisy wedding guests getting more and more drunk who acted as they had booked the hotel and nobody else had a right to be there. (2) Parking - wife is in a wheelchair so parking in the one and only disabled bay is a must, and when i booked the room months in advance i also reserved the space. However when we got there the brides farther had asked for the space since he was paying for the wedding and the hotel gave it to him. (3) abuse - we finally parked in one of the bays near the entrance to make it easier next day to get the wheelchair to the car, when someone left to get something. later that evening when the wife went out to have a quick smoke she and i tried to fight my way to the bar for a drink for her she was given a torrid of verbal abuse by the brides farther and has male entourage about us using the parking bays when they had booked the hotel for the wedding. very unpleasant and threatening experience (4) Partying all night - we got up at 3 am one night to complain and had to step over 3 passed out bridesmaids near the reception desk and a group of drunk guys who had taken over the main entrance. reception didnt care and the noise went on till gone 4 am with some make party-goers banging and shouting at room doors until then. So we basically were prisoners in our room every evening on Friday, Saturday and Sunday using room service. As a side minor item the decor is tired and the paper was coming off the walls in reception Complaining about the above - we made a couple of complaints about the above whilst there. The staff during our stay basically said to us its not their problem and they can't control the guests. as for the spaces the wedding has booked the hotel so we gave them all the main spaces inc the disabled bays. When we left I made one final complaint to the duty manager as we left all i got was a monotone response of "sorry to hear you didnt enjoy your stay", here's you bill how would you like to pay. I would never ever stay here again. Collapse
