Anniversary Get a Way included plans to tour local attractions all day before our dinner reservations at Tony's of Lexington ( A+) . I did call and alert the hotel we were arriving very early but would totally understand room not being available. Showed up around 8 to maybe Pre check in as Platinum Elite members. Desk clerk was already busy , invited us to have breakfast while she checked. We grabbed a quick bite as we had to get to Keeneland Farms for 8:30 1st tour at ( another A +) and were told Room should be ready when we returned. Loved the tour and lingered , returning appx 10:30. Soon after Is when I heard " just a little longer " for almost 2 hours. This caused us to miss the eagerly anticipated Mary Todd Lincoln tour. I had our luggage in the comfortable lobby / dining area , ( they did offer to store it but given the ' just a little longer ' I opted to just keep it with me. ) and was eager to check in a freshen up a bit. The Asst Mgr must have noticed this and that I was pacing back and forth and stepped up. When he heard of my plight , I told him the desk clerk had apologized again just a moment ago and assured me it would just be a few minutes more. Asst. GM sprung into action and returned shortly and got us checked in. Nice touch of a basket of grapes and a bottle plus a very nice note in the very clean and comfy one bedroom suite. He also invited us to have complimentary wine or beer at the evening social as further apology. Great PR and I appreciated his takin charge. Staff worked hard - all appeared clean and well maintained throughout the facility. Would've preferred a King Bed but my wife and I still enjoy cuddling so that was not a big issue. Shower Pressure and water temp both nice for my aching bones and joints after the other tours ( Both great --- Henry Clay Estate and the short tour of the newer and small Bluegrass Distillery ) . After a quick yummy sampling of the taco bar and a drink it was off to a great dinner. Comfy restful sleep , good breakfast in the morning and just chilling a bit before checking out. ( Too worn out and too long a drive home to try and take in the Mary Todd Lincoln tour) So , other than the checkin holdup ,we both had a pleasant stay and would definitely consider it again ( I totally get we arrived early but surely had no problem checking in later had I just been properly informed instead of getting frustrated by waiting and waiting ) Recommended. You will find this property in good shape as I was told it has only been open two years. Hopefully as people return they will find it has been well maintained. If you are there on the weekend and want light housekeeping be sure to tell the front desk when you check in. As at all Staybridge Suites you will not find an overhang and if it is raining you will get wet loading and unloading. Not sure who would think this was a good situation. Also all Staybridge Suites do not have a door in the sink area which means you wake each other up if you have different times retiring or getting up. The laundry room was in good shape. The exercise room is large and worked for me. Had a couple of housekeeping issues but put that on my card in the room. Our room did not have a bath so if you want one better ask about that. I did not realize until this morning the light under microwave is on the microwave. Had it on all night. There are several restaurants within walking distance. Our favorite is the Mexican restaurant... great food there. Also a nail place if you need it. Only two carts so please people bring back those carts! Internet was good. Staff for the most part were friendly and helpful. Was hoping for mixed fresh fruit this morning but only grapes. Hope to return when in the area again. Collapse

After a long day of driving we checked in about 9:30 or so and just wanted to get to sleep. When we got to the room we thought we may have been given the wrong key cards; there was a glass of water with melting ice on top of the desk, coffee rings on the counters, a broom in the corner of the living room, debris on the carpet and the bar stools and coffee table were askew. I called the front desk and was told that housekeeping had just finished cleaning the room and that they would stop by. The woman from housekeeping took ownership of the glass of water but that's about it. She claimed to have vacuumed, cleaned etc., took her broom and left. I called the front desk to ask for another room because we were not comfortable with the level of cleanliness...but they were booked solid. I asked if I could have a vacuum and I do appreciate that Eric from the front desk brought one up and vacuumed while I wiped down surfaces. While cleaning I also discovered a half eaten bag of chips, a bunch of clothing tags, several envelopes full of paperwork and a bunch of key cards under paper plates and bowls in the cabinets. I also touched someone's hair clip that was clamped around the bedroom lamp while I was trying to switch it on. All of this properties poor and terrible reviews are recent and all are because of housekeeping issues. Should have read the reviews here before booking! (I did try to speak to a manager before leaving but the only person at the desk was tied up with someone else. I also completed the survey I was emailed and received an emailed apology for my experience from someone at the hotel.) Collapse

The only drawback for me, was the disconnect between the online reservations and the hotel....unless I got B.S. at the front desk. I asked for a top floor using the online reservations, and was told by front desk attendant that there was no note in the system and of course.....they were sold out so they couldn't accomodate. My review and rating are not based upon the property as such. I traveled in late April 2017, with three colleagues, for work related to the Kentucky 3-Day Event (Equestrian). The hotel itself was perfectly fine, the location good, the breakfast adequate; all-in-all pretty much as expected. The problems, and the reason for my rating, arose after check-out. We had pre-paid room and taxes for our stay in advance (almost $3400 in total, for three rooms x 7 nights). Although check-out itself was pretty confusing, I left with an assurance that the prepayment would be fully reconciled into the final account. Suffice to say, we were surprised to learn that almost $2000 in further charges had been made by the hotel to our personal credit cards - given the prepayment, the cards were only supposed to cover incidental expenses which, given that the hotel has neither a restaurant or a bar, were never likely to be high. On raising questions with the hotel in the subsequent weeks, not a single recognition of our query has ever been received by us. Even an attempt to contact the manager by phone simply ended up in talking to a voicemail machine - unsurprisingly there has been no response. Not one of my emails has been answered. Whilst mistakes are forgivable - we all make them - this appalling level of customer service is not. Subsequently, some of the charges have been reversed (completely without explanation) but newer, lower charges have appeared in their place. We are still absolutely none the wiser regarding what these charges relate to, as we did not use any services other than those for which we had pre-paid. I have today sent another email asking for a detailed breakdown but, frankly, I'm not holding my breath... We remain several hundred dollars 'out of pocket'. I am lucky to be a business traveller - I would be even less happy if this was my personal money. This may be an isolated instance but, in my view, the lack of customer care here is nothing short of breathtaking and I shall certainly not be using this hotel group again. You have no recourse via IHG (the owner of the Staybridge brand) either - they simply refer you back to the individual property (presumably a franchise). Avoid! Collapse
