Stayed in this Hotel last week for one night. This was my first time in this Hotel. I found the front desk staff when checking in was so friendly and a smile in their faces especially their manager Geraldine and the rest of the staff were so nice as well Claire,Bambi. Bride and Pat at the bar. I was travelling from Dublin on CIE Express to Letterkenny which took 8 hours due to a road accident. Needless to say when I arrived at reception to check in I was exhausted . I explained my delayed to Geraldine and she offered me and my friend Brendan a free cup of tea ,coffee and biscuits which I taught was such a lovely treat. My bedroom was large and comfortable and the following morning I had breakfast which was fabulous and again I found the floor staff were friendly and helpful. I had a late check out complements to Geraldine. I was very impressed with this Hotel and the way the staff treated me especially Geraldine I have no hesitation of coming back here soon. I am a tour guide and promoter and for sure I will be recommending my clients to stay here. Thank you Geraldine and your friendly staff for your kind hospitality. Collapse

On arrival at the hotel we had been travelling since 4am so we were exhausted. We were given our key just after 3pm. First floor, up in the lift straight to bed. Slept through until late evening , my husband ordered room service, the phone in the room had not been cleaned, it had makeup on the handset from the previous occupants of the room. The food arrived promptly and because we were famished it was eaten but was only ok. When I went into the bathroom I was shocked to see the state it was in. The mirrors and sink area were soiled, from the previous occupants of the room. The shower floor was covered in black grime on the tiles. There is a thick yellow sellotape on the floor in the doorway into the bathroom that is lifting up from the floor. Cheap and tacky looking. The "wood effect floor" in the bedroom has a gap just inside the main room door. The noise from traffic outside is horrendous and goes on all night long. The following morning I approached the reception and asked that the cleaning staff might just note the issues above and perhaps pay a little more attention , I stated I didn't want to make a fuss but I'd like it sorted. Went out and about for the day. Arrived back to the room in the late afternoon , the room had been serviced, but it was left in the same unhygienic state as the previous day. I called reception on the soiled phone and explained that I was not happy. A manager came to our room promptly I showed her the problems and on inspection told me that it was unlike the cleaning staff to leave a room soiled like this. She was going to speak to them! She offered us a meal and wine in the restaurant. We didn't want a meal, wine or any goodwill gestures. We only wanted to be able to enjoy our break in a clean room, without any hassle, without having to complain. Surely a clean room is a basic standard one could expect in any hotel? I've stayed in hotels all over the world from basic to five star. When you pay for a room in your chosen hotel be it posh five star or basic three star you expect it to be cleaned and all traces of the last occupants make up etc to be washed away! Collapse

I have stayed at the Station House a few times now, both with friends and family for different occasions, and every time we have had a wonderful experience. The rooms are always well serviced, clean, tidy and with all the amenities you would expect from a well run hotel. The staff are faultless, the reception staff are always patient and helpful, the bar and waiting staff are always on the ball, very vigilant, always available to take a food order, and the same with drinks at the bar. The drinks themselves are very reasonably priced and compare well with any of the bars and other establishments in Letterkenny, their Guinness is faultless, there seems to be some sort of live music every other day in the hotel, and at weekends there will be some traditional Irish music played and some dancing by patrons and others from the local area who attend many of the music nights. The location is also great for those who want to head out into the stunning Donegal countryside during the days, with the hotel situated close to the bottom of the town and the roads out into the Hills of Donegal. After returning a few days ago I thought I should make the effort to give the Station House a review and share this great place with other travellers. Special mention must go to the staff. The staff team has many familiar faces so even though I've been coming regularly over the past 6 years I still see many staff that were there on my first visit, I think this itself says a great deal about the place and The Management, not only is it run well for the customer, it also works well for the staff, who work hard and always treat customers with respect and with genuine quality service. Thanks a million, see yous again next year Collapse
