We stayed here for 8 nights. First things first: I think traveler experiences here vary based on the room, so this review is for room 101 (which is on the second floor by US floor numbers). Our wifi was great. We booked a triple, which turned out to be a queen bed and a single fold out bed. They were fine. And we were impressed with the amount of space-it was adequate for three suitcases on the floor, (two of them open all the time--kids). There was a small closet with hangers, a safe we couldn't get to work, (but to be fair, we did not ask for help), cube-shaped side tables with large drawers, a small elevated desk with a simple tall chair. The main bed had hanging lamps on each side. Not the best for reading, but convenient. The shower was great-good water pressure and heat, with both handheld and overhead shower heads. No shower door, so don't put clothes or bath mat next to it; we ended up placing bath mat on the step down to keep it dry. The hotel provided shampoo and body wash (one product), small bar soaps, and lotion; towels and hand towels, no wash clothes (that is typical in Europe), so bring one or-my preference-a shower sponge. No hair conditioner provided. They restocked on occasion so we always had enough. The toilet was in a small separate room. While not so convenient for washing hands, it was great that one could be in the shower and the toilet was still available. There were three complimentary water bottles on our first day. We received a couple more throughout our stay but we also refilled them with the tap water--save some plastic waste. And three plastic cups. There was a full length mirror in the room. There were plenty of outlets. The one drawback was the lack of a coffee pot or hot water kettle in the room. I didn't ask about it, so one might be available. Housekeeping was fine. A little late on one day, but hotel staff were very attentive to wanting to have our room straightened (they called us in the late afternoon and asked if they could clean the room). Breakfast is available in the hotel too, but we never tried it, preferring to visit neighboring cafes. The front desk was very accommodating and all spoke English well enough to help us with any needs. We had windows on rue des Taillandiers, the side street on which the hotel entrance is located. It's not the main road, so while our room was not "quiet", it was fine. And the windows open, which was nice for fresh air. About the area: it's perfect. Rue de la Roquette, the cross street, is filled with cafes, and shops. There are two Monoprixes and a Franprix with a few blocks. There's a very active nightlife/bar scene on the street, but it was all in good fun--we were never pestered. The bastille and a metro stop are within a few blocks. The Marais is in easy walking distance, as is Pere Lachaise cemetery and countless other sites. It is on bus route #69, the one many recommend as a great route for a cheap "tour" of Paris (we didn't try it). And, finally, we booked very late, and this hotel was very affordable for a great location in Paris. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Collapse
Great stay - would recommend!

Everything at the hotel was great. However, the breakfast could have been better. We got a special deal that included free breakfast when we booked. I would not have paid for the breakfast provided. There just wasn't a lot of variety. Other than that, we had a wonderful experience staying here. The hotel is in a really vibrant, cool, interesting area, and there's a great bar/pub right next door with delicious food. We also had a room in the back of the hotel, which I think helped make our room quieter. If you want that, you should request a room in the back. The location is good, but you do need to take the metro to get to most attractions. That being said, the Paris metro is very user-friendly. I would definitely stay here again! It was a good value and overall a great experience. Collapse

Stayed two nights, for our first trip to Paris. The Bastille neighborhood is full of good food/drink options, has a cool Sunday market and is very accessible to public transport. As far as the hotel itself is concerned you can't beat the price. The staff were friendly and willing to answer questions and we were also able to store our luggage after before our check in/ after we checked out. The room is clean and decent size for a European budget hotel. The bed was comfortable, fixtures all worked well, and the decor was passable. Only complaint was there's no soundproofing to speak of in the building. We didn't spend much time there during the day and the building was mostly quiet at night/away from road noise though, so this wasn't a major problem for us. Would definitely recommend overall, and would come return next time we're in Paris! Collapse
Price is right in a good location

The hotel offers modest, clean, but shabby accommodations with a very basic breakfast. The front desk staff are very friendly and responsive to complaints, like the quality of room cleaning on the first day and a dysfunctional phone in the room. The bathroom is tiny and the lighting is rotten for applying makeup. The shower is excellent. The room is not the smallest one we have had in Paris. It had ample outlets for charging electronic devices and enough space to walk around two open suitcases and other gear. The bed was excellent but the bedside lighting was too dim for reading. The breakfast room is on the 4th floor but the elevator only goes up to the third floor. The attendant in the breakfast room did not pay attention to the status of the provisions on the buffet, nor did she clear tables promptly. The cheeses, ham, bread and pastries were good quality. Overall, the price was very right so it may not be fair to chafe too much about these imperfections. The hotel is within easy walking distance to public transportation and the delights of the Marais.
