If you are an Indian, the sight of a Sardar (Sikh) makes you feel at home and if you are greeted in your mother tongue Hindi, it makes you all the more comfortable. When I landed at St George Hotel in Deira Dubai with my wife, we did feel at home as a Sardar (the Lobby Manager) was there to welcome us and the person at the reception asked for our identities in our mother tongue. Besides, the location of this hotel is very convenient and the hotel itself dominates the skyline of Old Dubai. It is besides the Dubai Creek and a walking distance from the two wonderful markets - the Gold Souk and the Spice Souk. Even the Abra station is not far off and the Metro station is hardly 400 yards away. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are friendly. The morning breakfast is good enough if you enjoy the Indian Breakfast - North Indian or South Indian. In case you want other varieties an Afghan restaurant is not far off that serves some very sumptuous food at most reasonable price. Overall, this is a very good place to stay and explore the Old Dubai. Collapse

-Nice location, walkable distance to Gold Souk and Al Ras Metro station. - Ferry service to other side of Creek (Meena Bazar),at walking distance from hotel.(Ferry charge- 1 dirham each side) -Room no 109 allotted to us provided a nice view of water way(Creek) - Room was spacious with good house keeping service. -Toileteries were reasonably of good quality and bath linen was changed daily and was clean. -Staff at front desk and in Restaurant was polite and helpful. - Breakfast menu changed daily but lacked variety and was average. In particular, choice of Indian dishes were very limited . Similarly for Non vegetarians, choice was limited and quality of food as well as preparation was not up to mark. It may be worthwhile to rejig the BF menu to make it more interesting and tasty. -It was very disappointing that in the tea/coffee maker facility in room, only tea and sugar pouches were provided in the room. When asked for milk or coffee, it was very dry answer , that management doesn't provide these items. I don't know, what is the purpose of branding this as Tea/Coffee making facility, if milk & coffee are not included.Management may consider to make it proper by providing these two items also, which do not cost much. Overall, nice place to stay. Collapse

St George is located at a very convenient location, with beautiful view of Dubai creek if your room is located along the front side of the hotel. Its located at a 2 min walk distance from Al Ras metro station (follow the direction towards Post Office while exiting the metro station). Prominent attractions - Gold Souk and Spice Souk are 5 min walk from the hotel. The hotel staff is professional and cooperative. I visited during the last week of Jan 2017; with Indians being the most prominent guests. The breakfast served is not that great - essentially just a tick mark that the hotel is serving breakfast. Coming to the room, I was upgraded to a junior suite since a standard room wasn't available at the time of check in. The room was very spacious overlooking the Creek ; although it didn't have that wow factor since the property is very old. So lacking the modern touch so to speak. Having said that, the room was clean and well maintained with daily room service done neatly. I would recommend this place to light sleepers, since there is a club (sauve, yet shady - which Dubai is infamous for) located on the 10th floor which runs until 3 am atleast; with the noise easily travelling to the 4th floor. There's also continuous sound of ac ducts vibrating during the night. All in all, I was satisfied given the value for money I got during the visit (65$ per night), since most of the hotels were indicating steep prices owing to Chinese New Year and Shopping fest. Voila! I stayed at this place for 5 days during my visit to Dubai in December. It was early morning when I checked in (5ish). The check in process was smooth, and I was bumped up to their Executive Suite as there were no ready rooms in the category that I had booked. The room was nice, huge bathroom, spacious living room and big bedroom with a nice comfy bed, having views of the creek. No complains there. The AC was little slower than I would have liked, but i think that was because of the size of the room. My colleague who was in regular room, thought the room was freezing. The staff is courteous, the breakfast is adequate and included in the room price. Try to book a lower floor because they have a night club up on the 10th floor and can get noisy at times. My room was on the 2nd floor and i had no troubles with it though. All in all, a decent hotel at the nice price and I will stay there again if I visit. Collapse
