Staff extremely helpful and the hotel facilities are top class including indoor and outdoor pools and a very well-equipped gym with plenty of space. Room was large, with a massive private balcony and cooker, fridge, microwave and even a washing machine. Location is well away from the centre of Lisbon but the hotel has a free bus in every day and taxis are cheap. Our only criticisms would be the slightly limited dinner menu and the over-enthusiastic house-keeping staff who kept calling at 8.30 am Collapse

Booked this hotel through Expedia blind deal where you book the hotel at a certain price without knowing where you going to stay. It was a bit of a shock that the hotel was in Oeiras (a good 25 to 30 min drive depending on traffic) but there was nothing I could do. It was a great experience though. I arrived early in the morning and couldn't check in until 4pm (a bummer) and after travelling for almost 24h all I wanted was a shower. The reception was nice enough to provide towels and I could use the swimming pool changing room to shower and freshen up. The hotel is big and has 2 swimming pools (one indoor). Breakfast was very nice with Nespresso coffee machines available (made me super happy!!) and the food was really good with a great variety. Room was big and very comfortable with kitchenette and a washing machine, big balcony. The hotel offers a shuttle to Lisbon and it was very convenient. I recommend it if you don't want to stay in Lisbon or if you rent a car (self parking available as well). Nice experience! Collapse

I've just arrived home from a trip to Lisbon with my boyfriend and a lovely relaxing stay at Solplay. We stayed for 5 nights, and the hotel definitely suited our needs of being relatively close to the city centre - but also far enough to escape it all. The hotel does offer a daily free shuttle service, which we didn't take advantage of but is a great added bonus. We stayed in a comfort suite, and had a huge balcony we stretched from the living room through to the bedroom. The Kitchenette has everything you need -Huge Fridge Freezer, Pots/Pans and cutlery (Heads up - they don't provide washing up liquid - and the maid service will not clean your stuff for you). There was two flat screen TV's - one in the living and bedroom - with satellite channels with plenty of english speaking and subtitled shows. - even a movie channel as well. There is a local shop nearby to pick up supplies for your room, but also a really convenient shop within the hotel to pick up drinks and ice cream during the say. The Bathroom is big, with a lovely power shower and bath - the only questionable item is the hairdryer attached to the wall which looks like a hoover attachment - it works ok - but just not the best! Otherwise I cannot fault the room at all :) The pools were fantastic, as we travelled towards the end of the summer season - it was pretty empty - and the indoor pool and jacuzzi was almost private for us on most days we went for a swim. There is also a separate sauna and steam room. If you're sporty there is a gym, tennis and badminton - and you can even hire bikes as well. There is a poolside bar - but this was rarely staffed during the time we were there - I'd imagine it would be buzzing during peak season. Nice treat to have a pina colada by the pool :) Food wise, don't expect high quality fare. The breakfast buffet is substantial - great fresh orange juice and nespresso coffee and hot and cold options. Lunch options were Burgers/Hot Sandwiches and french fries - these were so-so. We ate dinner in the hotel one night, and the food was slightly bland but edible all the same. If I could improve one thing at the hotel, it would be the food for sure. The service was great - we had a slightly later flight and the receptionist kindly offered to let us check out later on that occasion. You can request fresh beach/pool towels whenever needed as well, and everyone was polite and welcoming. Overall I'd totally recommend a stay at the Solplay - a great hotel overall for a relaxing stay in Lisbon with access to the city centre. Collapse

Family of four (kids ages 9 &14) on a summer vacation to Portugal. We had 3 days in Lisbon and wanted a hotel outside of the hustle and bustle, but close enough to be able to take advantage of all that Lisbon has to offer...this was the perfect choice. Set high on a hill 10 minutes outside of Lisbon, Solplay Hotel provided all that we needed. We had a car but did not want to deal with driving and parking in the City...taxis were easy to get (hotel called for us) and Uber was a perfect solution - highly recommend - was cheaper than the taxis. Our two bedroom apartment was on the 5th floor with a large balcony overlooking the river and the pool deck...this is a must as the view is spectacular! We had plenty of space with two bedrooms, two full bathrooms a living area and kitchen. The building was clean and provided all of the amenities we could want. This is not a modern, fresh, glistening hotel...this a perfect family spot. The facility could certainly use a refresh - it just feels a little worn, but we were very happy. The headlines: - Plenty of front desk staff to help with anything you need - not really a concierge if you have very specific questions about Lisbon or surrounding area - we researched this ourselves. Provide bikes, pool towels and general hotel info. - Restaurant was very good - delicious and plentiful buffet breakfast and the one dinner we had in the hotel was excellent - service, food and quality. Indoor and outdoor seating. - Outdoor pool - fantastic, lots of seating, wonderful bean bag chairs, umbrellas...a clean, refreshing, large pool. With swim up bar! - Indoor pool - warm, clean, great if it gets chilly or if inclement weather. - Gym - very large space with lots of equipment - all a little outdated but no complaints at all - if you need a treadmill, elliptical, nautilus machines or a place to stretch it's perfect. - Parking - perfect if you have a car and want to leave it or use it occasionally - General location - exactly what we wanted outside the City providing more space, a great view, a beautiful pool and access to everything Lisbon has to offer. Overall a great experience! Right priced and everything you could want during your stay in Lisbon... Collapse

I was on relocation business to Lisbon, I did the reservation through my company to stay 30 days, in the check in they asked my credit card as usual, I gave my personal as a guarantee but I requested them to not charge any fee on it because the company would give a corporate card to cover the hotel costs, then I send an email to the hotel manager with my company HR in Cc to make this agreement. Curiously after a week in the Hotel (my staying period was 30 days) I received calls from the reception asking me to pay the first week, then I had to explain the whole story about the corporate card and about the authorization from the Hotel Manager to await the card. After 2 weeks staying there, my corporate card has arrived, as agreed I proceeded to the reception to pay for the 2 weeks, however for my surprise the first week has already been paid. When I question them who paid, it was confirmed the payment was done on my personal card by one of the receptionists. I contacted the manager to figure out what happened, she told me that the receptionist said I authorized the payment through my signature. Then I asked the signed receipt and it was proved that I didn't signed anything that was a fake signature, not mine. I was shocked with that situation, I have traveled to several places in the world for leisure or work and never experienced such situation. They tried to convince me that it was just a mistake and because of that they canceled the debit from my personal card, but this is unacceptable, the worse thing that the person who signed it, tried to copy my signature, it was not just a blank paper who was charged by accident. The case now is on my HR company, they included the Hotel in their black list and will check what should be done on legal field. Apart from this experience the hotel is good, the breakfast and the rooms are ok, but for sure I will never recommend it to anyone. Collapse
