We spent 6 nights here at Easter. The room was a large room at the front of the hotel so there was noise from the busy road just outside. Very nice room - the beds were very comfortable, very good shower. Plenty of space for clothes and luggage. All the members of staff we dealt with were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was very good - I particularly enjoyed the freshly made omelettes (and pancakes on one day only). I like fruit tea so took my own tea bags. The evening meal could have been better - although all the food was covered with lids it wasn't as warm as I would have liked. My husband burnt his wrist picking up one of the lids. Also the plates weren't warmed. The soup however was very hot. We parked our car in a street behind the hotel - no trouble but it was a bit of an effort with our cases as the hotel is on a hill. After our meal we spent every evening in the bar. We sat on comfortable sofas. Two nights there was entertainment from a singer/guitarist. This was good. Drinks were generally good value. Collapse

It is a four star place and I guess that's fair enough. Good value, large room, staff tries hard. For a hotel focusing on tourists, even breakfast was nice. BUT if you walk up to the bar to order two Margaritas and the bar tender asks: "the pizza or the drink?" - run. Just run. I made the mistake to confirm that I like to have the drink. I should have taken the pizza. Or a beer, or should have gone somewhere else. It was the worst Margarita ever. Ever. Probably the worst cocktail ever. I really don't want to reduce the whole place to one cocktail, but it sucked big time. Collapse

I review honestly on trip advisor and my experience may have been isolated but I've only given the hotel 3 stars and I'll explain the positive vs the negatives below. Negatives. The check in was over an hour later than advertised which was frustrating as we had a treatment booked which we subsequently cancelled as we didn't want to feel rushed with all our bags still in the luggage room and children not having anywhere to be. The receptionist did apologise, allowed us to use the facilities and gave us a drink. The room is deceptive as the pictures assume a one bed apartment has more space, although the room was clean it is only a room with an extra room & bathroom on the side so not overly big. There is a cupboard that pulls out into a kitchenette which you could cook with if needed. The balcony was nice to get fresh air in but the view unfortunately is of a wall and of your neighbours balconies. The cleaner came and was very polite and courteous and did a good job. Our double bed was on wheels so it moved every time we moved which was infuriating. The hotel advertises satellite TV but we only had a few snowy channels, national geographic was in English, sky news in English and we watched a snowy pictures subtitled film one night. Security was a problem with us as we couldn't get the window to lock and as the balconies are adjoined it meant that anyone could hop over and come in if they wanted. We did report this, a man came to fix this front door and balcony door but didn't fix the window. On the last day the bathroom door shut and we could not open it at all, the reception staff knew what we meant and said it happens all the time so beware if your child is in the bathroom and the door closes you might not get back in quickly!! There was a single cockroach in the downstairs ladies toilet in the pool area. The jaquzi is disappointing as it has a couple of mild jets and is not much warmer than the pool which wasn't overly warm anyway. The room comes as half board but the hotel advertises it has several places to eat. Lesson to me here is never assume that means you can choose where you eat! Half board means you are only allowed to eat from the restaurant that has the buffet. The self service buffet means you need to lift hot lids in a small area to see what food is available. I unfortunately lifted the lid and my hand hit the hot bulb which resulted in a burn. The service received from one bar tender one evening was embarrassing and humiliating. I ordered soft drinks for the family and a small bottle of Cisk for myself and asked for a splash of sprite in my glass so I could have a lager top. The bar tender then poured the contents of the bottle into the glass and left some beer in the bottle. He said I couldn't have that beer as I'd substituted it for the splash of sprite. I have no idea what he would do with the beer otherwise!? Later he did come to my table and pour the remaining beer in my glass but I felt this was unprofessional and I felt humiliated. Now for the positives. Before we arrived the communication over email was fabulous, helpful and prompt. Apart from the one random cockroach the hotel was very clean. The pool upstairs was lovely and the seating area and view really nice! I can imagine how nice this area is in the summer with the bar being open. The downstairs pool was nice enough but could do with being a bit warmer as the external air temp was really really warm but water not so much. However it is a relaxing area to use and the kids loved it. Although we could only choose from the buffet restaurant the choice of food was good and food was really pleasant. We enjoyed trying new foods and don't have any complaints at all with the chef. The selection was well thought out and the meat was lovely. The breakfast was ok, made to order eggs/omelettes were the best! My favourite part was the spa. The spa itself was wonderful, the staff kind and attentive and the treatments were very good and charged at a very competitive price in comparison to the UK. Overall I would say this hotel is great as a base for a couple of days either alone or with kids but not quite 4 stars. Collapse

We went for a week in April bed and breakfast at a great price. Very clean junior suite, nice bathroom and perfect bed for me as the mattress wasn't too soft. We were in a room we quickly renamed 'The Village Hall' because of its size...it was ENORMOUS (RM 1414). It was at the front so there was traffic noise but we got used to it and preferred having a balcony at the front so we could watch the world go by. There was only Sky news on the tv but my son took his Amazon Firestick for the tv which allowed him to be entertained in quiet times with Netflix eventhough the WiFi wasn't that great (yes I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV but tell that to a 15 year old). Great location with shops and restaurants a stone throw away. It was on a hill but my 76 year old mother who only had a hip replaced at the end of last year managed the hills well. I wouldn't recommend Melleiha though for someone in a wheelchair as the pavements weren't really wide enough. We caught the bus opposite the hotel and caught the ferry to Gozo, where we did the gozosightseeing open top tour for 15 Euro. Ferry was 4.50 Euro return. A great stay made better by the lovely, friendly staff at the hotel. We would definitely go again. Collapse
