We have just come back from a weeks stay at the Tryp and were pleasantly surprised. We were lucky to have a first floor apartment with a terrace outside with extra sun beds and had sun all day. The rooms were cleaned every day and beds changed twice. Pool area was lovely with lots of options to sit in the shade if required. All the staff were friendly and the hotel was immaculate. Breakfast was excellent for a 3 star with a huge choice. Collapse

The Tryp Tenerife is a friendly versatile hotel that caters for all ages, groups, families etc. the rooms are spacious and very clean but require updating. The hotel's restaurant is very clean and serves a wide variety of food. The hotel is well positioned with the majority of rooms having a sea view. It is situated only a short walk to the sea front where you find a vast selection of shops and restaurants and bars. There is also a wide variety of nightlife to suit all Collapse

We have been staying at the Tryp Tenerife (formerly Princesa Dacil) for 24 years and have been going twice a year recently. That in itself obviously says something but we have this year noticed both good and bad changes. The bad thing is that they seem to have cut back on the staff in the bar and restaurant. Those that are there are lovely and friendly and work hard but we have noticed how much more they are expected to do. There are longer queues at the pool bar but it is in the restaurant where the lack of staff is most obvious. It is a large dining room but we have sometimes noticed only 3 or 4 staff on duty, having to clear away the large piles of plates left on each table after use and then wipe and relay them for the next guests. This was particularly noticeable at breakfast when, if you arrived after about 8.30, there were few tables ready to use but loads with dirty plates on them waiting to be cleared. On the positive side, the pool has been redone but the water still stays puzzlingly cold. It is cleaned every day. We went in it more than before but that was just because the weather was so hot. There seem to be fewer events on round the pool at lunch time but the entertainment staff are very friendly. The cleanliness of the hotel is faultless but some areas are a little 'dated' eg the toilets near the pool. The introduction of hair dryers and kettles in the rooms is welcome but it would help to have cups and UHT milk cartons too. There were more children there this time , perhaps because of the new children's play area. We always see a lot of people who , like us, go back year after year which is because everyone seems to go out of their way to talk to other guests...especially welcome to those who travel alone. We have already booked our next holiday there but really hope there will be no further staff reductions. The prices have gone up in the last few years but it is still good value, especially the all inclusive option Collapse

We left the Tryp Tenerife today 15th November 2017 just like to give an overall view of our experience of this hotel. First impression walking up the drive was good, ramps and steps to walk into the hotel which is good for people with mobility problems. Very nice entrance large spacious area with plenty of chairs and tables to sit and relax, at the far side you can walk into the sitting out area and pool. Swimming pool and small pool for children but the water was very cold. This area can be crowded and people leave towels on the sunbeds for hours without being in use. I think management need to sort this problem out in my opinion. Very nice receptionist booked us in, we paid and were given a tenth floor room with very small balcony, the view was great with views of the sea to the side mountains and the local area so a big thank you for the room location. On the negative all 4 of our drawers would not slide open, the actual drawers were too small for the cabinet they were in. I went down to reception to sort this out but was very cross after explaining that we couldn't use any of the drawers when a different receptionist said we are only a 3* hotel and you only booked a standard room. She eventually agreed to send a joiner up to our room to try and sort the problem out. He spent about 45 minutes adding wood to the sides of two drawers and managed to get these working then left. On the day before we left when I was showing another joiner came and wanted to come in and finish the job off. Thank you but no thank you sort this out in your time not ours. Clearly the room was not ready for us and should have been sorted before we arrived. No kettle in the room, I could hire one but this didn't come with cups LOL. Food wise, two big plus, there are two station which cook a selection of fish or meat which is a great idea. We are none meat eater or cheese so for me breakfast was difficult it would be nice to have some sort of selection for us, there was no vegetarian options at all. I lived on beans bread and whites of an egg with fruit for 7 days. Great selection of fresh bread salad and fruit. Big thank you to the staff who were friendly and very helpful. We didn't go to the evening entertainment as we always went for a walk after dinner but I think there is someone one every night. Hubby played bowls once and enjoyed that during the day. All in all it was good except for the rude member of reception who I think needs re training, one of the things she needs to understand is when someone comes with a problem you do not under any circumstances make the problem worse and that was something she clearly did not understand. I explained to her that we were tired after travelling 12 hours and she answered me well I've been working 12 hours, really that is not something you say to a client. Collapse

We've stayed in about 10 different hotels in Tenerife before and this one is fine, not the best but also not the worst. No cash allowed which I didn't like but soon got used to it. You just use a card or open a credit at reception. We had a superior room which was large however had a very small balcony, otherwise it again was fine. Always something to eat and there was plenty of it however did get a bit monotonous. We were half board and ate out 4 of the nights and swapped our evening meal for lunch. Overall as I say this hotel was on the good side of average and I would stay again. Very good value for money Collapse
