Didn't pay much for it, last minute trip on my own for my birthday and overall very pleased. The manager even gave me a bottle of fizz on my birthday after the maid saw the cards I guess, very nice touch. Near to the beach & front, easy walk up to the bus stops so very good. The food was of a very good standard & a varied selection every night, I was there 4 nights & it was fine on all inclusive. Very clean inside the hotel, everything worked. Pool was clean & safe, lots of sunbeds if needed & all staff very polite. Only negative points is the WiFi is a little hit & miss sometime but generally ok & the balcony door & window needed wedging closed with paper to stop it rattling in the severe winds all night in the 1st week of January. The noise from the music in the bars was able to be heard if you wanted an early night but not too bad at all considering. Other than that a great place for a break. Collapse

The location was great and we had a room overlooking the harbour which we really appreciated. However, there was building work going on and as a Melia Rewards clients we were disappointed that we were not forewarned. We did make our thoughts known to the Customer Experience Manager, but she was anything but supportive. We appreciate that such work needs to be done, but we should have been told - especially as workmen drilled through the front of our balcony and everything was covered in debris and dust, including the chairs and some washing (none of which we would have left out if we had been informed). Most of those traveling with Jet2 and others had been told in advance, but not us mere Melia Rewards clients. The two Gala Dinners for Xmas and New Year were outstanding, as were the brilliant fireworks to herald 2017. The staff at the hotel were not only cheerful and friendly at all times, but we couldn't say the same about the scarcity of management and their lack of people skills. Communication was non-existent which again disappointed because we were returning guests. Special mention must be made of the entertainment team - especially Moy, Carmen and Asif - who worked extremely hard to make us all feel special during our stay (we were there for 5 weeks) and the afternoon sessions of Petanka were not only great fun, but led to us forming so many friends. Rumour has it that the management are considering curtailing not only Petanka, but also darts and other enjoyable pastimes. This would be a huge mistake! Finally, we were stunned when the upgrade to All-Inclusive was increased by 100% from 10 Euros a day per person to 20 Euros a day. This cost us 1400 Euros on the day we arrived and to be quite honest, had we been advised of this when we booked in February 2016 we would probably have received the same deal as we had the previous year. Also it is not the all inclusive we have experienced in other hotels because no snacks were available after 6PM and the bar closed at 11PM every night! The beds were hugely uncomfortable and the whole place needs to be re-furbished. Having said that the plus points were the friendliness of the staff and the brilliance of the hard-working entertainment team who made our stay extra-special and enjoyable. Our thanks go to them! This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel. On booking this break through booking.com I mistakenly booked 3 single rooms instead of 3 double rooms, although the web page asked and allowed me to enter 6 names. On arriving and check in the mistake was brought to my attention, the booking was amended and 3 double rooms were issued and we paid the bill in full. Checking my bank account 2 weeks later the hotel had taken £244 from my account without authorisation or notification, stating I cancelled the booking. The booking was never cancelled, only amended. I consider this this to be theft by the hotel who are refusing to refund my account. Collapse

Would not stay in this hotel again - no inside bar, so had to drink out of plastic glasses until the inside bar opened at 6pm and the restaurant was very noisy, having to pay extra for the safe and fridge even when staying in a premium room! Also the system of having to pre-pay at the reception for drinks at the bar is very poorly thought out, most hotels you can swipe your credit card and then pay the bar bill in cash at the end of the holiday. Staff very good though. Collapse

We stayed in November for 3 nights as a Melia rewards member, booked directly with the hotel a superior seaview room. The hotel is very dated, it looks like a building from the 70s. Upon arrival we felt like we were time traveling and there was no acknowledment from anybody that I am part of their loyalty programme, but they advertise it everwhere in the building. The value for money is really bad, we paid 130 Euro a night half board for this and about the same money for a 5 star property just 50 kms away. The staff wasn't extremly nice alltogether, except for the Czech receptionist (I think his name is Petr?), who helped us a lot and gave us most of the information we needed, thanks for that. We were allocated to a noisy room on almost the top floor overlooking the city, with a tiny double bed and a smell of mould from the aircon unit. Room was clean but very very old. I wonder how are the 'Tryp rooms' if this supposed to be a superior... Next day we went to reception to change the room and we were told that they were really busy...and there's none direct seaview rooms.well there were. So we have changed altough it was a twin bedded room on the top floor, no smell and much bigger as well. Seaview at the front and view to the firestaircase and aircon unit on the right...The beds are rock hard and very uncomfortable. The location is okey, but if you want to go to a nice beach you have to walk a bit towards Playa de las Americas, if you want to be near the port this is your place. The restaurant is absolute disappointing, it's more like a canteen with the cheapest possible products and bear it in mind that if you don't leave a deposit on check in at reception you can only pay by card, I'm wondering why? 3.4 Euro for a small beer or 3 Euro for a water...The hotel is 4 stars but by the standards it has, it barely reaches 2. If you spend a little extra money and want to stay in a Melia ther's better options around. Maybe good for pensioners who want to hang around the pool area on an all inclusive option on the sun, but would not recommend to anybody else... Collapse
