Just returned home from my first visit to Tenerife. We decided to stay at TRYP (formally Princesa Dacil) for a couple reasons such as; the price, location and offer of free buses to Siam Park and Siam Mall located outside the hotel car park. On arrival the hotel appears consistent with all the photos that have been displayed on here and are 100% accurate. (from our experience anyways...) We arrived at the hotel around 11pm and were greeted by staff at the front reception all of whom we dealt with were beyond helpful and pleasant. We were on the seventh floor and the view was just how we imagined. Our room was considered a "studio apartment" and was all of what we expected, pretty basic but did the job as it was just a base to rest at night. The room was cleaned every morning by staff at around 09:45am, (just be sure to lock your door before going asleep, as on one occasion after a couple knocks on the door the cleaner wondered into our room while I was just getting out of the shower...) The pool being out of use for refurbishment wasn't initially seen as a mega issue for us but as time went on and the weather wasn't so great it would of been handy to have a few lazy days around the pool instead of trying to find things to do to avoid the cloud, the work on the pool started around the last four days of the trip and to be fair wasn't too much of a disturbance although we were usually out most of the day...did get the occasional smell of plastic or something similar waft into the room sometimes but was nothing I'd consider a problem. One thing we did find slightly annoying was the pre-payment card scheme to use at the bars. If remember correctly there had to be a minimum of €50 preloaded onto the card in order to purchase anything at all, this was a pain as in the evening we would of liked to visit the sports bar or have a drink outside by the entertainment area. Our visit included free breakfast each morning which we used eight days out of the ten, the food was pretty standard buffet consisting of breads, cakes, fruit, eggs bacon etc... drinks available were fruit juices, tea and coffee although be aware of the juice machine running out and producing an off white colour liquid... In conclusion we would definitely recommend TRYP to anyone looking to visit Tenerife/ Los Cristianos and get good value for their money. Being only a three star it was more than enough for our needs and was generally cheap and cheerful. Personally we would stay at Las Americas for our next visit as we found it more lively for us being in our twenties. But overall was a really good experience and definitely feel that we got our monies worth. Thank you to all staff at TRYP. Collapse

The room overall was nice but they charge for the little things such as iron, safe, the fridge. These are things which are usually included without extra charge at some hotels. But it is decent for a reasonable price. The downside of my stay was the receptionist who gave me false information of where to wait for my airport transfer, which lead me to miss the bus. Collapse

We booked a last-minute trip to Tenerife, and chose the hotel TRYP based on its location, and a competitive price. Our initial impressions were very good, the reception is clean and inviting, and the staff who greeted us were friendly, and helpful. We arrived late in the day, but the restaurant was still open, so we took advantage of our half board booking, and went for dinner. Although we arrived late on in the evening dinner service, there was still a good selection of food available, from what is a very extensive buffet style restaurant. The food was tasty, and well prepared, and everything was clean and welcoming. Our room was on the 11th floor, and was clean, but relatively basic, and looked like it was probably due for a décor update. It would have benefitted from Air Conditioning, so we contacted reception to enquire if they had fans available, which they do, but we were told that they were 30 Euro’s for a week’s hire, and even though we were only staying 3 nights, the price was the same? Strange when you could buy a fan over the road for 14 Euro’s. One strange find in the room was a kettle, but no cups, spoons, or tea and coffee? We had read various reviews about the hotels pool, and when it would be available, some suggesting it would be ready by the time we visited, but sadly not, and we were advised it was three to four months away from being completed. The evening entertainment was ok and varied, with the entertainments team working hard to make everyone’s stay a good one. All the reception staff were friendly and helpful, bar one, who was grumpy most of the time, but I guess that’s just people for you. We had requested a late check out as our flight was in the evening, we needed an extra couple of hours ideally, we were advised that a late check out was available, but for a 30 Euro supplement, or 50 Euro dependent on who you asked? On the upside, we were offered storage for our cases, and the use of a curtesy room where we could shower and change, may as well have just let us stay in our original room? In summary, reasonable hotel, reasonable price, good food, mainly good staff, some strange charging policies, so check before you book. Collapse
