Before I start I'd like to say how much of a beautiful place Puerto De la Cruz is and how much it is worth a visit, built into a hill the town is very steep and my room was no different, As other reviewers have already said Brits tend to get the rooms hidden at the back at a top of a lot of stairs and I was no exception to this. Room by a main road with view only of the back of other apartments. Housekeeping came daily and made my bed but once realising there was only one in the room left me with just one bath towel each day. My board was bed and breakfast; breakfast was average and expected but with a random vegetable and chicken nuggets also on offer which I found hilarious but also quite wasteful as how many people really wanted or would have carrots or greenbeans with there breakfast? I only saw one person venturing into the breakfast veg during my weeklong stay! They had a chef cooking omlette, pancakes and fried eggs fresh which really boosted my rating of the hotel. Very few English Guests, Mainly German and at late 20's I was one of the youngest guests here. Didn't venture into the entertainment apart from for a brief period as defiantly aimed at a much older age range but appeared to be enjoyed by those there. Staff on the whole didn't make effort to engage with me and my attempts smiles and Hola's were generally ignored; wouldn't have cost anything for a smile in return. So the upshot is I will deffo be returning to Puerto De la Cruz but a different hotel.I'm not sure how the hotel got its 4 Star rating but I'm assuming it's linked to the gardens which were beautiful; Very close to Taoro Park which made a brilliant walk down into the town. Always Taxi back up as without its too steep but Taxi between 3-4 Euros so very affordable. I have very mixed views on this hotel so this review has been hard to write I do generally feel that if I was a German guest I would have had a very different experience. Collapse

The grounds of the hotel are great, restaurant is good plenty to eat, lot of milling around in the restaurant though due to it being buffet style, when it comes to the room we got We were disappointed, as our little hovel was nothing like the pictures on their website or the TUI Brochure. Hope this clears anyone's mind. Oh and yes other reviewers were right? Room we got is near the road and it is very noisy as the Hospital is near by and Ambulances are blearing up and down the road constantly! Picture of the room we were given are attached. Definatly nothing like advertised! Collapse
Enjoyment of this hotel appears to depend on the room you get!

We have just returned from two weeks in this hotel. We were lucky and were given a lovely large room with a fridge in a quiet position with a terrace leading out to a garden- I loved this room. The other British guests we spoke to weren't so lucky and were very unhappy with their rooms which were either facing a very noisy road or in a small attic. The cleaning staff were excellent and our room was spotless. We found the reception staff very helpful and polite and some of the waiters were friendly, especially a girl with blond hair who bubbled over with energy and fun. Some other waiters were surly and we sometimes wondered if we had offended them in some way! Meal times were often crowded and noisy although the staff worked hard to keep things going and there was always plenty of access to the food, apart from tea and coffee at breakfast, which we sometimes went without rather than join the long queues. Most of the food was very good with lots of choice. The gardens were exceptional with great views of Mt Teide (on clear days) from the roof terrace. We enjoyed our walk down to the centre every day through a lovely park - steep walk back but good exercise! Evening entertainment was ok to sit and relax to - the flamenco dancing was excellent. Buses went to Oratavo and back from outside hotel and the bus station not too far away for other visits, we went to Candeleria one day - very interesting and worth a visit. 90% of guests were German- no problem - apart from towels on sunbeds!! (Even taking them back to their room). In spite of some of our honest comments we liked this hotel very much and would recommend it if a room like ours could be guaranteed. Collapse
The Gardens are the best part

This hotel is at the top of a very steep hill and has a number of stairs and no lifts, so is not suitable for the less mobile. On booking in there is no one available to help with suit cases or show you to your room, you just find your own way. The room we had could do with a spot of paint as it was rather dingy, however it was clean withe regular linen and towel changes. A word of warning do not book a room at the front of the hotel as this looks on to a busy road and is rather noisy. The bar and waitng staff on the whole were very friendly and helpfull, the food was fairly good with a wide choice, although at busy times there never seemed to be enough cups and bowls. The best parts of this hotel are the beautifull gardens which are a minature botanical garden with plants and trees from all over the world. Collapse

This is just about the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Check in was abysmally slow with a long queue of guests and just one person working in reception. The room we were allocated was ever so basic; only sparsely furnished and the decor was just dull painted woodchip walls. There were a couple of screws which no doubt once supported some pictures which would have broken up the drabness. We complained immediately and were eventually told that they might be able to offer us an alternative at lunchtime on the third day. By then we had found that there was a wide variation in room standards and that some of the ones close to the road were very noisy. At least ours was quiet so we decided not to bother changing as we didn't want to hang around the hotel until lunchtime. We made the mistake of booking half board. The food equated to second rate school dinners and in the town there were some excellent eateries. When I go on holiday I expect something special and I didn't get that until I got home and cooked something myself! The other downside for Brits such as ourselves, the hotel clientele seemed to be 95% German; maybe they don't expect the same standards as us. Collapse
