I travel several times a year and have stayed in quite a few hotels, I came here with mixed expectations after reading some of the reviews. This is by far one of the best I've stayed at, its not a big hotel although the grounds are quite spacious, it's not the usual standard starchiness you get at other hotels, it's quirky, and and has character, yes it may be dated in parts but that's what makes it different, my room was good, good bathroom with shower. Hair dyer, clean towels changed daily. Double wardrobe, flat screen tv, comfy bed, plenty of plug sockets, small but adequate balcony overlooking pool, rooms cleaned daily. The food was good, breakfast plenty of choice, fried eggs or omelette cooked fresh, bacon, beans, etc. Dinner again plenty of choice, from fish to chicken or red meat, desserts to die for! One thing is it does get very busy and seating can be difficult at certain times. Staff at this hotel are excellent, very friendly and helpful. From the room cleaners to waiting staff, all well presented, they work hard and still have a smile and nothing is too much trouble, they are an asset to the hotel. Pool area very calm and relaxing, if you want music and lots of activity this is not the place for you. Like one reviewer put, it's an Oasis of Calm. Surrounded by palm trees and well kept gardens, good size pool, everywhere is spotless. I saw no sign of towels on beds at dawn, usually about 9.30, but I did the same. In need of more parasols though, get one early !! Evening entertainment could be better, it was a bit dull for my liking, usually varied singing acts, small dance floor. Now to outside hotel, it is situated at the top of a steep hill, about 45 min walk to centre, tough going, worse coming back, taxi usually outside hotel, cost 3.5 euro, there is a small supermarket about 5-10 min away down hill. All in all I had a superb holiday here, I came for a relax and that's exactly what I got, I would definitely stay at this hotel again without a doubt. Collapse

Not sure where the hotel gets its rating as it's rather dated and the room we were given was very basic with x2 thin plain white sheets on the bed with peeling walls and an antique hairdryer. The grounds are spectacular and the food was delicious however having our cheeky two year old with us didn't go down well with all of the hotel guests! The entertainment varied but the bar lacked atmosphere and was never full. More mature guests of the hotel can be seen to be reserving sun loungers in their dressing gowns from 6.30am however we found that we could desert the pool area in the afternoon by turning up with our little man We liked the town very much and walked down each day and paid 4euros for a taxi back up. Loro parque is a must as a day out and la Martinez was superb with a choice of 8 plus tropical pools to explore. Fantastic spot for soaking up the rays and very family oriented. There is a fantastic park just behind the hotel with outdoor gym equipment and if you walk that way to town there is a spectacular waterfall. There is a superb beauty centre called Sen sations and I had a wonderful set of highlights and cut for a reasonable price. We found the hotel to be a satisfactory base and took the chance on a bargain however had we paid full price we would have been disappointed with the interior, lack of facilities, amateur entertainment and lack of atmosphere and been more sensitive to the scowls and lack of customer service. Great Hotel with amazing and beautifully kept gardens. Our room was spacious and very clean with good beds and bathroom facilities. Our verandah overlooked the small pond adjacent to the swimming pool - very peaceful. Other side of room backed on to road at the side of the hotel which was noisy during the day - but we were out every day so not a problem. Room was so large you couldn't hear road noise once inside! Dining facilities were excellent with so much choice you never needed to eat the same thing twice in a fortnight! All the staff were very friendly, efficient and attentive and always super smart. We enjoyed the selection of evening entertainment during our stay - some great musicians. The flamenco dancers and Beatles tribute band in paticular were superb. We hired a car for one week of our fortnight stay - beware of dodgy rental firms who have your card details! Excellent location to explore the island from. Went up to Teide twice, round to Les Americas,Los Cristianos, Los Gigantes,Garachico, Santa Cruz etc. Loro Park is amazing and a must see for all ages. Didn't find the hills and steps down into town a problem though we are both reasonably fit and used to walking (aged 57/65). Read reviews before we booked the holiday - in my opinion harsh and misleading. Would definitely use this hotel again if we return to Teneriffe. Collapse
An oasis of calm on a busy island.

A good hotel in beautifully kept gardens with a lovely park to the rear,(which can be reached by using the steps up from the restaurant and exiting the gate with your room card, saves using the busy road at the front.)Once in the park you can go down to the town and sea via paths and steps etc.if you have mobility problems don't stay here there are steps to climb inside the grounds and it's on a very steep hill 20 minutes walk to the sea.Good taxi services locally approx 4 euros from the town to the hotel.Comfortable rooms with good beds and chairs, also a fridge but no kettle etc,and only BBC world service in english on tv, ask for a room NOT at the front of the hotel overlooking the road ,it is a very busy and noisy road.We enjoyed our stay here in April temps around 24 to 29. The mix of people is mainly elderly and predominately German which we did not find a problem. The restaurant can get very busy but the staff are excellent and efficient, food mix good excellent salad choice,it is a very casual eating experience no long trouser rule in the evenings etc,we don't like fuss so suited very well. I read the reviews on here before travelling and found some of them very harsh. Collapse
