Myself and 3 friends, aged between 18-22 decided we would book a getaway to Sol Palmanova II as we fancied some time to relax and enjoy the sun. First day was absolutely great, we checked in, we got our room keys and headed on up. We shortly discovered the air-con wasn't actually working within our room and we found this to be a problem with many of the guests. But hey-ho we didnt want to make a fuss so we just knew we would have to keep the balcony door open instead which was no biggy. The location was brilliant, you're placed right in the middle of everything with the beach just a 5 minute walk away and local cafes and bars right on the doorstep! Magaluf was also a short walk away but this didn't appeal to us as we wasn't going away to party! The hotel pools were okay, however the pool covering Sol Palmanova II was so overcrowded with what seemed as people actually reserving sunbeds at 7:30am!!! This wasn't an issue as there was loads of sunbeds to take from the stack but there wasn't anywhere to actually place them near to the pool...so sitting on chairs by the bar was an easier solution. The rooms are lovely, they're very modern and clean and they all look very fresh. The room itself is a decent size. The maids whom clean your room daily are so friendly and they are extremely polite to the guests. Now here is the real downfall of our whole experience here at this hotel...the food. Now being an All Inclusive I wasn't expecting the quality to be of a very high standard as I have stayed in all in's before, but I wasn't expecting it to be as low as this. Breakfast was the best meal of the day. Everything was cooked and tasted okay. However, lunch and dinner was a completely different story. Everything was repeated EVERY single day and what was for dinner one day was for lunch the day after. It literally tasted reheated. Bland Paella, uncooked burgers, soggy bottom puddings and stale chips springs to mind as a few of the real faults of the food. We decided it would just be easier to not trust the meats as none of them looked cooked. On the 4th night my friend was about to eat some cream pudding type thing and as she went to scoop some out, it smelt sour and it looked like it had parted in the pot as if it had completely gone off, it was absolutely disgusting and that is what completely put us off. We tried to tell a member of kitchen staff but we were just kind of forgot about and nothing was said or done. So for the rest of the holiday we ate out at 'Loro Verde' which was great. But we paid for all inclusive, so having to actually go out and eat instead really cut into our wallets. Every time we ate at the resturant of the hotel we all experienced bad stomaches nearly immediately after consuming the food. The pudding selection was also repeated everyday as expected and the majority of them hadn't even defrosted before they served them anyway. The queue for the bar on event nights was ridiculous and they didnt have enough staff on to handle the mound of people that arrived nearer the end of our holiday. The bar man Miguel (I believe that is his name) was absolutely wonderful and he did make our nights queuing for a drink a little bit more bearable!! Overall I wouldnt return to this hotel souly for the fact of the food being a real let down. This hotel would be great for people who have strong stomaches and don't really mind what they consume.. but it just wasnt for us! Thank you anyway, Sol Palmanova II. Collapse

Have just returned from another successful stay here. We had 6 days 14 - 19 May 2017. Not many changes from last year. All Flintstone and Bam Bam club references have been removed and seemingly done away with. Both restaurants have had the kids Flintstone sections removed, there are just normal tables there now. Breakfast eggs are back to being cooked on the griddle in front of you, - a great improvement from last year. There appeared to be a different carvery roast every night, as well as hot griddle cooked food, all came with appropriate vegetables. The cakes section must have had either a budget increase or a new chef because they were superb, jeez the scales groaned when I got home! The hotel was seemingly busier than last year, indeed Sol 2 (formerly Tordos building) was opened to guests on Monday 15th May, normally it doesn't open until June. Plenty of sunbeds to go around and the ones by the lagoon pool seemed to have been refurbished and re-clothed, didn't seem to be too many broken ones. Gold all inclusive upgrade is €12 pp/pn this year. Access to the exclusive sun deck is €8 per day, two beds and a parasol. Entertainment was still inside when we were there but was opened up on the outdoor stage the day we left. Wi-fi was free throughout the hotel, seemed to work well everywhere, we was on the 7th floor and it worked fine. Minor gripe was that the air con throughout the hotel (Mirlos) wasn't working properly during our stay until the last night, some sort of re-start teething problem/blockage so I was told, had a few uncomfortable nights sleep because of this, also some meals were a challenge as the restaurant got so hot they had to open the side patio doors by the pool to let some air in. We had excellent weather, indeed 31 degrees one day, I would thoroughly recommend a stay here in May, it is totally different here in the peak of summer when it is packed. Collapse

The hotel was well presented and kept clean and tidy. The food was generally good but became repetative after a while. Unfortunately, although our bed was comfortable and the room cleaned every day, the air conditioning did not function properly and so the room was always too hot and we had to open the window which meant we could clearly hear the traffic noise and also the noise from Magaluf. The hotel staff did provide us with a fan but this did not prevent the heat problem. This was not the case in all rooms as one of our party had a room where the air conditioning worked effectively, so it's just a case of luck of the draw. Collapse

Just enjoyed a great stay at Sol Palmanova. We travelled as a couple but had some family with us who had kids with them. This is a family hotel with a large majority of the guests being families with young kids. So if you are a couple who like a bit of quiet time then this is perhaps not the place for you. The pool area is nice with a good atmosphere. As others have mentioned, a lot of sun beds get reserved early by guests. These are however the beds in the best locations. If you aren't fussy in this respect you should always get a couple of beds somewhere on this extensive complex. The hotel is only a short walk to the beach if you fancy a change of scenery. The standard all inclusive drinks were fine for our needs, the free lager is Amstel. You can get Cava if you like a bit of fizz. My only slight complaint regarding the drinks would be the queues. An extra bar man would not go amiss. Note, as far as I'm aware even if you upgrade to the gold all inclusive you'd still be in the same queue which would hae annoyed me had I upgraded. The ice creams served at the bars were of a great standard for all inclusive. The food in my opinion was first class. Everyone in our party thought it was great. Lots of choice, everything hot and tasty. Some of the best Paella I have ever had. (one note of caution, some even quite small pieces of meat can have a bone in it. Chew well and if I had kids I'd probably pre check all meats and fish). One good thing in the restaurant was ability to get your own drinks. Beer pump, soft drinks machines, red white and rose wine pumps and water pump. Rooms were nice. Serviced daily. The place has had an upgrade since my last stay. Bed was decent enough and the pillows were great. Big fluffy pillows, not the standard holiday hotel flat pillow anymore. We had paid extra for a sea view which I would recommend. There's a decent enough small hair drier in the bathroom. Our room had a small fridge. Staff were hard working and mostly friendly. I enjoyed their parade/introduction around the pool which seems to be a new thing to help guests get to know everyone. There were a couple of staff members not providing as good a customer service as the rest but this is likely the case in most organisations. Management could perhaps employ some 'secret shoppers' the odd time! Entertainment in May during our stay was ok. Really just the hotels own entertainment team trying their best. My last stay was in peak season and I remember the entertainment to have been great with tribute acts most nights. Perhaps things get better peak season? All in all a great stay at this hotel. It was around 7 years since my last stay but I'm sure I'll be back in the near future. Collapse

Me and my husband stayed in this hotel for a week in May. Couldn't fault the hotel. Room was nice, tidy & clean. The maid was in each day to clean. Our hotel looked out onto the main road so was abit noisy at times but that's to be expected. The hotel is in a lovely location, Palma Nova on one side and Magaluf on the other. Bar serves a variety of drinks, hot, cold, alcoholic & Non alcoholic. There was an option to upgrade to a Gold AI which includes Strongbow & bottles beers. The food was nice & freshly cooked just sometimes it was abit repetitive as in the same at tea time as there was lunch time. Could not fault any of the staff in the hotel all friendly and happy to help. You kind of have to chase he sun around the pool so while one side was in the sun the other was in the shade. The entertainment in the hotel was alright. I'm not one for entertainment on a night time so we either sat outside or at the other side of the bar. The room didn't have a iron or ironing board but did have a hair dryer in the bathroom Also if it's your birthday while you are there they give you a bottle of cava on your room & a letter to wish you happy birthday Hotel is great for families and couples Collapse
