We visited sol Katmandu from May 8th to 18th and had such a great time. I must admit when we arrived I was a little unsure, especially as we were all inclusive but had to pay for food in the outdoor restaurant. As we hadn't been there long enough we didn't know that this wasn't part of the all inclusive. My only suggestion here would be that the all inclusive guests receive a discount here. Onto the good stuff, we have a little boy of 3 (he was 3 after the hols) and he loved it.. we gave him the option of kids club which he attended on a couple of occasions and he really enjoyed himself, I would like to thank the guys at the club, they work so hard with kids club 11-1, 3-5 and after the disco for a movie or face painting! They really do all they can to make the kids enjoy their stay, although we only used this once a day if that. There are 3 pools and although it was out of season, it was still busy but not too busy . I really can't fault the hotel or the staff, the staff made our holiday, in particular, Sandra and jose (We miss you ) from the restaurant were amazing and really went out of their way with our boy, he loved them. They were also our saviours when our little pickle went for a wander en route to the toilet, he made it to the 10th floor!!! But they did all they could as well as the customer experience manager and the cleaner lady that bought him back to us, for that we are forever grateful! Please don't let 'magaluf' put you off, yes it is minutes from the strip but you would never know, we weren't disturbed once and went to the beach on a number of occasions. The hotel is lovely, well looked after and lovely friendly staff, also highlighting the two guys behind the bar in the main entertainment room and the lady (carman? Loved her too). The theme park was cool and the splash park and soft play, so much to do, although we didn't see all of it due to our little ones age but what we did see, including the upside down house and the legend of Boro was great, our boy loves Boro and Maya and loved seeing them at the disco each evening. The food was lovely, hubby can be a fussy eater but he was happy and found something every day. We were more than happy. The room was a little small for my liking and lacked storage space but managable and it worked. We would love to go back and hope to soon so we would definitely recommend this hotel. Thanks sol katmandu ❤ Collapse

Lovely holidays, the hotel was very clean and the staff amazing (helpful, polite and caring). Great location, plenty of things to do for kids. Perfect for family holidays. Brilliant kids entertainment, a special THANK YOU to Maria who took great care of our little girl. There was a kids disco every night and kids activities afterwards (every day something different: soft play, face paint, balloons, cinema). Kids club was great during the day, very energetic young crew with loads of ideas, you could see that they enjoyed it together with the children. One blonde girl spoke about 5 languages, very impressive. The other blonde girl dressed up as a spider man and climbed fences :) The guys were great to! Everyone was very friendly, also a thank you to the cleaning ladies (quick, brilliant and funny), and the cooks and all the stuff! Would definitely go back! Collapse

I have just returned home after spending a week at Sol Katmandu Park and Resort with my sister and 9 year old daughter. This was my daughter's first trip abroad and has been an really good experience. The hotel is beautiful and very clean, Our room was lovely ; I can see that many people have been disappointed by the size of their rooms. However I can honestly say we were pleasantly surprised and had no complaints about ours. The beds were comfortable and had plenty of wardrobe space to store our clothes. Staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for the guests. In particular the entertainment staff worked so hard to ensure the children had an amazing experience. The water and theme parks were fantastic and ensure that children and adults! will never be bored! There is also a nice indoor soft play area that my 9 year old enjoyed. There was plenty of food, lots of choice and the standard was very good. My daughter celebrated her birthday during our stay and the hotel was very kind in leaving some birthday cake and a small gift in the room for my daughter. I would definitely recommend and would consider returning for another stay here. Collapse

I will try and keep this short.... We stayed here between 15th – 26th May. First & foremost the Hotel sells itself on the theme park. Check in First impressions are good as you enter reception and service was pretty quick as we were the only ones checking in at the time so no problems there. Rooms We were given room 220 (A Shoe Box) with 2 beds shoved together and a bunk bed up against the wall with no space to move around, smallest room we have ever stayed in. The bathroom door was broke and I was locked in whilst unpacking, the floor was dirty and the wardrobe doors were hanging off. When the joiner came and rescued me from the bathroom I went to reception to explain that the room was inadequate and that it's also damaged. The duty manager came and got the cleaner to clean up, joiner to fix the door (wardrobe was irreparable) and gave our kids a toothbrush by way of apology. Not to let this spoil our holiday we finished unpacking and went downstairs. The next day we had a knock and it was the accommodation manager Ruben who was very professional and polite and offered us a proper family room (832) which was big, clean, modern and spacious (the one you see on the YouTube video) so in the end we were very happy with our 2nd room. There were a few unhappy families who had a shoe box but they would have to pay to upgrade. The rooms have a fridge but if you like a coffee in the morning then it might be worth taking a travel kettle. I had to use costa over the road as the cattle market coffees weren’t to my taste (We spent a fortune on this all inclusive holiday) The 3 Pools (Not the Theme Park) The reality of this hotel has 3 pools, 2 deepish ones and a kids one, these don’t have slides or anything. No activities around the pools such as pool volleyball, darts, rifle shooting, archery etc absolutely nothing not even any music. We asked management why they don’t have music by the pool and they said nobody likes it. This area is sectioned off from the "theme" Park as its for hotel guests only (You don’t see much of the 3 pools on the YouTube video) There is 1 bar which does snacks & drinks which were fine, Strongbow or Cruzcampo are on draft which were ok, plenty local spirits if you like them. Slush for the kids & Ice Creams etc. Cheese toasties are nice, they also have burgers, nuggets, chips, hot dogs etc all replenished quickly and fresh, no complaints Friendly Staff, Rafa was always well mannered. They have a girl who brings a trolley round selling popcorn & teddy bears every 5 minutes (we spent a fortune on this all inclusive holiday) When we first arrived there were plenty sun loungers available but toward the end of our stay I noticed people reserving them at 6am then going off for the day, if you have kids then you need to be near the small pool ideally to keep an eye on them but the spaces there a limited so set your alarm. (We just moved beds to where we wanted to sit as opposed to reserving) All in all kids enjoyed playing in the pools but they are pretty boring. We went over the road to Magaluf Playa and used their pool, we had it to ourselves, free juke box for music and comfy beds, it's worth a visit to break the monotony. Rock on Tommy bar guy was a laugh and you can have a drink of choice here (Kopperberg/Guinness etc) Kids Club This was probably the best part of the Hotel, the staff were fantastic (and a bit wacky), they did lots of activities with the kids, dressing up, face painting, crafts, pool side stuff scaring people and splashing people, all safe with a sign in and out system, daughter who is 7 loved it, my son who is 3 wasn’t old enough to go in "older kids club" which he wasn’t happy about as he likes to stay with his sister but he got brave and enjoyed the little club which was also good. Well done Kids Club team, keep it up. Restaurant Also known as "the cattle market" I don’t know what it is with these places but it's like people have never seen food before, pushing and shoving, jumping queues, piling there plates up (food gets replenished) then wasting it. The food was hit and miss but there's always something for someone, it's not the best but it's what's expected in a cattle market. There's also a microwave to warm food up if required. Breakfast was like Primark on a Saturday afternoon (Major Panic) I was just pleased to get out. You also have to ask for bottled water of an evening (Tip) get a few and put them in the fridge in your room. Tea & Coffee machine available but I thought the coffee was poor. All in all food was ok but we decided to eat out a few times Entertainment Mini Disco of an evening was very very loud, kids enjoyed it, various acts afterwards with the usual hula hoops, parrot show, Chinese jugglers etc we didn’t hang around long after mini disco because our ears were bleeding. I could still here it the next day while I was sat round the pool so at least I had something to listen to I suppose. The Girl selling popcorn is still ringing the bell The "Theme" Park This is the part you see on the YouTube video which like us though "wow this hotel looks good" it is separate from the 3 pool area, it is good don’t get me wrong but there are no rides as you would expect from a theme park. Katlantis splash park is good, few small slides for the kids (only ankle deep) plenty lifeguards too so very safe, we did this a few times but when the kids wanted to swim we would have to head back to "the 3 pools" Soft Play looked ok but the age and height restriction meant my son couldn’t play with his sister but he wouldn’t go in the little one on his own. (He's been on bigger soft plays than the big one here back home) but it was 'Policy'. All 4D rides were just a sit on and watch/shoot which were good but over in 10 minutes. Upside down house was good, gravity room was funny, we did this about 3 times. Golf & 4D magic show you had to pay extra for. Everything is extra charge or buy a photo etc, my son went on the motorbikes which were €1 a go. (I suppose these are the closest things to a ride) which he loved but these are only available out of climbing frame hours (22:00-10:00) Climbing Frame was ok not as good as Go Ape and also another upgrade option (spent a fortune). Once you have done the theme park you will probably find yourself back at the 3 pools (shh) oh the girl selling popcorn is here too ringing the bell. Location Right next to the Strip & BCM. British touts outside these places get on your nerves. Close to the beach Overview Before we got here we were expecting a bit more if i'm honest, the hotel is good, we had a good time but it sells itself on the theme park and perhaps it should focus on the 3 pools, go and have a look in the Sol Wave House or a few other hotels and you will find that a little bit of music just to get the foot tapping and peoples spirits up works wonders, maybe introduce some poolside entertainment, You don’t have to join in just watch it and it makes a difference. We did the Pirates Show which was good (bit pricey) €6 for a sword out of pound shop etc €10 for a picture etc etc, & Marine Land which was also good but also rip off. Club Mac Last year had more going on yet less stars. After this experience we may give "all inclusive" a miss on our next holiday. Did we have a good time? Yes Would we return to this hotel?
