I stayed in this hotel with my collegue. The hotel was nice and clean. A little busy on reception, but personnel tried to help as maximum as possible. Rooms are clean & tidy. The hotel has very good restaurant with french cuisine and american style sport bar. They have live music and real fireplace in the evening which makes this place very special. I reccomend this hotel as nice place to stay. Collapse

Check in was quick and efficient but performed in a brusque manner which wasn’t an inspiring introduction to the hotel. However, our room, and the hotel generally were clean and comfortable with a good atmosphere in the bar, where the staff were friendly and helpful. The free wi-fi is of a reasonable speed. Unfortunately, there were too many negative aspects to ignore which when added together spoiled the overall experience of this hotel. To have tea/coffee facilities in your room costs 400r per day, and having availed ourselves of this service, we found that the tray wasn’t cleaned or the milk replenished after the first day. The bath is a reasonable size and the water hot, but the shower pressure is poor and the seal along the bottom of the shower door in our room has come off along most of its length. The toiletries consist of a soap dispenser by the basin, and a shampoo dispenser in the bath/shower. Breakfast was very poor in both selection and quality (and hot items being cold) and for the first time ever I didn’t bother with it after the first day (of three). Perhaps worst of all the chicken meal that I ordered in the bar was completely raw inside; fortunately, I noticed this before going too far. A vodka was offered as an apology and the cooking was completed and the plate redressed. The metro is an easy walk (left, left & right) from the hotel. The concierge booked ballet tickets for us but since there is a 10% fee payable to the theatre and 400r per ticket to the hotel, it would be better to book online. It is also not possible to pay using a credit/debit card at the time of booking. The hotel was booked as part of a package so we don’t know the individual cost, but overall we would expect more from a hotel claiming four stars, and would suggest prospective clients book elsewhere unless the above is of no concern to them. Decent hotel to stay for a couple of the days, rooms are quite spacious and relatively quiet as no major roads with heavy traffic are nearby, location is not in the historical center, but it actually reachable even by foot - if you are not afraid to walk a bit. Sauna and gym are present. Rooms equipped with TV, iron and ironing board, sewing kit and footwear care kits only lack of teapot makes the set incomplete. Also slippers are available. So this hotel will cover your basic needs almost in full. Also even some compliments on registration present, you will find small candy on your bed on the first time in your room :). Breakfast buffet is OK, not overabundant in possibilities and at least during my stay quite repetitive, but definetely not a problem for shorter stays, for the lengthier ones maybe. Now for some letdowns, first of them the room wasn't so clean, I'm really not a cleanliness freak, but even I've noticed that some dirt remained in less accessible areas like in the corners of the wardrobe at the entrance, also it was strange smell in the bathroom, like some persistent dampness or mustiness, as well as shower doors would benefit from some threshold under them as now water runs free all over the place. As for breakfast buffet main problem, at least during my stay, was that hot dishes weren't really hot, they varied from lukewarm to downright cold, don't know where the problem was but every time I've tried to have some hot breakfast it ended up in same way. For instance steamed vegetables almost every day were just cold, only some pieces were warm, meatballs, sausages were warmer but not warm enough same with pancakes, which is a pity as pancakes just have to be hot and sizzling/ Collapse
Disgraceful service tolerated, dangerously raw food served and charged-not acceptable

I was sufficiently concerned about previous reviews to consider contacting the travel company we had booked with to reassure ourselves that the standard would be consistent with the Holiday Inn in Moscow that they had booked us into. However there were enough of the 'basics' in place for us to decide to leave it as we tend to be tolerant of minor issues or differences and our plans for visits in St Petersburg meant we would not spend much time in the hotel. While our check in experience was not great with a 'stern' and 'dismissive' assistant, we still hoped for better. The hotel looked cosy and the busy and the room was fine. Firstly we noticed no tea/coffee facilities and joined another couple to ask and found it was offered at 400 roubles per day while the website said even basic rooms had this in place. We opted not to pay this as the (very helpful young man which was a welcome change to check in) told us we could come at any time to the restaurant area and get hot water, tea etc. We ate in the hotel bar/restaurant two nights as our itineraries were so busy we were tired and it was the line of least resistance. last night, however our friend was served a chicken breast that was completely raw- so much so that, despite this being a favourite dish of mine, I am not sure when I will feel I can have this again. They apologised and recooked it but still charged for it??? That couple are now eating outwith the hotel even for breakfast and fortunately we found a local pub that we ate at tonight- our last night of a fantastic 6 day trip to Russia. My husband and I returned from a long day seeing all the wonderful sights of St Petersburg tired and cold and all I wanted was a cup of tea. I had teabags in my room and went to get hot water from the restaurant as directed by the personable young man at reception. I was met with the rudest and most objectionable assistant (later identified as 'Maria') who challenged me taking hot water and told me repeatedly the 'buffet was closed' and when I explained I knew that but that I just wanted hot water she rudely told me I had to pay for it. I was shocked at the level of animosity and told reception staff about this. No resolution was reached and no hot water or tea was offered. (Or an apolology??!!) Following on from the difficulties with getting tea making facilities (and this was far from acceptable when it arrived for our friends), the dangerous raw chicken served and charged the previous night we found ourselves in a group that went outwith the hotel to eat tonight and for breakfast. Some of the party had been allocated rooms in the Sokos Vasilesvskiy and their experience was far better, despite it being in the same group. I would avoid Sokos Olympia Garden as it has some basics in place- the bed is comfortable, shower is good, reasonably clean...but lack of toiletries (dispenser on wall which is as expected in very basic hotel, not this grade of hotel) and lack of basic customer service leaves you feeling vulnerable as a visitor to a wonderful country but one where you need to feel secure and confident in customer service. I have never left a bad review and, even when I told the reception staff and they appeared to tell managers of my disgraceful experience, there has been no contact from management. There are other far better hotels to stay in and others in our party will also be contacting the travel company we booked with to highlight unacceptable aspects of this part of our trip to Russia.
