Abrupt reception staff not a great start. No food available on sundays again not a great start. Cobwebs and dust in breakfast room come bar come restaurant has a lot to be desired. Staff need to be trained on how to wipe a table properly. Basic food like yoghurts should be kept cool, bacon should be available at breakfast time. The selection of half cooked fried eggs was not appetising. Coffee was cheap and bitter. Collapse

I had vouchers bought for my birthday and selected this hotel for a two night stay. When we arrived we were given a room that overlooked a horrible old yard and we asked to be moved and were told that we had to pay another £20 per night for a different room as we had the gift vouchers. The only other room we could have was one up on the attic floor which, although was much smaller, was a much better room, so we accepted this. The room was clean so we were happy with this. After the first night we discovered that there was no hot water in the basin so we asked first thing the next morning if they could get it repaired and were assured that it would be done. That evening we went back to the room and there was still no hot water so we asked again for it to be repaired and were told that they have no maintenance staff in the evening or over night so the only thing we could do was move again which we did not want to do so we put up with having no hot water in the basin. Due to these things we were given half price breakfasts. Breakfast are normally £8.95 which I find very expensive for what you get. There are lots of local places nearby that do breakfasts for half that price. The staff are not very good as they gave us no information whatsoever, no times for breakfast or departures, nor anything about the breakfasts, whether included or not and that you need to get a voucher for it, nothing about parking etc. If you wanted to know anything you had to keep asking. There is also nothing to do in the hotel as they have a bar which they don't open. The door to it remains locked all the time, therefore if the weather is bad you don't even have a place to sit and have a drink or anything. There is an area to sit by reception which is quite pleasant but just with a TV and no drinks of anything else. I definitely would not go back to this hotel again. The vouchers only allow you to visit in the off peak months so maybe it would be different in the summer. Another thing at the moment is that they are doing something to the beach and at 7.00 in the morning you get woken up by lorries trundling up and down the beach. I know this not the hotel's fault but it is not very good when you are on holiday. Collapse

If you have a car then reception do a permit for £1, if you arrive after 6pm it covers the whole next day too! Staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and a very powerful shower which suppressed me the size of the hotel. Straight across the road on to beach& 10 min walk to shops. Defo recommend and will stay if we visit again. Collapse

Recently visited with my husband and mother inlaw. After driving for 4.5hrs we managed to park opposite the hotel and we were checked in very quickly and earlier than stated which great. Rooms good size and great sea view. Great service and nothing is to much trouble. My mother in-laws kettle did not work so she went to reception and it was soon replaced with a brand new one and was even taken into the office and a cup of tea was made for her. All staff very friendly and helpful. We didn't eat breakfast at hotel so cannot comment. Very quiet and had 2 very good night's sleep. Great location and would definitely stay again. Thank you Collapse

This was the last hotel we stayed in whilst walking the South Downs Way and they had kindly agreed to take delivery of our bags from our baggage company. We arrived 15 minutes early for check in at 3.00pm and were asked to wait in the lounge (opposite the reception desk) by the two lads on the desk (a bit picky in my opinion). One of the lads kindly provided us with a jug of cool water as he could see we were a bit tired from our days walking. At 3.05 pm my wife returned to the desk to see if we could check in and was asked as to wait a little longer as they were due change over staff at reception. She asked them to give us a shout when we could check in and returned to the lounge. At 3.20 we looked across to see a new member of staff fronting the desk and when we asked if we could check in she said of course. I was more than a little surprised (and dissatisfied) to find that I had to provide a swipe of my credit card in case we caused any breakages or damages in the room, this seemed to be like giving them a blank cheque as if they subsequently charged us for something we would have difficulty proving one way or another if this cost was justified (as it would be charged after we had checked out). This is the first time we have had to do this and in my opinion its way over the top with regards customer service. The room was very clean and modern similar to what you would expect at a Premier Inn, however the walls are very thin and you can hear a lot of noise inside and outside the hotel. It’s a 10 minute walk to the main shopping area and is situated on the sea front near to the pier. Would I stay here again? The answer is NO. The fact that I had to wait 30 minutes from my arrival at the hotel before I could check in (for no valid reason other than the lads on reception were due to go off shift) and also had to hand over a surety via my credit card spoiled our stay.
