Abrupt reception staff not a great start. No food available on sundays again not a great start. Cobwebs and dust in breakfast room come bar come restaurant has a lot to be desired. Staff need to be trained on how to wipe a table properly. Basic food like yoghurts should be kept cool, bacon should be available at breakfast time. The selection of half cooked fried eggs was not appetising. Coffee was cheap and bitter. Collapse

On check in I was given a parking voucher to put on my car which was parked directly outside the hotel, I had to get another one the next day before 11am but easily done and only charged £1 for the 2-days parking. Nice and easy and plenty of spaces available at this time of year. Once checked in I made my way to my room, I'd requested a quiet room and was put in 220, apart from road noise and the occasional cough or thump from upstairs or next door, this room was perfect. Plug sockets near the bed, always a winner for me, good internet, comfy bed and small but hot shower. The room had an iron and ironing board, again winner, and a hairdryer. There was ample tea and coffee making facilities and a Tesco Express just 2 min walk from the hotel. The main town shopping area was just a 10-min walk away. Didn't have breakfast after reading the reviews so just went to M&S to get muesli pots, OJ and almond croissants for breakfast in bed. I had a do not disturb sign on my door and when I got back the maid had kindly left a bag with clean towels, toilet roll and replacement tea, coffee, sugar and milk outside my door. All in all for £19 a night I couldn't have asked for anymore. Great value for money in a great location on the sea front. I highly recommend for the price and top tip... request room 220. The price was right - can't complain about £30 for a bed for the night. On street parking was fairly available and also very reasonable at what worked out to £4 for 24hours. The hotel was deceptively large and pleasantly decorated. The reception was functional. Everywhere seemed very clean and a lady was thoroughly cleaning the toilet in the lobby when we arrived - the chlorine smell made us think there was a swimming pool! We couldn't check in until 3 so left our bags at reception and went off to meet friends so didn't see the room until we returned much later. The room was a good size and the bed very comfortable. We were exhausted and just collapsed into bed. When we awoke we were both absolutely freezing. The closed window had a massive gap allowing a frosty February night to penetrate our room - a brass monkey wouldn't have stood a chance, a bit like the little panel heater on the wall! The room was much too cold to shower so we agreed to just get back to the car as fast as we could to warm up. The receptionist was busy in the back office so we didn't get the chance to explain. All in all a real shame because if the room had been at a reasonable temperature we would have probably enjoyed the facilities and stayed for breakfast. Collapse

When I booked a couple of nights here, I was a bit dubious as the the quality, as it was very cheap. However, I was pleasantly surprised. On arrival, I discovered I had been upgraded to a room with sea view, and it was superb - very spacious and spotlessly clean. The only slight downside was that there was very little storage, and no drawers at all - not a problem for me as I was on my own, but maybe would be for a couple. Unfortunately, the pub next door held a karaoke night on my first night, and the noise was appalling and went on till 2300. The cooked breakfast was very disappointing, as the sausages and bacon were so over cooked they were leathery, and the eggs greasy. However, there’s a good choice of fruit, cereals, croissants and yoghurts, so I’ll be going for that on my second morning. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. Collapse

We went to this hotel in February and found the staff to be so friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and tidy and the cleaning staff very friendly. We had a room on the 4th floor with a view of the water and it was the quietest room we have ever had in a hotel. The breakfast was hot and plentiful. The parking on the street was very reasonable and, as we were not far from the pier, we could walk to places of interest or even catch a bus to Brighton. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will be going back again for another visit later in the year. Collapse
