Abrupt reception staff not a great start. No food available on sundays again not a great start. Cobwebs and dust in breakfast room come bar come restaurant has a lot to be desired. Staff need to be trained on how to wipe a table properly. Basic food like yoghurts should be kept cool, bacon should be available at breakfast time. The selection of half cooked fried eggs was not appetising. Coffee was cheap and bitter. Collapse

I stayed here over the Easter weekend for three nights with my husband and three and five year old children. We solely booked this hotel as it was a really good rate and near to family that we were visiting. We basically didn't expect much because of the other reviews. Well, we were really impressed. The hotel was much better than we expected - its a lovely modern and clean hotel in a lovely old building situated right on the seafront. As soon as we arrived the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had dealt with Eva via email on the run up to our trip as Booking.com had made a bit off an error. Eva was brilliant and dealt with the problem quickly and efficiently and was there when we arrived to give us lovely warm welcome. We were allocated to room 211. This room was just perfect. It had a fabulous large window with a sea view and the room overall was very spacious yet cosy and clean. We didn't hear any noise from anywhere else in the hotel or outside during our stay. Our door was a bit creaky as someone else had written about in their review but that was easily fixed with a piece of cardboard - no big deal! We loved the breakfast too -plenty of choice and plenty of room! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Shore View to anyone and would certainly stay again when visiting the area. Collapse
Don't' read the bad reviews, use common sense and everything will be OK!

I chose this hotel for our (me and my husband) Eater holiday getaway and as a frequent traveller I had tried to scrupulously study the facilities and reviews. I have to admit that all we usually need it decent and clean room and bathroom (to look forward to come back after sightseeing), free and functioning wifi (which makes life slightly easier) and we prefer breakfast in the hotel. This hotel ticks all these boxes and we did not have very unpleasant suprises, why I have rated it 4. In reply to the negative reviews which I had read shortly before our departure for Eastbourne, here is my review and tips in details: - we did not have noisy neighbours (must have been lucky) - the room was clean and available upon arrival - breakfast choice is not huge, but is quite acceptable including full English - the breakfast room/ restaurant is not very big, but we had no problems with finding a table for two - the staff was extremely hard working, friendly and professional (especially Ieva, the Receptionist, was always ready to go that extra mile and very professional) - we had no problems with on the road parking, we could always find a parking space and it was not the rocket science to use and display the scratch card for parking (parking for hotel residents costs £1/day), just ask for it at the Reception For the hotel management: - please, consider providing another soap in the bathroom, the one we had can hardly be called soap, no foam at all - we did not like the tall fixed shower, handheld shower would be more convenient (but we can also understand the maintenance concerns) - it looked like the room cleaning service might. It be up to standards (otherwise the same few crumbs would not be in the same place after cleaning) - please, do something about the bed (we stayed in room 402) . It was comfortable, but "drifting" from one side of the room to the other:) On the whole we had a fantastic experience of Eastbourne and we wish all the success to the lovely hotel staff! Collapse

Stayed here for one night at the weekend. There is a pub right across the street behind the hotel, maybe about 15 meters away. It was very loud! All the drunks shouting their heads off whilst coming out to smoke or have a fight... all rooms are non-smoking but our toilet stank of smoke, asked reception and their solution was to spray air freshener which you don't want around a 9 month old. The location is very good with the pier a short walk away and the rooms are ok for the price. Not much sound insulation between rooms but the biggest disturbance is the pub / "disco" right under your nose. So stay here if you party yourself but don't stay with family or kids or at least ask for a room on the opposite site. Collapse

We where sent to the cheapest hotel in Eastbourne, which was a terrible thing to do. At least they should've sent us to a similar hotel not a cheap one only because of the price!!!!! Poor management of the situation, unbelievable experience, they have ruined our weekend!!! There where another couple in the same situation as we where! Collapse

The Shoreview hotel is along the main parade at Eastbourne and is very handy if you just want a nice clean room, in a decent hotel. Its nothing to shout home about however when you stay in Eastbourne the main thing you do is walk along the beach, have a look at the shops nearby or go to a restaurant. Nearby you have the Belgium beer café which is superb, a few fish and chip places and a gorgeous pier to walk along. The bandstand and historic walkways are good, they have the airshow in August or September and its fun seaside shows. I think even Bucks Fizz even have a show sometimes. Collapse
