Abrupt reception staff not a great start. No food available on sundays again not a great start. Cobwebs and dust in breakfast room come bar come restaurant has a lot to be desired. Staff need to be trained on how to wipe a table properly. Basic food like yoghurts should be kept cool, bacon should be available at breakfast time. The selection of half cooked fried eggs was not appetising. Coffee was cheap and bitter. Collapse

My partner had a voucher for two night stay and booked two weeks prior to our visit. We checked in and was given room 405. After taking lift to 3rd floor then through a number of doors and up two flights of stair we arrived at our room. Room was squeezed into an attic space very claustrophobic. Room was I would say for a single person not two people. Window did not open. Room was immaculately clean I will say that. I immediately phoned down to reception to complain and they said they were fully booked and they could not move us that night. However offered us complimentary breakfast for the morning and to be moved the next night. We stayed in tiny room for the 1st night in the morning everything had been handed over to day staff who were very helpful. They kept our luggage stored for us untill we got another room. Breakfast was lovely, hotel in a brilliant location however parking is not ideal. After breakfast which is served between 8 & 11 Am we went for a walk into town and along seafront came back around 11:30 ish we we given a new room on the 1st floor 116 which was vast in difference to room 405. Was immaculately clean also and could not fault room at all. I would return to this hotel maybe pay more for a sea view next time. We did have a bad start however, this was very quickly and efficiently rectified. Staff were also very polite well mannered especially the gentlemen managing the reception desk in the daytime on the weekends. I can't remember his name. Believe he was possibly Polish? Collapse

We stayed for 2 nights at the Shore Hotel. As others have said, it is quite well positioned for both the beach and the town and we found the staff really lovely and very helpful. However, the hotel was quite basic; for example in our room (No.104) there was no opening window and there was quite a draught from the non-opening French doors. Here you don't get free biscuits and neither do you get a bathmat to step out of the shower onto - we had to ask for one and the only thing they could supply was an extra towel to use, although they gave this willingly. We also could not help noticing the state of the area at the front where there is a bench upon which smokers tend to sit. That's fine, but people left loads of cigarette ends on the ground rather than putting them in the proper container supplied on the wall. It looked terrible. This was cleaned up early every morning, but by the end of the day was as bad again. Although they supplied a good breakfast, the seating available was not very big and on the morning of our second day, a Saturday, people were being turned away and asked to wait in the lobby until a table became available. Given that this was in February, we couldn't help wondering what it would be like in the peak season. The room was a twin and not very large but it did have a nice sea view. The parking for the hotel was terrible though. By sheer luck we got parked (on the road) almost opposite the hotel on the first night, but had to park some distance away on the second. On busy weekends, I should think you must have to be prepared to drive around quite a lot to find somewhere to park. Obviously, the hotel can't be blamed for this but it needs to be borne in mind. It must be the same for almost all the seafront hotels along this stretch and we only saw a couple of hotels which had their own car parks. Overall, the stay here was okay, but not brilliant. If it hadn't been for the lovely, helpful staff we wouldn't have rated this hotel as 'very good'. They made all the difference. Collapse

Fantastic location, helpful staff, huge double room, huge bed, fantastic view of the beach and the Pier. The hotel is right in the middle of the promenade and 100 yards from the Pier. Amazing and plentiful breakfast. Excellent value for money!
